First the environmental issue. OK, Apple programmed us all to think our regular stuff had to arrive in tiffany-grade packaging. You can't count the number of formed paper and cardboard layers in this package. Totally, totally over the top. I'm a retired product designer, and I'm telling you this stuff is not only a huge environmental waste but it's also EXPENSIVE. If you knew this package added $20 to your purchase price, would you mind? And then there's the screwdriver. OK, this should be sold in the MOMA gift shop, it's that beautiful, but again, what percentage of homes already have a screwdriver at home or could borrow one? A super expensive screwdriver and another eco waste. And now about the software installation. We first installed this on a Google Home App and also on a NEST app. Big mistake. We ended up with "ghost" thermostats that couldn't be deleted. I'll spare you the long story but tech support was needed, and we're plenty tech savvy. This should not happen. If you've got a Nest thermostat showing on your Nest app, you should be able to delete it, period. Lastly, once installed, this is a very nice thermostat. But if enough of us complain about this over-the-top packaging situation we're now in, maybe it will make things change.

I have been through a few smart thermostats and have found this one to be the best. The build quality alone by far the nicest compared to the competition. This produce just feels nice to use. If you are in the Google Home ecosystem this just works so much better with everything compared to the others. It is well worth the price and I would purchase this again in a heartbeat.

This thing is cool. It installed very easy, but would like a bit more direction for setting the thing up. I've had it for about a month and so far it's a keeper.

Love the stainless steel look of this Nest Thermostat. Looks great, and appears to work really well. Installation was easy to our new AC, and we're still learning all the things it can do.

I've been wanting a Nest thermostat for some time and the Black Friday sale finally convinced me to make the purchase. The install went pretty well but I did have one question that wasn't covered in the included materials, so I called the support number. While I was on hold the information I needed was provided as part of one of the hold messages. I got the info I needed and didn't have to talk to or wait for a support rep to take my call. The thermostat and phone application setup went without issue. If you are going to hook this up to your wireless network, make sure you know the security key so it can make the connection. So far I'm pleased with the purchase. Can't wait to see if I can actually measure the benefits that are claimed. I guess time will tell.

Looks great and much more functional than my last thermostat. Got it on sale, perfect purchase for my home.

Very easy to operate and control from my phone. I have set up a schedule, which is working fine. And very nice looking on the wall. I would not recommend putting the back plate on the wall. Not very attractive.
