I have the wired doorbell, and it is totally a 5 star device. The reason tthe battery operated version is ranked lower, is because of how quickly the battery depletes compared to my previous Ring doorbell. Otherwise it is a solid device with good software.

The battery life depends on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios.
Busy: About 1.5 months battery life (about 20 - 25 recorded events per day)
Typical: About 3 months battery life (about 9 - 12 recorded events per day)
Quiet: About 7 months battery life (about 2 - 4 recorded events per day)

Helped to identify teenage pranksters in the neighborhood. Without subscription, video is only kept for three hours. There is a dip in quality with night vision mode. Battery lasts 3-4 months with maximum quality.

It is very good at sensing activity at the front door, and I can view the activity from my phone, which is helpful when someone isn't home. I'm not that technically savvy, and very happy that it's easy to use.

If you intend to add this device to your existing Nest App, IT WILL NOT WORK!!! The door bell works well, installs easily and the vidieo & notification functions are good. However, It will only operate on the Google Home app and will NOT integrate in the existing Nest app. The online forums seem to indicate that Google isn't interested in makin that happen at all. I was seriously dissappointed in having to use two separate apps for my Nest products, but if you are ok using the Google Home app going forward, this device works as advertised.

Buyer should note that battery does not let you have 24/7 recording like the wired ones do.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.been waiting for a battery operated door bell to work with our smart home stuff. our first one had an issue where the battery would not last longer than a week. documentation said it should last 1-3 months. after swapping it out at best buy which was super easy . the new one show a battery life of 3 months left and it been on for over a month alone now.

I’ve had the ring doorbell and cameras for years, recently switched to google cameras to go with the hub so I can watch a livestream of my puppies. Decided to try the google doorbell since they came out with the battery operated and I enjoy it. I’m not sure why so many are upset about the app only allowing through home, home shows all of my stuff in one place and is easy to use. I would recommend. Design of the unit is nice as well, a tad modern but overall looks good on my home.
