A Breathtaking Evolution!

Ghost of Yotei is a stunning evolution of what Ghost of Tsushima started. The graphics are absolutely breathtaking; every snow-covered mountain, forest, and temple feels alive with incredible attention to detail. The open world is larger and more immersive, offering more dynamic weather, wildlife, and player freedom than before. It’s a noticeable improvement across the board, blending cinematic visuals with deeply engaging gameplay. Ghost of Yotei isn’t just a sequel, it’s a masterclass in how to expand and refine an already beloved world.

2025 has been a pretty fantastic year for video games and Ghost of Yōtei only adds to that. The graphics and combat are better than the first game while the story is new and unique. The game itself also feels finished with only one non-game breaking bug that I saw in 80 hours of play which is a lot I have talked with friends for hours about this game and I can’t wait to see what the multiplayer features are like in January.
TL;DR: Fantastic game, definitely worth the price.

A Portal Into A Living Painting

The game takes gamers into Hokkaido like stepping into a living painting. It’s wild how good it looks. The leaves swirling around your feet, smoke lazily drifting off campfires, and light cutting through the trees. The whole vibe is so alive it barely feels like a game world; it’s more like nature decided to flex in digital form.
The guiding wind is cool and all for immersion, but honestly? The map is the real MVP. Super clear, super fast—perfect for when you just want to get stuff done without wandering in circles. And the sound design? Unreal. Every crunch of snow, every distant howl makes you feel like you're out there alone, surviving in the cold. The devs nailed that isolated, meditative energy.
Combat’s got that slick samurai rhythm—parry, deflect, switch stances, repeat. It’s smooth without being button-mashy, and when faster enemies show up, you’ve gotta actually focus, which keeps it fresh. Exploration’s a blast too. The game doesn’t shove markers in your face—it rewards curiosity, so going off the beaten path actually feels worth it.
Only gripe? Grappling up steep cliffs can be a little clunky sometimes. But that’s tiny stuff compared to how much this game nails the balance between chill exploration and intense swordplay. From the first few minutes, it just *clicks*—and doesn’t let go.

Improving on Greatness

Ghost of Tsushima came out to mixed reviews at the time of release. Sucker Punch releases their game in close proximity to Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part 2. Over time, I feel that game got the love it deserved. That same love roles over into the studio's follow-up game.
Ghost of Yotei starts by throwing you immediately into the main character's, Atsu, motivation. You feel for her right away and so you embark on this journey of revenge.
Though the story and gameplay can be brutal, Sucker Punch has created a world that is beautiful. Japan somehow looks better this time around. I find myself bringing up photo mode every 5 minutes cause I'm seeing some of the most gorgeous scenes I've ever been treated to on screen.
I'm only a few hours in, but the journey is great so far. The story is intriguing, I look forward to meeting new characters and diving into this story. The gameplay is great so far and I can see it only getting better as I notice the depth of the skill trees.
If you enjoyed the first entry in the series, you know what you're getting yourself into with Ghost of Yotei. You won't experience anything revolutionary, but this is the type of iteration you want to see from studios that hone their craft. The improvements are evident which is why I'd easily recommend this to returning fans or any fan of the open world genre. I'm excited to continue my journey through Atsu's story.

Ghost of Yōtei is a stylish, cinematic action-adventure that feels like the natural follow-up to Ghost of Tsushima. You play as Atsu, a mercenary chasing down the “Yōtei Six” in a snowy, gorgeous world built entirely for PS5. The visuals are stunning, the DualSense support is top-tier, and the combat, with multiple weapons you can swap between on the fly, feels smooth and punchy.
There are plenty of cool presentation modes (including a Kurosawa-style filter), and the story hits harder than you’d expect from a revenge tale. It does slow down a bit toward the end, and some of the climbing and exploration feels a little forced, but nothing that ruins the experience.
Overall, it’s a beautiful, atmospheric adventure with great action and a strong lead — absolutely worth playing if you love stylish samurai vibes and open-world exploration.

Ghost of Yotei is an excellent game from the same studio that gave us Ghost of Tsushima. The story and visuals are top notch. The gameplay for Ghost of Yotei is a lot more polished compared to the previous title and offers a lot more to many different play styles due to varying armor characteristics and weapon combinations. The visuals are amazing just as you'd expect from the same developers. Overall, a must buy especially if you liked Ghost of Tsushima.

Ghost of Yotei follows Atsu as she travels around to get revenge for her family. Pretty standard revenge tale but the game really shines in its gameplay. The world is gorgeous, the sound design is beautiful (playing on my 7.1 home theater system) and the combat is engaging and at times challenging. Yotei took everything good from Tsuhima and gave you more of it. If you enjoyed Tsushima, you'll love Yotei.

A Masterpiece Better Than Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Yōtei truly stands out both visually and artistically; every place you visit offers breathtaking landscapes. As an open-world game, side missions appear in a very natural and organic way. The gameplay is even better than Ghost of Tsushima, and the story is stronger as well. It’s amazing to see how the game has evolved and to enjoy every moment of it.

Spectacular game in every way! Beatiful graphics and suprisingly zenful moments mixed often between the epic violence, to keep offering many options to the taste of the masses.
I did have to reduce the difficulty to beat the game, but only because Im an old button masher! :)

I’m absolutely loving everything about this game. It’s everything the first game was, but even better. If you’re on the fence about playing, I highly recommend giving it a try. You’ll have a great time, I promise. You’re doing yourself a disservice by not playing. You’ve come this far, so come in and join the club!
