It has a motion sensor that detects movement that tells it to record. When mailman comes, I only see him walking away in video. So it's recording late which misses a lot. They need to fix this.

Your doorbell runs algorithms to process video and audio data so it can determine whether it detected something you might want to know about. If you only need your doorbell to detect people, animals, or moving vehicles, we recommend that you do not turn on the basic motion and sound detection feature. You might have to move your doorbell, change the angle, or change something in the scene so that you don’t miss important activity and choose which events your doorbell can detect and record (people, motion, package etc.).

Seriously for what this thing costs it is pathetic. The battery life is awful and has to be charged almost every week, even with most of the features turned off. Every time I get a notification of an event it says “this video is not available please check back later” It barely records events or will record the last 2 seconds of an event so you miss most of it. Unfortunately I can’t get a refund for this piece of garbage so it will be going on eBay. AVOID THIS THING LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Stinks you can’t add a light. Hard of hearing so… After setup ok I think still not sure about detection. At least I get a notification on my Apple Watch. Still figuring it all out.

It freezes whenever someone rings the doorbell or it takes so much time to load that you might as well just open the door to see who it is. If you get an alert that there is movement, it also freezes. The regular Nest app won’t work with this model so you need to use the Google Home app, which is worse.
