Poorly designed cover for nest thermostat

This would just look terrible and be a dust collector

I bought one, it’s cheap quality but doesn’t the trick. I will say there’s plenty of much nicer options made by other companies. Check those out first and see if you find one nicer for less.

Works well with my thermostat

Nevertheless, this is just what appears to be a simple plastic mold with nothing else to it. Could have done this in 40min with my 3D Printer.....

Not sure why they thought this was a good idea

It should cup toward the wall not away from it. Not sure why they thought an area to collect dust between the plate and the wall was a good idea. Best Buy in Riverdale was wonderful in the return process.

Plate Sticks Out From the Wall

I decided I'd rather leave the holes visible in the wall and fix them rather than have this unusual item on my wall. The plate on older Nest thermostats is much better.

Would not use it if I could but the old trim kit was covering up some wall damage so need this one too.

Nest Thermostat E and Nest Learning Thermostat include a rectangular trim plate, which is designed to cover any imperfections on the wall. The Nest Thermostat Trim Kit (oval) is intended for Nest Thermostat only and it’s not compatible with Nest Thermostat E and Nest Learning Thermostat. The need for a common (C) wire happens when wires of your system can't deliver enough power to support the Nest thermostat's features. In such cases, installing a common(C) wire between your HVAC and Nest thermostats can help deliver enough power and resolve the problem. If you're willing to try, we recommend contacting a Nest Pro technician to check your system and install the common (C) if needed.
