Finally: A battery-powered Nest Doorbell! I use the Google / Nest ecosystem broadly and I like how I get notifications on my phone or my Nest Hubs when someone rings the bell. I also get security notifications when someone (or something) passes by the door at night, e.g. the 12-point buck that happened by the other day! You have to remember to charge it periodically (every few weeks), but it gives you a notification when it's time to do that and it doesn't take very long -- maybe a few hours over the USB-C cord -- and I love that I didn't have to hire an electrician to fix and reroute our wiring.

I have this doorbell wired to my existing doorbell wiring, and it has been decent so far. I like that Google does not require a subscription to Nest Aware to use the product, but without the subscription there are some limitations. The recordings are only available for 3 hours, so if you miss it within that window, you won't have access to the footage. Overall, have no issues.

Feels safer for my packages. Like the alerts to my phone when someone is close, has a package, etc. Just wish they didn't make you get the subscription to unlock all of your past history. It's already pretty expensive as a stand alone device and then they want to charge you monthly to unlock all the features, but you don't necessarily have to.
Hi Marcus, thanks for sharing a review about the Nest Doorbell (battery), and we’re glad that you like the notification feature. Nest has long been focused on delivering quality products to our customers. We’re also focused on giving our customers value for the price, including three hours of event history right out of the box for the first time ever. On-device processing also gives our customers smart alerts and Activity Zones, which historically have required a subscription. There's no fee to stream full resolution live video and receive basic notifications, as long as your camera is connected to the internet. And the Nest Cam (battery) comes with event video history without a subscription which will automatically expire and be deleted after 3 hours. However, you’ll need a Nest Aware subscription to receive full and extra features. Check what you can get with the Nest Aware subscription here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9233159
Hi Dashcam, thanks for sharing your feedback with us, and we’re sorry to hear that your Nest Doorbell (Battery) drains a little quickly.
Your Nest doorbell could be detecting a lot of activities, as the battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and doorbell settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your doorbell by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. This link might be helpful: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10901611
Also, if you have to charge the battery more often than you should, you may consider connecting your doorbell to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter. Please note that the power adapter included with the Nest Doorbell (battery) is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use. You can also connect your Nest doorbell to the doorbell system wires if you have one. Connecting to continuous power will keep the battery charged.
We may be able to check for other reasons why the battery drains quickly, so we can find a way to help improve your experience. You may contact us anytime here for further isolation and troubleshooting: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Love it so far. You do need to mesh this with a nest or other system for a chime. Greta alternative if you don't have a wired unit. Excellent picture quality

The picture and sound were great on the device. The notifications was poor on device. It missed several notifications and also had long delays in sending the notifications. The cool down period was not good. I went back to ring and very satisfied.
