Love my Garmin
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love my GPS and get lots of great comments on it by friends. Only thing is the voice command which doesn't work that great, she hardly ever gets it right. Still would buy another one if I needed one.

Smart purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased for my mother who is in her 70's. She was looking for ease of use and this fits the bill! Large screen makes for easy use when needing to make a quick glance when driving. The back-up camera was a definite bonus ... something my mother had wished was an added feature when purchasing her car. Win, Win.

This Garmin PND does everything it claims to do
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had this installed in my 08 Cadillac CTS. I mainly needed the wireless back-up camera that comes with this PND. The CTS has rear blind spots. The voice activated navigation and blue-tooth features are also nice to have. My CTS did not have any of these options available in 08. The upside, everything works great. That's why I rated this 5 stars. The down side, I can't locate the ideal place for that 7" screen in my car. It's too big for the windshield or dash mount, obstructs your view too much in my opinion. The Garmin CD mount obstructs the gearshift knob, it's too heavy and thick for a sun visor mount. The only thing left is to try a cup holder mount which I have ordered. Will know in a few days if this will work. If not, I'll just move it to my truck, lots of cabin room there for attachments, I should also point out this is not an HD camera, It's low resolution but adequate for its intended purpose. You will definitely see everything that's behind you. There is about a 2 second lag before the video appears on screen after putting your car in reverse (assuming you wire it that way). I guess that's probably normal for wireless video cameras. I don't find that to be an issue. Everyone should wait at least 2 seconds before backing up for safety reasons.

Great Device but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a terrific GPS and the camera is awesome, but... It's a simple install on older vehicles, but problematic on newer vehicles and many foreign cars that limit the amperage flowing to the backup lights on these vehicles. Garmin disclaims any knowledge of this, but what we found (and a very savvy BestBuy tech discovered as well) was that the only way to make the backup camera work on these newer vehicles is to install a relay tied to the backup lights and then use a more dependable source of power in the vehicle for the camera itself. The telltale sign of the problem is a camera display that flashes only momentarily when you put your vehicle into reverse. This turned out to be about a 10-hour install and roughly half of that time was consumed identifying the problem. A simple volt meter won't pinpoint the problem since there is the proper voltage flowing to the backup lights. There's just insufficient current (aka amperage) to support the camera as well. Physics 101: P=IE. Once it's working, it's AWESOME!

Great SatNav plus Backup Camera that works
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased for my daughter when she passed her test and got a car. She uses it to get everywhere. Traffic update is great and Backup camera works perfectly. Was worried about that after reading some reviews. The Geek Squad did amazing job of hard wiring the Navigation, installing back up camera and permanently fixing Navigation Unit on Dash

Consider this before buying
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am sure this is a great product (as I originally purchased this one until I returned for the multiple camera model) but one thing to consider before buying is it can only sync with 1 back-up camera (the BC 20). I have a truck and want to add 2 cameras; one for back of truck and a second on back of trailer so I don't have to swap the camera. The nüvi® 2789LMT can connect up to 4 BC 30 wireless cameras. Other than that the devices appear to have the same specifications. Yes more expensive but one gets what they pay for.

Works as advertised. Nice install as well.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my car. It is a 2012 Dodge Challenger with a 6 speed manual. Only one issue. I did not get the built-in GPS. Too expensive to upgrade maps and I like my Garmin. However, that left me without a backup camera, and there are a few blind spots in this vehicle. Enter the Garmin nuvi 2798. Hugh 7" screen. Voice control. And back up camera. Best Buy did a great install. Put the car in reverse and the camera activates. Wide angle fish-eye camera provides a great view of what is behind you. Low light camera very effective at night. Not cheap (and the install was $130.00 on top of the price) but feel safer and very happy with this purchase. Was a little concerned about the size of the screen but not an issue. Voice control responds much better in this model than my older Garmin. Would recommend highly.

Does not work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did a full price introduction purchase of this unit directly from Garmin, before it was ever on a store shelf. I had it professionally installed by the biggest dealer of my pickup's make in the state. That service was far from free. The backup camera is useless, as it won't stay "paired" with the main unit. Worse yet, Garmin refuses to work with the dealer, as they were not the original purchaser. To top it off, I had to pay the dealer AGAIN to uninstall it. Garmin's NO CUSTOMER SERVICE people have been of no assistance whatever. All I get from them is 3rd rate boiler plate "make sure it's plugged in" kind of nonsense. Now they are making it very difficult to return. Save your money and avoid this thing like the plague.

Posted .I'm sorry to hear about your experience with customer support and with this product. With software version 3.00 or later installed to your 2798LMT, you can seamlessly display footage on your navigator.
Bluetooth range varies based on installation and the associated obstacles between the Bluetooth transmitter and your head unit. Some vehicles require the use of the wireless backup camera extension cable, which extends the range for how closely you can bring the Bluetooth transmitter towards the head unit.
Other variables, such as a Bluetooth audio system installed to the vehicle or other wireless technology, can interfere with signal consistency. Most products purchased directly from us, opened or unopened, are eligible for a no-hassle refund within 30 days. Beyond 30 days, all products come with a one-year warranty for manufacturer's defects from the date of purchase. -LB

Backup camera did not work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wasted 3 hours as Geek Squad installed backup camera and tried to trouble shoot it. Worked intermittently. Garmin finally said to try another unit. Best Buy uninstalled and reordered a replacement. Will update my review when I see how that one does.
