Great camera... Wish it had better ways to attach

Best battery doorbell with wired capability

There is no question or issue with the length of battery life. The only concern I have are specifically with the wired and battery capability.If the wires for your previous Doraville aren’t necessarily the strongest the connectors provided with his doorbell are too strong and will continuously break the wire. In light of this I have a resorted to using only the battery, option although my doorbell was previously wired with a compatible smart device

Owned for 1 year when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We purchased the nest wifi video doorbell (battery operated) because the previous owner of our house had cut out the wires for the existing doorbell. I was looking forward to the camera being on the same Google Home account as the rest of our devices in the house. Over the past year, I've learned that the video quality is poor compared to Ring. The battery life is poor (made worse by extreme heat/cold ambient temperatures) also made even worse by the fact that you have to remove the entire device to recharge (which can take up to 10+ hours to recharge). Even with ideal weather, the battery only lasts a little over a week. We have upgraded to a Ring Battery Plus camera that has an easy to remove/replace battery so we can have a backup fully charged. Also, the Ring has better image quality and a wider view angle. Skip the Nest, buy a Ring.

I can easily see who is at the door when I need to. I live in a town where I have to be careful because I have 3 granddaughters that we have to watch at all times.

I recommend tinkering with the settings if you live on a high traffic street/sidewalk as the battery will still eventually die if you're capturing too many events

I'm not the most handy person with installs but I did not have any trouble getting unit installed and then setup on the app. I was up and running in reasonable amount of time.

Connects to all the Google home devices in the house seamlessly. Very active in picking up movement, very satusfied by the quality and clarity…as long as you have good internet!

Just what I was looking for nothing too fancy but with good picture quality. I fully charged it since day 1 and havent had to recharge it eversince (almost 3 weeks)

For the best experience with your Nest Doorbell (Battery), we recommend getting the Nest Aware subscription, as it provides more value for your money with features that include 30 days of Video History, 24/7 continuous recording, access to clips and time lapses and even customizing your own activity zones. You won't ever have to worry about missing any events as these videos and clips are all saved onto the Cloud. All these features can be viewed and controlled at the tip of your fingertips using the Google Home App. However, if you prefer to not have a subscription, your camera can save activity for up to 3 hours before it expires and is deleted. Newer cameras offer up to 3 hours of Event-Based Recording (EBR) for free, while older cameras offer up to 3 hours of photo snapshots for free instead.
