Pretty good overall. Wished the battery lasted longer. Sometimes the app doesnt connect right away and it appears you have to pay a subscription for it to record history beyond a short time frame.

Picture quality it amazing but the battery lofe is horrible. It last a week and i live in a dead end with not a lot of traffic. Also we've messed with the sensitivity and it still doesn't notify us half the time.

I purchased this today. I was really attracted to the battery option as getting wires to an outdoor camera would be a challenge. I already have a Nest doorbell and two Nest thermostats, so going with this seemed like a no-brainer. Not so fast. It’s starting to be very clear that there were once Google Home products and, from a separate company, Nest products. Google Home bought Nest and the result is messy. It feels like the Google Home team won the internal battles. While the Nest name lives on, the Google Home team don’t much care about the Nest legacy and there is a jarring disconnect between the two product lines. So let’s just say that Nest (1st Gen) is an orphan now and Google Nest is simply a rebrand of Google Home. That seems to be the easiest explanation. Oh, and the battery was at 89% when I setup the camera. It’s now 6 hours later and I’m down to 62%. I live on a quiet cul-de-sac and there has only been one recorded event all evening — actually, I couldn’t see anything in a video it recorded, so even that was a false positive. I’m worried the battery is going to be for naught. On the positive, it was an easy install

Hi Grant, thanks for trying out Nest Cam (Battery). We're sorry to hear about your disappointment with the changes for the new products, and for the short battery life you are experiencing.

Battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. Users can extend the battery life of their camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios for your Nest Cam (Battery):
Busy: About 1.5 months battery life (about 20 - 25 recorded events per day)
Typical: About 3 months battery life (about 9 - 12 recorded events per day)
Quiet: About 7 months battery life (about 2 - 4 recorded events per day)

If none of the highlighted factors seem to be affecting the short battery life, we recommend reaching out to our support team for further assistance by visiting us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Well contructed and easy to install and set up. I ended up purchasing the outdoor extension plug so I have it recording 24/7 but that made installation only slightly more difficult. If you were just running on battery then installation would be even easier.

I use these camera's inside and they work great. I have others outside and they work well, also. The cord is a bit of an eyesore, but I want to make sure they are always working. They caught our neighbor's construction worker backing into our mailbox. They couldn't deny it because we had evidence. Very easy to set up and I can watch from my iPhone.

These cameras were easy to install and easy to set up with our Google Hub. These are not hardwired so we separately purchased solar panels specifically for these cameras and they are great. The picture is clear and the microphone/speakers are sharp.

We have four of these outside the house set to record motion at night or when we leave the house. Great for peace of mind, fun to get animal activity and convenient to make sure the horses are still standing when we’re away. The app is pretty easy to use and simple install as well. Batteries last for months at a time - although if you live in a northern climate like us, they may turn off to conserve battery on cold nights. Unless you subscribe to a service from Google, it only saves recordings for a few hours. If you hope to watch any recorded animal activity when you wake up in the morning or have any security evidence if something happens, be prepared to spend a few extra bucks per month. Could have given you 8 hrs for free - 3 hrs feels like they’re heavily steering you to the subscription.

I've bought one just like this one and the battery last awhile. But this one's battery is going dead in least than 2 months and needs to be recharged more often. The camera is good quality but the battery is poor on this one

Have had these cameras for two weeks and very pleased up until now. Easy to mount/install, simple to use, good functionality (in terms of picture quality, ability to zoom, battery-sparing operating modes as default, magnetic mount component, speaker functionality, etc.). Clearly not a serious home security device, but a good first step in establishing basic external surveillance

    NEST APP vs Google Home

Great camera but buyer beware. If you already have 1st generation (regular camera), 2nd generation (IQ), or the doorbell, this 3rd generation camera will not work with NEST app. You have to download and use Google Home app in order to use new cameras. I can see all 3 plus doorbell cameras on Google Home, but if I wanted to scroll through time on an older camera, I have to switch back to the NEST app. Don't get me wrong, quality of newer cameras are better than older models. Just be aware.

Hi JabreakitJubawdit, we truly appreciate your time sharing your feedback with us about the Nest Cam (battery). The new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. You’ll be able to view both your old and new Nest Cams together in the Home app, and we’re working on bringing the full functionality to the Home app so all your cameras can be controlled and set up in one place.

Your feedback and experience are important to us. If there's anything we can be of help, please let us know anytime at: ttps://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest
