A little disappointed

Video is ok for general purpose but you’re not going to see distinguishing details very far away. A major dislike for me would be it doesn’t offer 24hr recording when hardwired. I would recommend for ease of setup and use with the understanding it’s just ok quality and battery version doesn’t offer 24 hr recording when hardwired.

While you may not get continuous recording, you do get the flexibility of choosing if it will be battery operated or wired. Video is clear and it has a great range of the door to the driveway. Only gave it 4 stars because it’s hard to install on my phone after my husband did everything on his.

It has been interesting for us to figure out all of the things that it can do. Sometimes, the sheer number of notifications that one gets can be overwhelming, but we know when packages arrive. The bonus is that I can now determine if the kids walk the dogs as instructed. I wish the Nest Aware subscription was not so expensive.

The battery life depends on factors including activity, temperature, and doorbell settings that you select. You can extend the battery life by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events to monitor specific areas. As for the battery performance in cold weather, the Nest Doorbell (battery) has an outside operating temperature range of -20°C to 40°C (-4°F to 104°F). Using the device above or below the temperature range can cause performance issues. At temperatures below freezing, the lithium-ion battery in your Google Nest doorbell won’t be able to charge. Many devices, including popular models of doorbell cameras and cell phones, use lithium-ion batteries for their high power and long life, but these batteries are also affected by temperatures below freezing. You need to bring it inside to a warm place, preferably at room temperature so the battery can start to charge slowly once its temperature rises past 32°F (0°C). It will charge faster when it warms up.

Good option for a doorbell camera but battery iffy

It will last me about a month and then takes about 6 hours to charge. Still works well overall.

Battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios:
- Busy - About 1 month battery life (about 25 - 30 recorded events per day)
- Typical - About 2.5 months battery life (about 13 - 16 recorded events per day)
- Quiet - About 6 months battery life (about 2 - 5 recorded events per day)
If you’re willing to try, we recommend checking the frequency of events (per day) that you get with your Nest Doorbell (Battery). If the short battery life isn’t related to the frequency of events, then we may need to have a closer look at your Nest Doorbell (Battery) and understand what may be causing it. I find that the nest works well with my other nest products and is made of quality materials. The door bell is battery with up to four months without a charge. Good quality images with history record and sound. Love it.

I used to own a Ring doorbell but at my new house I went with the Nest and love it. Battery percentage remaining is shown quickly on the app, it's easy enough for my 70 year old parents to charge it up when needed, and they absolutely love it!

Decided to get a nest doorbell so that I can be notified. Love all the settings this has. What I am amazed is the battery life. According to google, it last 3 months before I need to fully charge it again. That is only 4 times a year of charging! Amazing! Video and sound quality is superb as well!
