Great product, weather effects it more than I would like but otherwise good.
Hi whiskeeze, thanks for posting a review. We’re sorry to learn that you find the Google Home app not user-friendly, and we understand your decision to return your Nest Cam.
We’re aware that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app, however, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. Our teams are working on enabling the ability to setup and control older Nest cameras in the Home app so users will have one app to control all of their devices, and we’re working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices.
Hi Waugh898, thanks for giving us time to share your review about the Nest Cam (battery), and we're sorry to hear no one got a hold of you to install them. We designed the new Nest cameras with ease of setup and installation, and the Google Home app will walk you through detailed instructions. It's important to connect your camera to the app before you install or mount it. You need to scan the code on your camera to connect it to the app. If you’d like to try, you’ll find the set up guide here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9293657
A truly wireless indoor/outdoor HD security camera

The new Google Nest security camera is a truly wireless Wifi camera with excellent HD picture quality in day or night. I’ve had the original wired version installed as a front door cam for years and am pretty excited to add a 2nd camera to the ecosystem. It has a few upgrades over the older version, such as a rechargeable long-life battery, better broadcast sound, and some pretty fancy features like people, animal, vehicle, motion, and even familiar face detection. You can adjust how sensitive the motion sensing is, and of course you can create zones for it to focus on or ignore. I use mine as an auxiliary camera that I move around the house depending on the need. It comes with a magnetic wall mount that’s very sturdy and holds the camera solid. I set that up high over the garage to look over the driveway, but I love that I can just pull the camera off the magnetic base and move it to another base mounted in the backyard. There’s even a stand option so you can put the camera on a table top or shelf. Indoors, the battery life is spectacular. It only captures footage of events, so the camera saves energy on not recording everything and can supposedly go almost a whole year on a single charge. I doubt that, but it really depends on how frequently the camera detects an event and turns on. I’m sure cold weather plays a part too (batteries in general hate cold), but it’s been about a week and I’m still at 93% battery life, which is outstanding. If I have to recharge it every month or 2, fine… it’s really not that hard or inconvenient. Plus, there’s an optional 30’ power cable available that enables you to plug it in and never have to worry about charging it again. The only thing I don’t like is that it doesn’t work with the Nest app, which I prefer for camera viewing over the Google Home app. It’s a small detail, but I guess I’m more worried if that means they’re going to stop supporting the Nest app. On the bright side, it integrates well with Google Home, which is handy because I have a bunch of peripherals that already use it. One other major upgrade over the original is that it comes with 3 hours of free event activity videos. Meaning… it’ll let you access footage within the past 3 hours for free, no subscription needed. Which is awesome, because the original came with none. Get the subscription though, and the whole Nest ecosystem is fantastic, with up to 10 days of 24/7 video history on the plus plan.
Overall, I love the portability of this camera. The wifi range is strong enough to mount it just about anywhere in a single house, and the battery life should be able to go months at a time without a recharge. The speaker is a nice improvement over the original as well, with much louder sound and less static. If you’re looking for a truly portable wireless security camera, you should definitely check out the new Google Nest Security Camera

Simple installation, The hardware did not include the necessary screws to fit the wall anchors, so I had to find my own. No software issues, fast updates, and the audio/video quality are awesome. I love the microphone/speaker combo that can act like an Intercom.
The blessing and curse of this product is the fact that it runs on a battery. While the battery life is tremendously good, When in battery mode, I cant record all night, just for certain movement events. Knowing that I would have to buy a separate cable or the stand for continuous power.
Other than that I really love how easy it was to set up.

Terrible camera. Live video keeps going in and out. Tried factory resetting. Didn’t help
Hi there, we're sorry for the disappointing experience with Nest Cam (Battery). We appreciate that you tried troubleshooting the issue by resetting your device. However, the live video feed issue may be related to possible congestion of your network. Removing some of your connected devices may help free up some bandwidth space, and enable you to watch the live video feed with any issues. Nest cameras typically require between 0.8 Mbps to 4.0 Mbps per device to upload properly, depending on the video quality setting you selected. Once you confirm that you are able to view the live video feed without any hiccups, we recommend contacting your Internet service provider to check your connection and upgrade it if needed. We also recommend checking for possible signal interference, such as the thick walls and other devices in your home, which may weaken Wi-Fi signals. Placing your router within a line of sight from your Nest Cam (Battery), and within 10-15 feet from each other, will ensure a reliable Wi-Fi signal. However, if the issue is still persistent, even after following the steps we suggested, then we may need to have a closer look at your Nest Cam (Battery) and figure out what may be causing the issue.
