If you have the paint, it would look best to just paint the area.

I find this to be wider than it needs to be so it looks kind of funny on the wall but the choice was that or an exposed opening. Functionally, this worked fine.

Funky looking

Only issue for me is with the aesthetics. The plate is curved outwards on my wall so it makes the thermostat look like it’s sitting on a white dish on the wall. Not a big fan of the look.

Requires to fix Thermostat

But even with this it looks to odd interms of size in width. This is because I need it to fix I've taken this. Else I should not consider this.

How much would you pay?

They have done their marketing research and understand I wouldn't pay $20, Functions as promised by covering a small bit of unpainted wall left when I removed the old thermostat.
