Google wants to force the google home app with these new products but that's a hard pass for me. The Google Home app is terrible in my opinion. Returning this for a Eufy battery doorbell which comes with a chime and a lot of other features you dont have to pay for like you do with the Nest Aware subscription. Google definitely missed the mark on these new products.

Our teams are working on enabling the ability to setup and control older Nest cameras in the Home app so users will have one app to control all of their devices. We’re also working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices. Also unlike others, with google nest you get up to 3 hours of free cloud!!! I say whaaaat!!

Since it has upgraded hardware, the notifications are quick. I love that it has battery backup and on board storage if there is temporary power outage. I didn’t have previous nest products and I don’t have a problem with using the Google Home app like some others do. Great purchase for us. Kids love the holiday seasonal doorbells too.

Thank God it's for my back office because my wife was laughing so hard when she seen this and said "I'd never let you out that massive monstrosity at the front door", I agree. We have a nest hello wired doorbell there which we absolutely love. The video quality of this battery doorbell is horrible compared to any nest cam. The non 24/7 recording is insane to me and a huge bummer.

Nest Doorbell (battery) is designed with a built-in rechargeable battery so that it's flexible to use with or without a wired power connection. While the older Nest Doorbell (wired) requires it to be continuously connected to power with wires, which enables it to have a smaller profile.
