The GE Profile - Opal 2.0 Ultra Nugget Ice Maker with Side Tank and Scale Inhibiting Filter is awesome and makes ice quickly!! Plus the upgraded ice scoop is perfect and so much better!! Love love love. We got this because we use a lot of ice. We use it every day and it has been a godsend. The only issue we’ve had is about a week ago, it started saying “add water” and shutting off when it did not need water. We are in the process of troubleshooting and think it might be the filter. Wish us luck!

Overall machine is great. It is on the louder side when it operates. We use it constantly, I’ve had it since March and I’ve replaced the filter twice, descaled regularly and run a cleaning cycle once a week. I only use distilled water and have not had any build up of any kind.

I chew ice, I know I shouldn’t, but I do. This ice machine produces ice with the best and most satisfying crunch. It was easy to set up, it just took a couple of hours to let it run through all of its cycles. I was shocked when ice started falling into the chamber 15 minutes after plugging it in. It produces the ice so fast, it is almost unbelievable. It is a bit loud, but I don’t think it could achieve the speed of ice production without making noise. It can keep up with 4 people’s ice needs on a hot day without difficulty. Now that I have had this in my home, I think I would have a hard time going back to the ice made by my fridge.

I really wanted to love this ice maker, especially because the ice it makes is great when the machine is actually working. Unfortunately, I’ve now purchased two of these within the last year and a half, and BOTH have broken in the exact same way. I was very consistent about taking care of them. I regularly cleaned and descaled both machines according to the maintenance recommendations, so lack of maintenance definitely wasn’t the issue. Eventually, each machine stopped making ice and started giving the “Add Water” warning constantly—even when the water reservoir was completely full. No matter what I tried, the machine continued saying it needed water and would not make ice. Having the exact same failure happen twice is extremely disappointing, especially for a machine at this price point. I could understand getting one defective unit, but after buying a second one and having it develop the same exact problem, I don’t feel comfortable purchasing another. I loved the nugget ice while they worked, but for the price, I expected these machines to last much longer than they did. Unfortunately, based on my experience with two separate units, I can’t recommend it.

I love the wifi connectivity to set a schedule for it to run. It does want me to "sanitize" it every week, which is kind of a pain if you aren't keeping it right by a sink. But if you want nugget ice, there's no other way to go.

This is a game changer if you like me have a refrigerator that makes bad ice or rarely works. The ice is fresh makes drinks taste like fountain drinks and makes a lot. It alerts to when to flush for sanitizing reasons. We turn machine off at night and back on in the morning and have ice all day. They aren’t cheap but BB and GE frequently have on sale.

Awesome! Just be aware that it has to be cleaned often.

This product is great when it works. We have had this less than two weeks and it is making loud noises that require it to be unplugged. Wanted to post video but review only allows for pictures. Anyone else having this issue?

I didn’t know I needed this until I got it but I don’t think I could go a day without it! If you are thinking about it, just do it you won’t regret it . This ice maker makes ice upon your own schedule you set in the app and it’s ready when you wake up for your ice coffee, it keeps ice in the drawer all day long and as soon as you scoop some it starts making more. It also lets you know via notification when you need to add more water. Run don’t walk!! Grab it now!!!

I would highly recommend this nugget ice maker. I have owned it for about a month now and have really loved how quickly it makes ice. The ice comes out just like the popular Sonic nugget ice. Extra water tank was included with this model and is nice because I do not need to refill it as much. You can make the ice by using the App on your phone or you can just turn it on. It keeps the ice frozen while the unit is turned on. Go out and get yourself one.

This ice maker is hands down the best one! We have had a few other "sonic" like ice makers in the past and they do not compare to how much better this one is. We are a family of 5, we have many get togethers with friends and we have yet to run out if ice. It makes ice fast. It is very quiet in comparison with other makers we have had. I love that it has a light feature to see the ice in the holder, especially at night... Hands down it is #1 in my opinion.

We love the opal ice makers. One problem they had was clear plastic tubing that could get gross in the sun. We clean ours each week. The new one (the one I am reviewing) has an opaque tube, which makes a huge difference. And it is way quieter.

A lot of research landed us on the GE Profile Opal 2.0 and we were not disappointed. Nothing better than having nugget ice on demand. Easy set-up, low maintenance, amazing ice! Purchased with the Best Buy warranty, as with all my purchases, but no issues so far. Still producing quick ice and is an absolute hit for my family and friends.

Ill be straight up and honest. This ice maker is downright expensive. But not a penny of the price tag i regret spending. This machine has been nothing but fantastic, and it gets used heavily. Myself, my fiancé, my mom, and i even gave gallong bags of ice to other family because nugget ice is just superior. If i ever needed to, i would 100% pull the trigger and buy it again.

One of the best ice makers ever, cons you have to clean it out every week. The decal light comes on. That’s super annoying the filter don’t work. it has to work too hard to make ice so I took it out because it kept on drawing codes or just simply not make an ice

I had an issue with previous machine making a screeching noice to make ice so I upgraded to 2.0 and after a month it would say add water for it to make ice even though the bin and reservoir was full , i did all the trouble shooting and still wouldn't work till i took out the filter and just put the plug/screen in place and the machine started to make ice. I think its the filter that was clogged so I ordered a new one to see if that takes care of the issue, I'll report back once i get the new filter installed.
