Wyze makes a better camera for $30. I have contacted Google, and they want me to pay for a new one. Nest before Google was better and would send me a new one for free.
Battery life is bad, camera is never on and Google has no answers.

Good customer service and in time delivery. Effortless installation
Hi Garvin, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to learn that the new Nest Cam (battery) didn’t meet your expectations.
The new Nest Cam (battery) is exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.
Your patronage and satisfaction is what drives us in improving our products and services. If you have any questions or concerns, you can always reach out to our support team. We’d be more than happy to help here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

I exchanged for a second pair after first pair would not set up thinking first pair was faulty. Spent 7 hours on the phone with tech. It was a vicious cycle of scanning qr and returning to main page. The style is nice, i loved the options and look but these cameras are a hastle. They cost $125 for someone to install and i think thats intentional. I returned for blink and it took 5 minutes for me to hook up by myself.

This "sounded good at first" but didn't work out at all. I may try to return it even if packaging is messed up (worst they can say is no). Has a lot of 'neat sounding features' like face recognition, however -- within 1 day of setting this camera up, the app lost track of my camera (it was either deleted from my account or who knows what happened). I would've had to try to re-add it again. Of course, the "brilliant design idea" (Sarcasm intended) they had was to require a piece of paper with a QR code, it is very easy to lose a QR Code not on the camera itself (Amazon's Ring cameras have QR codes on the device itself, much smarter folks at amazon than google, they're efficient too I hear, best of both worlds). I cannot rely on being able to use a camera that might lose connections over and over again, with a paper card being required separate this thing is begging to become landfill.
If I had to name it's worst feature, I do not spot any buttons on it, no power button, no factory reset, no pair with wifi/bluetoth/sync, none of that. If it is "charged" (as probably some google folks should be, with a crime perhaps), it does its thing and the user seems to have no "control".
1-star selected only because "0" wasn't an obvious option (if it is an option, maybe offer to place a parenthesis after the star graphic and show number selected).

For the battery life, it will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios: - Busy - About 1.5 months battery life (about 20 - 25 recorded events per day) - Typical - About 3 months battery life (about 9 - 12 recorded events per day) - Quiet - About 7 months battery life (about 2 - 4 recorded events per day)
If you´re willing to try, we recommend checking the frequency of events (per day) that you get with your Nest Cam (Battery). If the short battery life isn´t related to the frequency of events, then we may need to have a closer look at your Nest Cam (Battery) and understand what may be causing it. Bad quality, hard to adjust angle

I hate this camera. I have a lot of Google home and Nest products so I figured, might as well get the nest cam when I was looking at security cams. First of all the picture is SO GRAINY, poor color, poor quality, not that great in dark either but even in mid light. Besides that, it can really only go on the magnetic hold one way, otherwise the image is upside down, so then when you're nailing it up you have to make sure that right where it twists on will line up exactly how you want your camera to point. Would much rather have a camera that I can adjust to rotate instead of having to unscrew it and nail it back up in the position I want if it's slightly off. Setting it up in the app was a pain too, the nest app wanted you to set it up in Google home app and Google home app wanted to use nest app, but got that working - trick is, when you say Google product it doesn't find it but then you can skip your other products you have and scan it. You can't say works with Google and select nest because it will give you that loop instead of letting you scan it. Anyways, my biggest gripe is not being able to adjust it and the quality of camera so I'll be returning for a diff kind.
Hi there, thanks for being an advocate of our Google Nest products. We're sorry to hear about the poor experience you're having with Nest Cam (Battery).
Video quality for Nest Cam (Battery) may be affected by different factors. Here are some recommended steps that may help improve the video quality: - Clean the lens with a soft cloth that’s made for cleaning optics. Dust, thumbprints and dirt can cause poor image quality. - Turn your camera so that any nearby surfaces or objects (like a wall) are out of view. - Use the Google Home app to zoom and enhance and crop out surfaces or objects that may be causing glare. - If you see a bright white shape along the edge while everything else is too dark, there might be a surface that’s too close in your camera’s view (like a wall). Angle your camera so the surface stays out of view. - Move nearby objects that may be reflecting the infrared light.
If you will allow us, we'd like to delve deeper into the reason that may be causing the video quality issue and be able to provide you with a better experience. You can always contact our support team via the Google Nest help page: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Slick little unit. Seems to hold a charge well, and the magnetic base is handy for temporary/semi-permanent mounting.

Regret this purchase. The camera works fine, but footage is only saved for 3 hrs unless you purchase an overpriced subscription, so the camera is basically useless. If someone breaks into my car overnight, that footage will be gone by morning. Unless you plan to go all in and buy a ton of these cameras, which is the only way to make the subscription price worth it, don’t bother.
