I bought a Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition for my S6 edge just to try the virtual reality. I didn't know it was going to look so real. It feels like if you were there. The games are great and you can watch any movie you have in your phone library.

Pretty good as a prototype but still has flaws

I have been interested in virtual gear equipment for quite a long time and I have known Oculus Rift like two years back. To be honest, the actual effect is still not so promising (thought the 3-D view is INDEED AWESOME). The resolution is quite low and that's especially severe for 3-D videos (sometimes it becomes difficult to recognize the face detail). Also, the eye lenses are soon covered with sweat steam in less than 5 minutes and you have to take it off and remove the moisture before you can watch clearly. Overall, consider it's still a developing prototype, I hold high anticipation for the future product and I would recommend it to those who wish to experience how a real "virtual reality" feels

Very nice VR experience with smooth video and no rotation lag. Quite impressive for this stage of the VR race, but only the beginning of what VR will eventually become. Some downsides: 1. The charger does not work when the phone is plugged into the headset, so watching a movie or using it for extended periods is not possible. 2. The lenses keep fogging up in cold weather. Putting the headset in a warm place before using it seems to help. 3. Even with the high pixel rate of the S6, pixels is still clearly visible through the lenses. However, this may be the case with all current generation VR headsets. 4. Lastly and probably the most annoying... every time you plug the phone into the headset it forces you into the Oculus app and only allows you to use the headset with that app. There are so many Google Cardboard or third party 3D content which should look awesome on the headset, but there's just no way of loading that and/or stopping the Oculus app from loading (without rooting your phone anyway) There was an app available to disable other apps from running, but Samsung decided that users should not have that and had it removed from the store. My HTC phone on the other hand has this feature built in. Android has always been an open platform where you have as much control over things as you want to have, so I don't know why Samsung is becoming more like Apple as time goes on. It is limiting the use of the headset for no apparent reason. Other than that, quite a nice first VR experience!

    VR Has A Future

Buying this device, it was important to remember that it is not a consumer-ready device just yet - it is an innovation edition for those more tech-savvy or developers. With that in mind, the device is a great introduction to the world of VR for Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge users. With a simple setup, you can quickly gain access to many apps and demos through the Oculus App Store. The only disappointments come from a. the lack of overall content, and b. the lack of a gamepad included. Many of the games on the marketplace require an android Bluetooth gamepad. That is an accessory that should be included in the box with the headset, not a separate purchase. Brought mine into the office and people were genuinely surprised at how much fun it was to use and interact with. People who haven't used any recent VR hardware before might think it's gimmicky, afterwards though, they will know this is going to be the future.

Pros - immersive tech transports you to different worlds, cityscapes, etc. Really have to see it to be believed. Cons - Could use more content build out - which I believe is going on, but still somewhat sparse. Also, those hoping for absolute crystal clear worlds, pics, etc, will be slightly disappointed because that is not this product. Some amount of pixellation still experienced. Hoping that future content can iron that out somewhat, but I fear it is a component of the screen resolution, therefore unfix-able. Still looks great, but not 100% pixellation free. Cost is not really that bad at $200, and trust me you'll be the life of the party with this thing - it really is that cool. I don't regret purchasing it at all - hopefully the content can catch up with the concept.

The Gear VR is great, having used it for both the Note 4 and for the S6 I can say that the viewing quality is superb, and the experience is excellent, especially for someone who had never experienced VR like myself. Using for the first time will make your jaw drop when you feel like you are flying through space or swimming with sharks. My kids love it, and this is cheap enough for everyone to experience. The only area that needs improvement is the app selection (which I'm sure will grow) and the fact that you need an additional gamepad to play most games. This should be included or you should be able to use another phone as a controller.

The theater application alone is worth the purchase price. I have a 70 inch tv and in vr the screen is much larger. While there is a hit on resolution, the overall effect is amazing. Much better than cardboard vr.

I have been waiting for this item to be released for quite some time. After having the Note 4 and waiting for the S6 to come out, I just knew I'd end up buying the Samsung Gear VR. After having it for about a week it has been AWESOME. I love the Oculus Cinema app (Which places you in a virtual theater) and all the apps that developers habe created. I highly suggest going on YouTube and looking up what else you can do because there's so much that you can do that most people never would of knew how to do. Overall I'm glad I purchased this and if you have a Samsung S6 or S6 Edge, I recommend you go to BestBuy to test it out and buy one yourself. This is the best accessory you can get for these phones!

The unit is great until you use it for more than an hour. When trying the demo at the sore, you feel like you have been transported to another place. I viewed the New York video and after taking of the unit it felt like I just came back from vacation. It felt real. The reason for giving it 3 start is because after purchasing the product and using it for over an hour, it started to fog up and was not able to finish the moving I was watching. Hopefully they will improve that on the next unit.

For an all in one VR experience it is very cool. The high rez screens aren't there yet but that's coming when Oculus releases there new unit in January. If you have an S6 or S6 edge it works great they are coming out with a cheaper model that will work with the S6 Note 5 and I am assuming the S7. This model seems to be built better than the cheaper model but will work only with the S6. There are heating issues with this but I have found that if you have plenty of air movement around you it isn't as much of a problem. i.e. overhead fan or oscillating fan pointed at you. Also the Power A - Moga Pro Power Gaming Controller works great with this setup. Just make sure you have it set to B.

I've enjoyed it so far. It lets you get a feel for VR now, without having to wait for the "real" Oculus to come out, plus presumably this will be cheaper than the Oculus as well. The main downside is that there are some apps that won't run AT ALL unless you have a controller, and the compatible controllers aren't cheap.

    Pricey VR option

It's pricey because you need to have the phone also, and there are cheaper VR options out there (touchofmodern is selling something similar for $70 and you can use any 4''-6'' phone). It's pretty cool, I'm just doing this for points. You definitely should use headphones. Someone stopped me in the street once to check it out. They were neighbors I never talk to but since they were neighbors I knew they weren't gonna run off with it, haha. My s6 edge overheats pretty quickly and you have to remove the case every time. Battery drain is also quite fast, but if you charge it while running it in the VR gear, it heats up also so you have to let it cool down so it's like a lose lose. Limited stuff you can watch. I wish you can Netflix or Hulu Plus on it, you're limited to your own movies or Samsung's services. Putting your own movies on is kind of a pain cuz you don't have a micro SD card slot and most people will have only bought the 32GB phone I think (I got the 64).

LOVE THIS PRODUCT NEED MORE CONTENT/ BIGGER HEADST

LOVE THIS PRODUCT BUT NEEDS MORE CONTENT VIDEO GAME WISE AND BIGGER HEAD STRAP. I have had this product since 7-4-2015 and today is 8-8-2015. I have clocked in about 50 hours in those 36 days, if I was not limited by phone needing charge or me having a family or job I am sure that number would be higher lol. In the last 36 days my XBOX ONE has been used about 20 hours " all for Netflix no gaming lol " . In the last 36 days my PS4 has been used about 10 minutes " despite just having bought gta 5 and god of war 3 for ps4 ' NOW to the review below lol. So I have to start by saying I don't think it is fair I needed to get a Samsung s6 phone to be able to use this. I loved my htc phone but I must say I will trade my htc phone 10 times over for the Samsung s6 just to be able to use the Samsung vr gear. First thing I will say is I personally think the strap should be at least 1 inch bigger on each side for people who have larger heads. Now let me say this I am 31 years old so I have tried many systems from the 90s till now. I must say personally I think this is on par with what you find in amusement parks like Disney world except you not paying $5 each time for 3 minutes lol and it is all around you in 360 mode so I thing that aspect is better. I was amazed how you really do feel like you are in those videos and the Oculus cinema is also awesome feels like you actually there. I do wish there was a option where you can turn on random people like between 10 - 60 " each time random per movie " so you don't feel so alone. Also unless you have home internet of atleast 15mbps I recommend you download all videos to avoid buffering or video looking choppy in the Milk VR. I really wish the Oculus cinema had a way to allow users to create a video library kind of like Google play does where we can buy movies download it to phones or delete them but we always have the movie owner rights in the cloud in Google. I would so rent movies for oculus cinema. The other cool thing is I wish they would let people customize the home screen home would be awesome but it is ok as it is still looks awesome. I hope they do improve the image some apps/ videos do show screen does " slightly " would be awesome if it was gone or reduced even more. I do know 1 thing since I bought this my xbox one and ps4 and my computer game sims have not been used in almost a week thanks to the Samsung vr gear lol.

Sadly I still cannot get my personal movies to play in the oculus theater. However the view so far has been worth it even for the shorter movies that you can purchase. There is definitely a 360 degree view and in movie mode you see what appears to be 100 ft screen in front of you.

The quality of the VR experience is nothing short of amazing with this headset. The downsides are a lack of content, slightly narrow field of view, and overheating on the phone. Buy it if you have $200 to burn, hold off if you don't.

This is headset is awesome! Literally- it was awe inducing! I put it on and was truly immersed in all the visuals. There aren't that many apps for it yet but I'm patient and what they do have is pretty neat! I'd wish there was a way to watch Netflix but I'm sure it will come in time.
