Picks up sound much better, though it picks up ALL sound better (Wind, movement, breathing). The one con for me is that it makes changing batteries on the fly a bit of a challenge.

I didn’t know that it had a mic until reading the package in BBY. Perfect and snug fit right out of the box!

I definitely handle it with care when I put it on and take it off of my go pro. I also try to make sure I sit it somewhere safe when its not in use.

My only wish is that it isn't waterproof, what am I to do when it's raining, try to hold an umbrella while I'm taking the shot. And if I need an external mic to all this, where am I to put it.

You can add later the screen and the light for a full pkg. The boom microphone is great but NOT top of the like like a sure brand.

Works great but the future of mod add on components should not include access ports. The media mod does it’s job though.

With two cold shoes and a built in directional mic, it makes the Hero 8 much more useful. It also has a jack for an additional mic and a usb c port for charging.
