Google Nest Doorbell

Great doorbell

Nest Doorbell (battery) can do visitor announcements on a Google Assistant-enabled speaker or display or the indoor chime. Also, in addition to standard themes or sounds, seasonal doorbell themes are available around some holidays. You can change the theme or set a different chime sound in the app’s doorbell settings, where it automatically goes back after the default tone after the holiday.

Great except didn't meet battery expectations.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Oops, I didn't realize there are 2 versions, I meant to get the wired one apparently. With that being said, this thing is a beast! It's like 30% bigger than my Arlo doorbell. I have yet to install it but I have the same issue as I did going to Arlo, they don't make these things for legacy doorbell retrofits, so my house was built in the 80's and had a standard size hole and mounts in stucco, and I'm not comfortable drilling and mounting in stucco, these doorbells don't ever account for that. Also, a major minus for this is that the battery won't charge off the existing doorbell wiring. If the current transformer can power my Arlo why can't it feed charge to the Nest's battery? I don't need another thing around to unmount and charge periodically. I'm sure this is great for places that have no doorbell or for alternate locations, but not a great start to this product, may return for the wired version

The battery seems to last for a few weeks if you record a lot of footage. The quality is also very good plus adding it to Google Home is pretty simple.

The quality seems really good and the installation was a breeze since I don't have to wire it. Overall really happy with the purchase.

Over time of doing this the mounting clip gets worn and the product does not work efficiently anymore.

Posted .Hey there, VernonR. Sorry to see your experience with the Nest Doorbell (Battery) hasn’t been the best. The device does give you the option of a wired or wire-free installation. Here are the steps to install it:
1. Check compatibility and voltage requirements.
2. Check that you have everything for installation.
3. Turn the power off to your doorbell system.
4. Remove your old doorbell.
5. Connect the doorbell to the app with the QR code.
6. Troubleshoot if needed.
7. Use your doorbell.

Battery life depends on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. That way, you don’t have to charge the battery more often than you should. You may also consider connecting your doorbell to a power outlet with the optional power adapter for continuous power and to keep the battery charged. Here are some typical scenarios.
Busy: About 1.5 months battery life (about 20 - 25 recorded events per day)
Typical: About 3 months battery life (about 9 - 12 recorded events per day)

It connects to my Google home hub and it shows the picture on the screen. Also love how it uses my googles as the speakers for the door bell chime. Easy to install and set up. Wouldn’t go with anything else

I was somewhat skeptical on the use of it at first, but it has been a great addition. I hardwired it so can't speak to the battery life. The picture quality is excellent, even at night (though I do have landscape lighting that helps).

Let's me know if someone is on the porch even if they don't ring the doorbell. This is handy since most delivery drivers don't knock when they leave a package It is nice to be able to go back and review activity.
