I was planning to buy iphone...then i heard that google is coming up with Nexus S phone, so i waited and ordered it for the Christmas. After using the ipod touch for last two years and all of sudden started using this phone, made me feel free of all those boxes in ipod. As u all know ipod touch is iphone with out phone. This phone is fast, the processor humming bird is real fast. Graphics are good and live wallpapers load really fast. I like the way Android Gingerbread 2.3 is developed ease of use, widgets, live wallpapers, navigation, maps and all. The only defaults are lack of HD video recording and external storage. Other than that everything in the phone is perfect. This one is the real competitor for iPhone thats for sure....... Watch out Apple....

I love this phone. I'm extremely impressed with all it's features & everything else that it has to offer. No major let downs what so ever. Only found 3 minor flaws thus far: 1 - No camera zoom (though you can zoom in on the pic afterwards) 2 - Alarm is weak (do NOT depend on it to wake you up) 3 - Battery takes a really long time to charge (though it does hold a charge pretty well) ....but other than those 3 extremely MINOR flaws, everything else about the phone is most definitely top notch, in my opinion. I would actually go so far as to say that it's probably the best product that I've ever bought. I'm very impressed with it & would highly recommend the Nexus S to everyone!!

Coming from a Motorola Droid the NS felt cheap at first because it was so light. However after a full day's use I realize what a great phone it is. The screen is superb. I like it better than my friend's iphone 4 retina display. The only complaint I have is the lack of an led notification. I used to love that feature on my droid.

First thing you'll notice is that it is plastic but it does feel very solid in the hand. The curved design of the phone looks great to me and it is very comfortable to hold. The 'lip' on the back bottom of the phone makes it easy to take it out of your pocket. The phone does not have an SD card slot. The internal 16 gig memory should be enough for average user. That 16 Gigs, after format, is actually split into 2 partitions (think 2 different parts on one card), one just for applications, which is 1 gig of space; and other is for all of your stuff like pictures, music, videos, which gives you around 13.6 gigs. To give you some perspective, I personally have 62 pictures, 23 music videos, 775 mp3's - about 100 albums; and I still have 4.7 gigs of space left. The camera on the phone is good. Pictures looks great. Videos, however, are just ok, can use some improvement. Great thing about this phone is the flash on the camera, which can be handy for more than a camera - its very bright and can be used as a flashlight! The phone it self is very fast and responsive and virtually all things on it can be customized. The customization level on these high-end Android phones is insane! One thing that does annoy me sometimes is the picture/video gallery on the phone, sometimes it takes a while to load, which can be annoying if you want to show some pictures to somebody. Battery on the Nexus S is good. It'll last about a day and a half with average use (for me at least). If you're a heavy gamer or if you surf the web with WiFi you'll have to charge by the end of the day. The phone is unlocked from the start and can be used on any network that supports the phone's GSM & HSPA frequencies. The phone is also sold without all the bloatware like a lot of other phones. Overall, this is a great phone, one of the best out there.

Best android phone on the market.

This phone is intended for android purists that may even develop applications for the mobile os platform. That said I have owned one since it's release last December and have been satisfied with this device. First the design is striking. It also serves a purpose, if you drop the phone accidentally (and you will) the glass is much less prone to shattering due to the contour design. Did i mention it looks fantastic? The 1 Ghz "Hummingbird" processor coupled with integrated GPU translates into video and 3D graphics that are superior to any other cell phone presently on the market. Web browsing is lightning fast (faster than any other phone on the market presently) on this device in large part to a pure Google 2.3 build (the latest and greatest version). That means you will not find pre installed UI like htc "sense" or motorola "motoblur" or even samsung's own TouchWiz to slow it down. Instead you get a clean slate of pure android goodness to customize the phone and truly make your own. In everyday use the phone is fantastic. Live widgets on the super crisp super AMOLED are vibrant, easy to view as text is easy to read and sace alot of time rather than having to go inside an app. The push features tool bar (another big time save) is now black instead of gray. It actually draws less power from the battery and is easier to read, though some may not like it. Another minor gripe is the lack of an led indicator light. My nexus one had it and I found it an invaluable tool when using sound or light is not an option or inconvenient. But these are minor gripes. This NFC or Near Field Communication chip seems promising, but I can't use it right now so it's hardly relevant. Lastly, the phone is manufactured by Samsung. The second largest cell phone manufacturer in the world behind Nokia. That said the phone felt cheap at first. But after more than 3 weeks of hard use, it's very durable. It's light to the touch and feels just right when making voice calls. The reception is clear on most calls, but this has more to do with carrier service than hardware. Which brings me to another puzzling omission, the nexus one had to microphones. One was used for noise cancelling the other for speaking. Why was this feature was also omitted from this iteration of Google's flagship device remains a mystery. And the inevitable. I presently own a 4th generation ipod touch which also runs apple's latest ios 4.2.1. It's not a smart phone but a lot of the features both hardware and software on the device carry over from the iphone 4. For what it's worth gingerbread 2.3 seems to lack the polish of apple's os. But this android build is noticeably faster from web browsing to running multiple apps.

    Amazing Smartphone

I was looking for a new phone to upgrade to, from my previous flip phone, the RAZR 2. I did a lot of research because this was going to be my first smartphone and I wanted to pick a good one. After a while I settled on the Nexus S and I am happy to say that I can't go through life without an Android phone. The Operating System is fast and sleek, there are tens of thousands of apps for practically anything you can imagine. I read ebooks between classes on my phone, I listen to music while walking to and from class, I use the GPS while I'm driving, I surf the net when I'm bored standing in line, I can do anything. Best of all the phone is so customizable. I have a video running as my wallpaper! All my contacts are easily synced with Facebook, so when I receive a call, their Facebook profile picture pops up on my phone so I can quickly know who is calling. As for the actual construction of the phone, it is fairly solid. I have a case for it that removes all worry of any damage, but I don't even use a screen protector and there are NO scratches! The battery life is really good, but could be better, however, it is a smartphone after all and battery life will depend on how much you use all the features. The phone quality/reception is great and I've never had a dropped call or any noise disturbances. Overall, I think it is a great phone and I highly recommend it. The absolute BEST part of the phone is that it is PURE Android, so it is currently running Gingerbread OS (2.3) while the majority of other Android phones are running Froyo (2.2). This phone will receive all updates before any other. I love this phone.

Best Android experience I've had so far

Came from many years of a Blackberry Curve, which I thought did everything a cell phone should do better than any "smart phone" out there except for the screen size, web browser, and apps. So I purchased a Vibrant. Liked it for the 2 weeks I had it, but it had a tendency to stutter a lot on web pages, app store, etc and the battery life wasn't much better than most smart phones. Heard about this coming out and had to jump on it. My experience is that it has great reception so far, decent sound quality for calls and mp3s. Doesn't stutter - very smooth on web pages and mostly everything else. My only slight niggle about this phone is something I actually don't care much about, but it's worth mentioning to those that do care - the camera is just so-so. Not that it sucks, but it doesn't reach the quality level of the rest of the phone. Not a biggie for me, but that's the worst of it I think. Most anything else that may not do it for you can be bested by better apps in the market (ie download Swype Beta - best keyboard out there for me coming from a touch key phone).. The other thing worth mentioning is the battery life is actually very good for this type of phone.Very happy that if I'm not on it constantly like a 20 year old with no life, it lasts at least 2 full days. Oh yeah, do I need mention that the screen is great, and everything works (GPS, WiFi, turn by turn directions, etc). Never dropped a single call yet, except to my iPhone buddies, which, guess what, wasn't my phone. Of course the specs will likely be bested in 2 to 6 weeks by something else, but this wins for the instant Android OS updates, and it's plenty fast enough. Hey, and it was the first phone I've ever carried to Japan that worked perfectly (on a business trip there every few years).

This phone is awesome. Don't listen to people complaining about features that no one ever uses or that don't really make a difference. Pros: - Extremely Fast (Boots in 1/2 the time of my Nexus One) - Screen is awesome. Super sharp and clear. - Front facing camera is cool to have for video chat though it probably won't get used too much by most people. - LED Flash is awesome (Works well as a flash light as soon as someone makes an app that works with it or updates an existing one) - Looks and feels awesome. (A lot more comfortable and better looking than most phones out now) Cons: - No LED notifications (This was a nice feature on the Nexus One but can only be used if your phone out in front of you or somewhere where you can see it. - No SD Card Slot (No biggie has 16GB built in [13GB usable] which should be plenty for most people) Other Comments (Mostly ranting about stuff people complain about): - No HDMI out (Really?! Why does anyone need this? Will you carry around a proprietary HDMI cable with you just so you can watch low res movies/videos on an HD screen?) - No Bluetooth 3.0 (Who cares... it still has headset/stereo bluetooth support and supports more bluetooth functionality then most phones) - No 4G (4G is not available in most places and will not make that much of a difference browsing web sites on your phone... the only thing this would be nice for is for uploading/downloading videos, tethering) - No 8 MP Camera (This is a phone not a camera. Even if they put a 12MP camera in the quality would still be poor unless they make the phone 3 times thicker and add better optics. If you need to take good photos use a real camera) - GPS has issues like the Galaxy S (These are lies. It finds my location faster than my Nexus One)

Nexus S is a Beautiful Phone

In all honesty I originally purchased this device because it was a Nexus and it will get the latest Android software quickly. Compared to other phones which have other companies user interfaces software built in. With other phones on T-Mobiles network such as the G2 and My Touch4G it was a hard choice. Once I saw it I knew the pictures didn't do it justice. I had originally not liked the overall design, but in person it is sharp. When the phone is off it is just a black slab and looks very futuristic. And personally I love the design. A friend that I work with who is an iPhone owner complimented on how good it looked. The screen is great the colors are vibrant. The camera takes excellent pictures the best I've seen on a cell phone. The thing that is most incredible about the devices is its speed. Even with live wallpapers and multiple apps running there is no lag. The Specs weren't top of the line when they came out for example no HD video recording, , 512mb of RAM. The My Touch 4G is better in both respects. Along with the fact there is no Notification LED Light and no physical camera button and no HSPA+ T-Mobiles 4G network. These are the only down sides to the device while none of these features are essential they would have been nice. In terms of browsing speed even though the device is not HSPA+ I still reach download speeds of 5mbps or more at times. Consistently at my house I avg between 4-5mbps which is great. My upload speeds are always consistently above 1mbps at times reaching close to 2mbps. I normally wouldn't buy a phone without a keyboard. I have relatively big hands and had struggled with other touch screens in the past. I must say the Nexus S is spot on with its touch screen and I enjoy the all touch experience something I would have guaranteed would have been an aspect I would have complained about before my purchase. Some people will complain about the lack of an microSD card slot. I personally understand why they left it out and don't mind not having it. 16gb is more than enough memory. What many people don't realize when purchasing these cards is that there are different quality cards in which not all microSD cards are created equal. There are different data transfer speeds and buying a cheap SD card will perform slowly. For the overall speed and performance Google and Samsung decided to keep all memory internal which will better overall performance. On my average workday I can get two days if I use it normally. If i play games or heavy internet surfing I have to charge it every night. Since getting the phone the day it came out it has always lasted a full day and regularly has over 30% battery left before bed. Overall I was surprisingly delighted with the Nexus S. It looked much better than in pictures. I thought I wouldn't like not having a keyboard, but it is perfectly fine with me now. Battery life is great. I like the stock Android OS compared to what the other companies put on their phones and the promise of timely updates from Google is a huge plus. This is the only phone I would buy on the market.

December 17th was my one year anniversary with this phone. I bought it on the day it first came out last year for T-Mobile. I have been very pleased and satisfied with this phone. It has everything a smartphone would offer: GPS, Bluetooth, front/back cameras, speaker, headset jack, NFC (a bonus), excellent hardware that keeps the phone runs smooth and fast, beautiful elegant design but sturdy. The Samsung SuperAMOLED screen is beautifully vibrant. The 5 Megapixel camera takes beautiful pictures. What I like most about this phone is it is pure Google, SIM unlocked, 100% stock Android, no carrier's pre-installed crapwares. Since it is a Google phone, it's receiving quick OS updates and patches from Google. One recent example is Google just pushed out the latest Android OS - Ice Cream Sandwich for this phone. I was super excited! Ice Cream Sandwich makes my super Nexus S like a brand new phone. It changes the user experience greatly with lots of new features and user interface. This phone has many great potential features to be unlocked. After couple months of owning this phone, I rooted this phone and installed custom Android ROMs. Rooting this phone and installing custom ROMs cannot be any easier on this phone. I have so much fun with customizing and enhancing this phone. I highly recommend the Nexus phones.

    Google's Flagship Smartphone

Not perfect, but the best effort yet in the Android vs ios (Apple inc.) war for market dominance. I presently own an HTC nexus one. Awesome phone. But you want to read about the Nexus S so here goes nothing. Bought the phone on December 16th and haven't used my nexus one since. Gingerbread 2.3 is the star here. Battery life will remain an issue for smartphones since applications like to run in the background (even when you are not using your phone they are running) so i recommend a good task/app manager. That said I can go a full day on one charge with the screen brightness set at 50%. Does not support HSDPA+ (T-Mobile's 4G). The super AMOLED screen is gorgeous to behold. Everything looks vivid and crisp. The contour screen / design looks different in a nice way that is noticeable (you will receive compliments) and just feels right against my cheek during calls. This phone is FAST. It's no contest between my beloved nexus one and the S. The 1 Ghz hummingbird in the S shows the 1Ghz snapdragon (nexus one) it's grown long in the tooth. Running Epic games "Dungeon Defenders" on both side by side tells no lies about hardware performance. Don't take my word for it. Download the game and run it on your froyo 2.2 equipped phone. You'll chuck it. The S wins hands down. 16 gigs internal memory. Be warned memory is not expandable. If you need more than 16 look elsewhere. 5 mega-pixel camera with dual mode led flash (it has macro mode! this is huge if you consider yourself a photog and another benefit of gingerbread). 1.3 mp front facing camera. Be warned you will have to down load an app to use voice calling. "Tango" works best. Why Samsung? Next to HTC's nexus one it feels light but decidedly not cheap. I cannot attest to it's durability and would rather not find out. That said I have used it for a month. No issues whatsoever. Consider random force closing while running applications a thing of the past. This has been a problem up to and including android froyo 2.2. I have my S loaded on apps and only the latest most advanced task intensive 3D games. It does not falter. From a software standpoint, this is where the nexus S really comes into it's own. Gingerbread 2.3 is powerful. It's refined. It turns this piece of samsung hardware into a superphone! Multitasking, the speed of opening and closing apps, playing 3D intensive games, watching video is all accomplished with a refinement not seen on android until now. This truly gives apple inc's ios 4.2 a run for it's money. In the end nexus S is Google's best attempt to dethrone apple's iphone 4 to date. But that should not matter. Android is about giving the end user the power to customize the phone exactly the way you want attributed in no small part to the genius operating system. With so many handsets and carriers to choose from there is something for everyone when shopping for an android phone. And choice is good. This just happens to be the most powerful android phone . . . for now.

I was very happy with my Google Nexus One, so it seemed to me the Nexus S would be "the" toy to buy for X-Mas ! Well, let me tell you, I have been rather disappointed. To sum it up : PROS: - Nice looks, size, weight, fit and finish - Great screen (if you are not in direct sunlight) - Easy to set up and to use. - Fast - No need to pay for "cloud sync" - Google Market easy to use and straightforward CONS: - Limited memory space for programs - No memory card slot - Terrible screen in direct sunlight - Battery eats up very fast (if you use the GPS feature) - No way you can set up a video chat. Hey, this is an Android, made by Google, and G Talk does not even allow a video chat ! Neither does Fring or Skype. So why am I paying for a front facing camera ? Just to say that I have an iPhone 4 copycat ? At least Apple offers FaceTime ! Just hope that Google and Samsung work out a fast fix for this.

Ok simple plain and simple the phone is a beast for the current mobile standards with the current state until dual cores next year. But if you want gurranteed new updates with in a month of their releases then get it. Thephone has the nice screen humming bird proccessor GINGERBREAD android 2.3 NFC(near field communications chip). Front and back camera and the only thing lakcing is tmobiles 4g or HSPA. the bigger reasons for that is because the phone is suppossed 2 be carrier independent and if it were 2 go with tmobiles 4g that would make it more dependent. ANywho not a big deal i speed tested my NExus @ 6-10 mbps amazing right? thats more than alot of peoples internet. SO dont let 4g fool you my G2 only hits 6-8 and its in and out; So anways if your liek me a android freak that was stuck on a bad phone (pssst the MOTO CLIQ) and a bad MAker (pst Motorola) then this is a good time 2 turn a new leaf and upgrade.

I've been an android addict since T-Mobile and Google released the G1 just two short years ago, and I'm on my 3rd android device, the Nexus One being the third, and I have to say this phone has a lot to love and loathe. Firstly, Google's Android OS Gingerbread 2.3 is wonderful. Truthfully, there isn't much surface difference between 2.2 and 2.3, but the changes that are noticeable are great. Improved dialer, updated icons, etc. And being a pure Google experience phone, means this will be the first device updated to Honeycomb in March with no carrier or EOM interference. Also awesome. The drawbacks have nothing to do with the software, it's the hardware. The Super AMOLED screen is amazing. The best screen available on any android device, it's far superior even to the screen on the Galaxy Tab. I hold the two side by side and there's a noticeable difference. The phone is very light weight due to the plastic casing Samsung is notorious for, but that doesn't detract from the beauty of the device. If anything it gives it a shiny sleek appearance. The problems are what it doesn't have. No trackball/trackpad. No LED notification. No HDMI out. No microSD card slot. No (much hyped, rumored) dual-core processor. The hummingbird processor is great. The phone's even more responsive than the Nexus One was with Froyo, so the dual-core processor would have been nice, but the phone is in no way laggy. However, with only 16 GB of internal storage, with the OS installed on 2 GB and 1 GB reserved for apps, which is a hell of a lot more than the Nexus One, if you're a media hog, you can easily run out of space. And with no expandable memory slot, well space is at a premium if you're trying to hold hundreds of photos, videos, and mp3s. No HDMI out is the one I don't understand. The Evo had it months ago! And then no LED notification?! Thankfully, there's an app for that NoLED is free and provides an energy efficient solution. And the trackball/trackpad is solved by the presence of a software cursor, so... All in all, what it has is amazing. What it lacks is sorely missed.

Using the Phone Will Drain Your Battery

I owned the Nexus One and it began to get a little lethargic so I decided to upgrade to the Nexus S. I love the big bright and responsive screen, the flashing command buttons and the general speediness of the phone. If you're looking for the pure Google experience without any bloatware or functions disabled, this is your phone. Cons: no flashing light for notifications. The iPhone doesn't have one, but that's one of its downfalls...no need to copy the iPhone. No 4G-- that's just dumb (but I still chose the phone for its speediness). No scroll button or scroll finger pad. This isn't horrible, but sometimes, you can't click the right place (I'm talking about you, Google spreadsheets for mobile) and it gets downright frustrating. Oh, and if you use this phone as a phone without any apps on it, I'm sure it's gets somewhere near the hours of life they claim. But I use it for about 30 minutes at lunch time to read news and when I get back to the office, I have less than 70% of my battery remaining. The battery life is dismal on this phone. You can buy a separate battery directly from Samsung ($40).

I was sick and tired of my HTC Touch Pro II, so I decided to get a new one. I was thinking of getting another smartphone, but then looked at my android options. At first the Samsung Galaxy S looked good, but then I saw the Nexus S from Google! I ordered it and when I got it in the mail, I immediately started to play around with it. Its super fast, fast response to touch, very little (if any) lag, and I LOVE it! The features I really enjoy about this phone are: 1. All the apps on the Android market! -I love the variety and ability to search for them and have automatic updates, lots of fun free things on the market! 2. You can open multiple windows when on the browser! -This is awesome because on my old phone I could only have one window open at a time! 3. Vibrant colors -The color and quality of the screen is so bright, it has a slightly curved screen to make watching movies seem more 3D, its great! 4. Quick response to touch -There's no lag whatsoever when it comes to touching a certain area of the screen, its pin-point exact where you want it to be! There's more, but I feel like I'm rambling lol The only downside about this phone I can think of is that it doesn't have a memory card slot. But then again it does have 16GB built in memory, so there isn't really a NEED for a memory card, plus some apps wont work with a memory card, so there you go, problem solved! I'm usually a phone hopper, I have a phone for about 2 months and then start to get tired and annoyed with it and then end up getting another phone the next year (mind you, I have T-mobile, so they have 2 year contracts, which suck, so I'm paying more money than I should buying a new phone every year lol) but I don't think that'll be the case with this phone. All-in-all I really love this phone!!

First of all I love the size and shape of this phone. A lot of Android phones are blocky bricks. The feel and weight of the Nexus S is something I really like about it. I was surprised to see that it was actually slightly larger than my girlfriend's iPhone 4, because it doesn't look or feel like it is. The gently-curved Gorilla Glass screen is a nice touch The best thing about this phone however, is the OS. This is a pure Google Android phone, without any additional interface added by the manufacturer or carrier. It's performance is smooth and snappy. I've only had to reboot it a couple of times, one due to text messages that got stuck on "sending..." when my connection dropped out, and the other due to photos not showing up in the album browser, but another great thing is that the boot time is really short. There are a couple of drawbacks to this phone for me, the first of which is the battery life. I would rather they'd added just a tiny more bulk for a few hundred more mAh. On a busy work day or where my connection is spotty, I've had it run out of juice on me in under 12 hours. It also seems to charge back up very slowly compared to my last phone. The other main problem I have is with the WiFi reception. With a normal home WiFi router, I can barely make it to the end of the hall without losing connection. The only place it's useful is in an office setting where the router is right there in the same room. I haven't had it impact me yet, but I would rather the phone had removable storage instead of built-in. 16GB just isn't very much when you start putting bunch of music or videos on the phone. All-in-all, it's a great phone and I am really enjoying it.

Overall I really love this phone. I was a long-time iPhone user and the switch has made me happy. However, the quality of apps on the store is not nearly as good as the AppStore on iPhone. Pros: - Maps & Navigation have more features than iPhone - Very fast processor - Incredible display resolution - Great camera Cons: - Battery life runs out quickly - No slot for an SD card, you're stuck with 16 GB on board memory - Had some odd random crashes and issues with the phone answering or having the phone reboot during a call

I have been looking for an upgrade phone and when Best Buy put this up for free I jumped on it. Honestly I wanted the Atrix but I'm glad I held out. This phone delviers all I want and more. Very fast for all apps and syncs flawlessly. The screen is very clear and looks large for being a somewhat smaller screen than other smartphones in this category. The call quality is very good as well and speaker is clear and loud. The only issue I have right now is that the battery only charges to 95%. Contacted Samsung and they told me to buy another battery, that didn't seem very helpful to me. I was hoping they would just send me another one but no such luck. I'll live with this minor issue for now until I can't charge past 50%. The battery lasts about two days even with medium amount of app use. I'm a big Google fan and this brings all the best of Google's products close at hand. This is one of the best phones for AT&T imho. Gave this 4 stars bk of the dissappointment with Samsung customer service, otherwise awesome phone!

    Nexus S of Surprise

I've spent much shopping for the right phone for me. And I have read a lot about this phone before buying one. My initial thought was I didn't think the Nexus S was going to fulfill my expectation. Because the cameras and multimedia feature is only 5 megapixels (2560x1920) and has only 16GB iNAND flash memory (with no option to expand). Surprisingly, it turned out better than I had expected... It's very fast. Although for the price I've paid I was expecting the camera pixel to be higher than 5 but the features let you play with the focus mode, exposure, Macro mode, etc., of which, I am content! Everything else that this phone have made up for what it lacks. I, especially, love that I can customized how I want things arranged and looked, monitoring what is draining my battery, the live wallpaper, Wi-Fi hotspot, NFC (even though in its early stage), the apps (I even likes it better than the iPhone version), and the pre-installed Google apps, Google Search, Google Maps with Navigation (Beta), Mobile Instant, Voice Actions, Gmail, Google Earth and etcetera. The list goes on...
