We bought this and installed it about 3 weeks ago, and so far I am impressed. And our energy bill was lower. I don't know if it has to do with the new house (though we do have more space in this home), or if this is just more efficient at keeping the temperature in the right place.

I would give it a ZERO if I could. I will not be buy any more Google hardware. Initially the NEST indicated low battery and started dropping WIFI. Several hours with horrible Google support troubleshooting. Many can't speak English well enough to spell your email address correctly. Even then, they can't make any decisions without putting you on hold while they contact their manager. CSR said my HVAC had an issue and recommended a tech to check it out. Well, thermostat from another system worked fine. Finally they agreed to send a replacement base, but it took 10 days to arrive. With replacement base, the A/C worked, surprise-surprise, but now it would NOT connect to WIFI router nor HOTSPOT, so it too is defective. Great idea, poor execution with support that is of no help. If you are willing to live without A/C or heat for a couple of weeks when your NEST stops working, go for it. If not, then stay away or at least keep your old thermostat handy because you will need it.

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't have the blue wire it needs for my home so I had to return it even though I did the test prior to buying it that showed it would work. It made my AC turn off and on within minutes all the time I had it connected. This kills the AC. I then called nest installers to come to find out that they do the same thing I did (followed the instructions) when it came to installing it, so I lost 100bucks there. Its unfortunate because it did look very sleek on the wall.
