This is a great doorbell. Since it has upgraded hardware, the notifications are quick. I love that it has battery backup and on board storage if there is temporary power outage. I didn’t have previous nest products and I don’t have a problem with using the Google Home app like some others do. Great purchase for us. Kids love the holiday seasonal doorbells too.

Huge disappointment! First off, it's massive. Thank God it's for my back office because my wife was laughing so hard when she seen this and said "I'd never let you out that massive monstrosity at the front door", I agree. We have a nest hello wired doorbell there which we absolutely love. The video quality of this battery doorbell is horrible compared to any nest cam. The non 24/7 recording is insane to me and a huge bummer.
Hi tlm4594, thanks for sharing your feedback with us. We're sorry to hear about your disappointment with the new Nest Doorbell (Battery).
Nest Doorbell (battery) is designed with a built-in rechargeable battery so that it's flexible to use with or without a wired power connection. While the older Nest Doorbell (wired) requires it to be continuously connected to power with wires, which enables it to have a smaller profile.
We also wanted to optimize battery life with your Nest Doorbell (Battery), hence the reason we went with event video history. If you are interested in 24/7 continuous video history, consider one of our wired Nest cameras or the wired Nest Hello Doorbell.
Your Nest Doorbell (battery) captures and records videos in 960p at 3:4 aspect ratio. This helps save battery life while still recording videos with HDR video quality that’s optimized for a clear view in bright sun or dark.
Hi there, AbrahamG. Thank you for sharing your review on the Nest Doorbell (battery). We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing some battery issues with the device. The battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and selected camera settings. If your device averages about 13 - 16 recorded events per day, then the battery life should last about 2.5 months. If this is not what you're experiencing, then we recommend reaching out to our team of specialists, so we can help find a better resolution for you. Perfect doorbell/camera. It allows you to put name to faces it sees so itll tell you who's at the door. It'll let you know if someone has a package. It's battery last crazy long and it doesn't take long to charge it.

The app is glitchy sometimes. I thought maybe it was due to the camera being set up on battery so I went through the trouble of wiring it hoping it would improve but the troubles connecting are still there. Camera quality for streaming/saved videos is trash. I suspect google is trying to save on bandwidth on their servers so they purposely degrade the camera quality. I have a camera with Simplisafe that is also 1080p and camera quality is significantly better. I would return if I didn’t already have so much invested.
Hi Eddy, thanks for bringing this issue to our attention. We're sorry to hear about the glitchy issue you are experiencing with the Google Home app, and the poor video quality you get with the Nest Doorbell (Battery).
The glitchy issues and poor video quality you are experiencing may be caused by connectivity issues in your network. Here are some suggested troubleshooting steps you can try out: - Check your Nest Doorbell´s distance from the router or access point. - Restart your Nest Doorbell. Locate the reset pinhole on the back of the doorbell. Press and hold for 5 seconds. Your doorbell will restart, and the status light will be steady, solid white. - Restart your router. - Check for interference. Almost every network is subject to wireless interference which can cause problems when connecting your camera to the Google Home app. Check for any wireless interference that may be caused by thick walls and floors, competing Wi-Fi networks, from other electronics in your home. - Check for possible congestion. Removing some of your devices that's connected to your network may help relieve some bandwidth space.

Overall pretty good item the only thing I would say is that it would be best if you have a google environment present like google hub which will allow for a much better experience.
