After being diagnosed with LBD, I couldn't use the smart phone I had to get a more simple phone. So far this phone is working out great for me.

I bought this for my 86 year old father who will likely only use the phone and maybe text. It was important to have a full keyboard and for him not to press “2” three times to get the letter C. I customized the home screen to ONLY include phone and text icons. Instead of “contacts” it’s called “People.” The font is really large and the volume is loud. I really liked the simplicity of the phone and I spent a lot of time researching it. The staff at the Best Buy store told me it wasn’t available to see in person and I had to order it online. Wrong. Their Best Buy Mobile store at the mall had them in stock.

Senior husband could not operate a standard cellphone so tried jitterbug. Menus laid out very easy and he can now make own phone calls. Getting phone activated is another story. Tried setting it up for husband by internet. By morning phone not activated. Trying to call for activation means going through many options until you get a live voice. Because i set the phone up in my husbands name and did not put my name on account i created a soon to be nightmare. So beware if you set this up for someone else you will not be able to get into the account for changes if you are a caretaker. Horrible customer service for a easy and good phone. Everything business wise done by phone.

Outstanding instructions that are clear and understandable, written so that a newbie can get up and running quickly. The phone is easy to use and has many of the features that the expensive phones have, some of which surprised me. I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone.

Great phone and easy to use. We chose the HUGE font so it is easy to read. We have not figured out how to save texted images to the gallery and the manual does not explain this. There should be a way. Right?

For anyone wanting a simple smartphone with the ability to get help when needed, this is your phone. Font is large and clear, ringer volume is loud. Phone menu is keep simple with the ability to get more detailed for the experienced user. Camera is 5mp and takes great pics. It is on the Verizon towers and network, and you get to choose all options for your plan. So you monthly bill can be as low as $20 to $100 dollars a month.

Great Calls Jitterbug Smart Phone and 5 Star

There are many choices of phones and plans with less cost. I chose the Jitterbug Smart Phone which eliminates the use of my alert system that only goes 300 ft. The other features I think are great and 3 choices there also. Especially for me for emergencies Health and Safety, 5 Star, Urgent Care, Great Call Link to Family, Med Coaches, Checkup Calls etc. You couldn't ask for more. I just got mine setup and it was so easy. I called in and talked to a PERSON right away. She helped me not only set it up but get my number from my old phone for me. I couln't even get a person on the phone with my previous cell company and when I went to their store they said no they wouldn't help. The gal from Great Calls showed me what to do and also about the Tutitoials on line. This is the best experience I have had with a cell phone company or any company for that matter. I'm a happy Grandmother!

I am not one to keep my cell phone on continuously, but felt a need to use one occasionally for various reasons. I also need to text family members occasionally, so didn't want to spend a great deal of money on a phone or service provider. The Jitterbug and Great Call service provided me with what I need at this time. Great Call has a choice of plans that fit the "senior" age group, and the phone provides all the options I need--text messages, phone, internet, camera, calendar, plus more--at a cost lower than any of the plans I have come across. The User Guide that comes with it is written well, has a good index, and complete instructions. The letters/numbers/symbols are spaced so it is easy to get my messages right the first time. Whenever I have had a question, the User Guide has solved my problem. I am happy with my phone and recommend it.

Wanted a reliable phone without a lot of bloatware; any smart phone is going to have a lot of extra nonsense but Great Call has a fairly simple phone without too much of it. They also use the Verizon network so it is much more reliable than my last provider. Also, kudos to Best Buy! They price matched the online price from the company and helped me through the process of getting it setup and activated.

This phone is really made for Senior Citizens. The phone buttons are large and easy to use, the camera takes good quality photos, it is Bluetooth compatible, and there is room for apps you want to add. There is some bloatware, but it can be disabled or even uninstalled. You can add a micro SD card for more memory.

This is a really easy phone to use. One wonderful option that love and appreciate is that I can hear really well on this phone. Since I have poor hearing...this is a plus! Thanks to jitterbug it is not embarrassing to talk on the phone now.

This smartphone has big numbers and is easy to,use. Big screen makes it easy to see. The only problem i had is I have a disability and my fingers lock and I drop things. The phone was hard for me to,hold on too. I wish I could have, it's a great phone.

I'm a senior citizen and after years of using a flip phone, I decided to finally switch to a smart phone. After reading an AARP newsletter that recommended the Jitterbug Smart for seniors who may be considering a smart phone, I purchased it at Best Buy, and I'm pleased that I did. It's easy to use, and Great Call provides excellent customer service for any questions I've contacted them about.

My 80 year old mother has never used anything but a flip phone, which was on its last legs. She was actually asking for a GPS, and I wondered if there might be a basic smartphone she could handle. This fits the bill. A basic home screen with large "lines" across the screen (instead of small icons), for phone, texting, email, maps; other apps are viewable by hitting an "All Apps" button, but she will rarely, if ever, use them so I left those off the Home screen. Was able to put her on a plan with minimal minutes and data, and it costs $37/month. Can also add a service to call for medical help, will probably add that at some point.

We purchased this phone for my 85 yr. old father who had no experience with smartphones or computers. I preloaded all his contacts in Google which makes it easy for me to update the phone from 500 miles away. The customer service with Great Call is excellent and very skilled with responding to older costumers. The DVD that they mail you after establishing service was exactly what my dad needed to gain confidence answering the phone and placing calls. Eventually we will Skype with him- right now he is still on a learning curve. I loaded the 360 Family app through Google Play so I can monitor my dad’s travels (he still drives). The 5Star Service with Great Call is highly responsive and gives me additional peace of mind. He called them accidentally and hung up. As a result they called me to verify he was ok since he wasn’t answering their return call. To put it simply, This phone is perfect for someone new to smartphones or who would benefit from 5Star when walking alone through a dark parking lot or in case of a real emergency. Besides, the price is right.

Best smart phone ever for the person who needs a cell phone but doesn't want or need all the bells and whistles of an iPhone. This 'Jitterbug' phone (aka Great Talk) uses the Verizon network, so coverage nationwide is virtually guaranteed. Only drawbacks to this phone is that you cannot use it while it is being charged, and it does take a little longer than other phones to 'turn on'. Otherwise, great call and sound quality, easy features to learn, awesome phone for seniors or emergency use.

I had reviewed this phone on the Internet and also through the AARP magazine as a purchase for my Mother. She is not as "techy" so I wanted to get her an up-to-date smart phone that was easy to use. So far it's been a great purchase and my Mother is able to use it on a daily basis.
