Great Camera but horrible app expierence

I do like this camera for having the battery option as this is mounted outside the house. Overall the camera is great, I just don't like the fact that Google has made a mess with the old Nest App and Google Home. They need to make up their minds on integrating all cameras be it from Nest or Google. It's a pain switching from Nest app and Google home. If you have older camera's, Google messed up on this integration for now and this was back in 8/24/2021 when I bought this and it is still a mess now.

The overall experience is great with the nest camera. I wished it had a wider viewing angle like the arlo Ultra 2. Facial recognition is a cool feature. Subscription service is pretty good. $12 a month for unlimited cameras.

It does what it says. It’s clear, great sound. It’s a sharp, clear picture and I like how I can move it to cover any part of my living room or my yard.

Excellent video quality, if using outdoors the solar mounted are great.

Just put these cameras up to view the front and back of the house. Picture is clear and range is great! Easy magnetic option of you want to avoid drilling.

These cameras are very nice the clarity is a little blurry at night and when there is bad weather. other than that it is pretty decent. these cams work best when corded at all times.

Downgrade from Previous Nest Cams

It's baffling that Google would choke their new cameras with less features than previous generation, and entirely due to software. These latest cams are NOT Nest Aware compatible so you only get a limited 3 hour history window before they delete recorded events. And no option to subscribe to a service that would allow longer storage (like Nest Aware). It neuters the entire purpose of security cameras.
Why on earth would Google do this? They're missing out on revenue and already have the tech in place.
As of this review date (summer 2024) the Google Home app is also pretty clunky and hard to set schedules and customize.
The cameras are fine, but until they fix the software/app I would strongly recommend avoiding.

I've owned multiple camera systems to include some of the original Arlo devices. Arlo takes waaaaay to long to load. By the time you get an alert and look in your app, the burglar is long gone with your TV! But in all seriousness, Google products just work and the work well and load quickly. Yes, the video quality should be 2K or better by now but with digital enhancements this camera works very well for its intended purpose.

Great little piece of equipment. It’s movable so we can set it up anywhere in our home. The picture is very sharp and we feel safer keeping an eye on our home.
