    GE Profile--A welcome design change.

    It's nice to be able to close the window to within about 5" and still see outside. I have an alarm system, and didn't want the traditional window a/c that can be pushed inside from the outside. Too easy for burglars to break in. GE sends an L bracket to lock the window in place. 8300 BTU was just what I needed, and I got the 4yr BestBuy warranty for peace of mind.

    This is NOT Apple Homekit compatible

    The listing here says it works directly with HomeKit, but it does not. You can only operate it via their pretty crummy app. It was also an incredible pain to connect to, and for some reason I could only get it to connect from my iPad, my iPhone wouldn’t work whatsoever. Also we measured our wall depth with our trim, but turns out the support bolts aren’t long enough to work. Was not a fun install when those fell out while holding the unit in place on the second floor… Unit is noisier than the midea one I purchased for my office with a similar concept “quiet” / U-shaped.

    Loudest and smelliest ac I've ever owned

    This ac is not quiet and gets moldy and smelly very quickly. If you have any humidity the unit is designed to collect water in a pool in the back that the fan hits and sprays onto the condenser to cool it and increase efficiency. The fan spray the water makes a ton of noise (it's the loudest ac I've ever owned). And the pool of water gets smelly. And don't believe GE, while you can remoa plug to let some of the water drain, you can't let it all drain. I can't believe i wasted money on this and I'm very upset at best buys terrible 15 day return policy. I assumed it was 30 like everone else. Avoid GE and Best Buy.

    The Unit is not Quiet

    Its quiet on the inside, but outside there is a constant pinging of water droplets being thrown and hitting the walls of AC. Only buy this if you want to disregard others who have to put up with the noise. It can be picked up from the street

      All our room air conditioners have a "slinger ring" around the rear fan blade. The ring is designed to pick water up off the bottom of the pan and throw it against the condenser coils. This design feature helps improve the efficiency of the unit by reducing heat on the coils and helps remove moisture from the pan. A pinging noise may be heard when the water hits the hot coil. You can reduce this noise by removing the subbase water plug as shown on page 17 of the Owner's Manual. Please be aware, removing the plug will lower the Energy Efficiency of your unit. If needed, the manual is available by clicking on the Features tab and scrolling to the bottom of the Features list.     The design is pretty but the built material is less than good. Its garbage. The thermostat is all over the place, and the machine doesnt cool effectively. Dont buy this.

    Deep sills beware, it won't fit!

    After digging though the Q & A they say this will fit in a window sill up to 13" deep, BUT that's totally incorrect. The opening on the AC to drop into the sill is 8" deep. Now I have to return it!

      We appreciate your feedback. With the chaseway in the 3rd position, this unit will fit a wall thickness up to 13 3/4" as shown on page 12 of the online Owner's Manual. Once installed, the air conditioner hangs 9" below the sill and 9 ½" into the room. Additional information is available in the manual which can be found by clicking on the Features tab and scrolling to the bottom of the Features list. -Vikki@GEAppliances GE_Appliances

    It started screaming after just under 2 years, and GE's responses to all the negative reviews aren't cutting it. It reads as a form letter. GE is sorry that all of you had a bad experience with their product. Please purchase another, and we will all cross our fingers together and hope that this time it works.

    I would not recommend at all it does not cool it just feels like you have a fan on. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt and waited hours and the room never got cool. I saw some good reviews and decided to give it a try but this ac is just not it. Really disappointed.

    Not happy had for 1 1/2 years and it’s junk started making noise then just quit! When stopped working it started to smell like something was burning never tripped the gfci

    Terrible ac is quiet at first but randomly gets loud so there is no consistency noise wise which is a problem for me personally since I am a light sleeper.

      If your air conditioner is making unusual noises we do recommend ensuring that it is securely seated in the window and level and that there are no loose parts that could be hitting the fan. If this does not help, please take advantage of your one-year warranty. The full information for this warranty can be found on page 21 of the Use and Care manual on the product page. GE_Appliances
