For the price it's hard to find a better option. To get the negatives out of the way, the speakers are not good (this is the case with almost any TV), the viewing angles quickly deteriorate when viewed from anywhere except straight on, and our first unit came absolutely wrecked. Best Buy replaced the damage unit with no issues and that is not an issue with Hisense so it is not reflected in my 5 star rating. The picture quality and brightness are fantastic especially given the price. It will be difficult to find another true HDR experience without shelling out a lot more.
PROs:
- grey screen uniformity is solid
- the screen gets bright enough to use in a bright room
- Android TV is fast, easy to understand, and supports 4k HDR+ content natively
- the local dimming is really effective and while blacks aren't as perfect as on an OLED for a traditional LCD VA panel they are very solid
- native 4k 120hz support and excellent response time for gaming
- the design is appealing and does not stick out, this display should work in almost any room
- the stand is high enough to fit most soundbars without blocking the screen (something that will be important)
- the remote utilizes Bluetooth which means a direct line of sight is not needed and the remote cannot be "blocked" from seeing the TV
CONs:
- the speakers are not good. They sound tinny and lack bass response. This is likely going to be the case with any TV and if you can plan to pair your display with a decent soundbar.
- the port selection is decent but not fantastic. Only two of the ports are HDMI 2.1 and one of those will probably be taken by eARC.
- viewing angles are not good. If you require visibility from multiple angles look elsewhere

I'm seriously impressed by the quality of this television when it comes to gaming and watching movies. At first, it had a severe ghosting problem when playing games on the 120hz HDMI port, but a firmware update released just a few days after I bought it cleared it up completely. Now, this TV is one of the best investments I've ever made. Goes toe-to-toe with my brothers Samsung OLED TV that cost almost twice as much, and now we're talking about buying another one for the shared gaming room down the road.
This TV has extremely easy setup(especially if you're an Android phone user), meaning you can link all of your media accounts through one login. The physical mic switch is great for those who want to protect their privacy(you KNOW that mic is off when it has a physical switch). If there is one small nitpick that I have, it's that there are some lights that come on when the mic is off, which don't look to great.
However, when it comes to the display itself, I have not been disappointed for a second(I could even live with only playing my PS5 at 60hz when the ghosting issue was present). The colors pop like other Quantum TVs twice the price meaning my games and movies look sharp and vibrant. Playing Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart in 120hz mode was something special, as was watching an episode of Loki on Disney+.
If you're looking for a price-to-performance behemoth, this is it. I don't think anything on the market right now will outperform the newest Hisense line.

Good bang for the buck hurt by baffling buttons

I purchased this TV mainly for gaming so I don’t use the Channel “input” which is essentially the Android TV interface for all of the streaming apps you have setup. Look to other reviews if you want Information on that part. I’ve actually disabled as much of that as I could but more on that later.
Overall the picture quality, brightness and colors are quite good. It is a VA panel so the further from center you sit the more the picture does washout. However, at distance of about 8 feet, sitting at either end of the couch they image is still really good. The HDR quality is fantastic. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not OLED quality. But the HDR hits way above its price class. Gaming with it is wonderful. The other big thing about the TV is that is supports variable refresh rates. I have an Xbox Series X hooked up and it works great. One word of note, do not enable the FreeSync setting, at least with the Xbox. For some reason if both VRR and FreeSync are enabled on the TV the backlight flickers noticeably in some games. On other gaming plus is that it auto-switches to low latency when games start.
Now for some of the bad parts. The only two physical buttons on the TV seem to be there just to frustrate you.
The TV comes with Google Assistant which means that it has a microphone. I wasn’t going to use the Google parts of the TV so the first thing I did was turn the microphone off. Thankfully that is easily done with a physical slider on the bottom of the TV. However, that also turns on four bright yellow lights. Which stay on. All. The. Time. From what I can tell from some online searching, these are some sort of diagnostic lights that show different colors and patterns when an error is detected. For instance left and center lights are red that indicates a bad power supply. I guess turning off the microphone is an error because everything assumes you want to use it. Which makes adding a button to easily disable it seems like something they only added so they can put it a check list somewhere as “privacy controls” even if using it blinds the user.
I wound up leaving the microphone on, disabled the permissions to the microphone for all apps and didn’t put the TV on the network. If you want to use the streaming apps and don’t want to be listened to all the time, you can go to Settings->Apps->App Permissions->Microphone. Here you can choose which apps can use the microphone. Make sure you look under Show System Apps sub-menu in the Microphone permission list, there are more options there. Unfortunately, there are three apps you can’t disable. Which is, again, something that is just frustrating.
The second oddity is that it’s impossible to turn off the TV without using the remote. There is a power button that will turn the TV on. However, once the TV is on, pushing that same button just brings up a list that contains the available sources along with options to “find the remote” and to “power off”. I don’t know why it shows any of these things because you can’t actually select any of them. Pushing the button again just moves the indicator to the next option in the list. Holding the button starts the “find the remote” option which just makes the remote beep. I think whomever put the “power off” choice in that list hates their customers.
So far it’s been great for gaming and the HDR performance is amazing. Overall it’s a really good TV for the price with a couple of truly baffling interface choices.

When trying to make a decision between this TV and its cheaper alternative from Hisense, I decided to spend a little more and get a TV with more features thinking about long-term use. Looking back after a year of ownership, that was the best decision. This TV gets incredibly bright, so much that its set to night mode more often than not, the colors are great, the responsiveness of the software is great, the high refresh rate is great, and the google integration is the icing on top. The only real downside is the blooming you notice when viewing text or objects in front of a dark background, but it's not really so often that it happens and you learn to live with it.
This TV will no doubt last years to come even as TV's get better and better every year.

This is a great tv I got it for the 120hz vrr to use with my laptop. RTX 3060. It works just fine no issues so far while gaming.
You do need to toggle out of Enhanced HDMI on the TV when using an Nvidia card and not gaming due to sound issues that occurs when watching videos on Chrome or what not. I can't figure out why this is happening when not gaming and watching youtube but vrr gaming is fine. I have played for approximately 30 hours with zero issues with my set up.
Again just remember to turn Enhanced HDMI off when not gaming and using PC.
Also I did need to buy a new HDMI cable I bought the Atrix HDMI that supports 4k @ 120hz
(I have not tested this setup @ 4K I just wanted to go to 2560 x 1440)
I updated my TV and all of my Laptops drivers
My settings
Nvidia control Panel
Resolution 2560 x 1440
Gsync compatible = on
V Sync = on (under manage 3d settings - Global settings) This takes care of any tearing issues.
I was sceptical about turning Vsync on because I was under the impression that would create input lag but it turns out that as long as you maintain higher refresh rates then its fine and also recommended from AMD concerning their Freesync technologies which is similar to VRR. This also keeps your games from running at a higher frame rate than your TV or monitor. Which helps with input lag with VRR
On Tv
Turn on Enhanced HDMI right before launching a game. This changes the the TV's refresh rate to 120hz from 60hz and also turns on VRR.
Do not turn on Freesync in TV settings with an Nvidia Card. Let the TV use its native VRR function when you turn on Enhanced HDMI. (The Freesync option on the TV is for AMD cards) VRR still works while leaving this off. I was confused about this at first. These are 2 seperate things.
You can test VRR easily by hitting the menu button then the back button on the tv remote and it shows the refresh rate in the upper left hand corner. varying quickly while gaming.
When you stop your game be sure to turn Enhanced HDMI off bringing the TV back down to 60HZ. To avoid the audio issues.
With this setup I really cannot tell any difference as far as input lag is concerned than using my laptops built in screen which also has vrr support and has 165Hz refresh rate. So the Tv is very nice for gaming.
The Android operating system is pretty cool. Its Android built into your TV and runs pretty smooth. I haven't done too much with Android yet but I watched ETA's video on it and it runs great.

This Tv was an excellent purchase for people who have recently got a Xbox Series X or PS5. I have the Xbox Series X and this Tv paired with it is absolutely amazing. I upgraded from an Insignia model Tv that was roughly 5 to 7 years old and let me tell you it was a massive improvement. In games that run 120 fps, the refresh rate on this TV is excellent. I see very very little screen tearing (If any at all) and virtually zero ghosting. The 4k resolution looks excellent as always as well. I am very pleased with this Tv. For this price point there is almost nothing to compare to it. The upscaling it very good too, 1080p content, looks very good, even 720p looks well on this Tv. As for Apps and Features, It has all the Apps someone would need for typical streaming services if that is all you plan to do with it. Although I manly use this paired with a console. It also has pretty good sound quality, but I would recommend getting a decent sound bar just to get the absolute most out of your watching experience, but that's not to say the sound is bad, it actually has quite a decent sound system built in, and unless you are very particular about your audio, It will be good for just about anyone. Overall it is an excellent buy. Luckily I won the panel lottery and that is definitely something you have to watch out for when it comes to any Tv. This Tv is perfect for someone who doesn't want to break the bank, but also get the best out of there next generation consoles.

Overall good tv for our bright living room. Viewing angles are narrower than other tvs but doesn't affect our set-up. Doesn't support AirPlay which is disappointing and would have been a deal breaker if there was an appropriate alternative (120mHz, Brightness, Price, HDMI 2.1, etc.)

This TV has great picture and gets brighter and has a faster processor than the U6G i exchanged it for.
However, there are some flaws with this "gaming tv". One is that while gaming (i am using the PS5) there are some really bad ghosting issues and makes the game unplayable to be honest. I have tried playing Final fantasy 7 remastered and Control. Both games there are really noticeable bluish/greenish ghosting which will make you dizzy. Also looking online it is not a panel issue as there are some people who have the same model playing Doom eternal with some really bad ghosting issues.
Another flaw is that when you select an HDMI port and press the home button (to go home screen) and go back to the HDMI port input it will stop working. No picture. You will have to reboot the whole tv to get the signal back again. (Takes about 4-5 minutes to reboot the tv) I have tried this on all HDMI ports 1 through 4 and same thing has happened. Very frustrating. I am not sure if it is just my tv, or more of a wider issue. I wish bestbuy has this on thier floors so i can test it. In the meantime I am waiting for others to get thier hands on it to test it out. I will post a youtube video of this when I get the chance.
I know that hisense is working for a fix on the ghosting issues for the U8g. I am not sure about the u7g. There were ghosting issues with the H9G as well that has yet to be fixed so tract records arent good. So we will see if and when the fix arrives. As far as the HDMI issue I have no idea whats going on maybe its just my tv.
My personal verdict.
I would honestly hold off on this TV if you are purchasing it for gaming as it has the ghosting flaws and the HDMI issue. Not to mention when i nought the TV i got it for $749 and now the price has increased to $829. Wait until there is a software update to fix the issues. I am still on the return window as I am a loyal bestbuy shopper and have elite membership and have 30 days to return so I will wait until the very last day to return to see if there is a fix. If not i will return.
If you do not care about gaming you cpuld potentially get this tv because it has a great picture. But then I am not sure if the HDMI issue is on all panels so i would definitely advise people to wait and see reviews first.
To be fair the u6g was flawless in terms of hdmi and gaming. No ghosting. However it was a 60hz panel it was less bright and also had a slower processor. So there's that.
Also the price increase for up to $100 more is surprising and caught me off guard.

Hello Hisense Customer, Thank you for your interest in the Hisense 55U7G and for taking the time to provide us with feedback. We're so sorry to hear that you've experience these issues with your TV. Yes there is a fix to the Ghosting images, please go to settings>>device preferences>>about>>system update>> move to check for update (DO NOT click on the update button) instead press the arrow pointing up button on the remote four (4) times, the Tcon update message will prompt on the screen, click OK to start the upgrade. This upgrade will take about one (1) minute and is going to be a black screen during the entire process. Please do not unplug or power off the TV during the update process it will automatically restart.

I love this TV the quality is great and the UI is awesome. I don't use the tv speaker so I can't speak on the sound quality. My only real issue is that it drops the wifi sometimes but I'm assuming that's due to my internet provider rather than the hardware itself. Would highly recommend.

I am a TV junky and buy a new TV at least every other year it seems. I have tried Sony, LG, and Samsung and found that Samsung has the best color accurate picture so that has been the brand I have stuck with the most. However, a Samsung that I bought less than a year ago started getting bright spots which I read are internal mirrors falling off. The picture quality was awesome so I decided to live with the bright spots.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I finally got my hands on an Xbox Series X. I then discovered that my new 7 series Samsung didn't have 120 frames at 4K capability or Dolby Vision or Atmos. I figured I would hop on bestbuy and see how much a TV that had all these features went for.
Lesser known brand name TVs have always scared me. I figure you get what you pay for, but my last big name purchase had issues in less than a year so I figured I'd give this Hisense a shot... and I'm glad I did.
First the cons, which is near perfect color accuracy is very hard to accomplish. This will not bother most but it's worth noting. The second is there are a ton of adjustments available and you will have to tweak them alot to get the best picture possible.
While the cons are few, the pros are many. The most pleasent surprise was how FAST this TV is. I didn't realize how slow my Samsungs are as far as navigating to and opening apps. This TV is a rocket ship which is awesome when you flip from video games to streaming apps often like I do.
Second, this TV has EVERY tech feature available. Series X is mind blowing paired with this TV. I play high motion speed games and movies on it often and have haf zero picture quality issues. I have found that 28fps movies will judder without the motion effect on, but this bad boy has so many motion options that you can fix judder without making the Soap Opera Effect.
Lastly, the price. A company not adding on 30% for the fancy name is refreshing. This doesn't look or feel like cheap tech like I feared it would. It's every bit as good of quality as my samsungs and better than my LG.
Highly recommend you give it a try if you play video games and stream a lot of apps!

Out of the box it's clear to see that the review from rtings is pretty spot on. Great brightness and contrast. Viewing angles even better than I thought. Sound isn't great without a soundbar, which is true of pretty much any tv especially at this price range.
What makes it weird is the picture quality in regards to some of the native apps.
Vudu looks faded and greenish. Movies Anywhere won't broadcast in 4k/HDR/Dolby Vision. So out of curiosity I hooked up an older Roku with 4k/HDR capabilities (but no Dolby Vision). I've not compared every single app between the 2, but 4k content on Roku's Vudu app blows away the android vudu app even without Dolby Vision. And the MA app on Roku will play 4k content the Hisense/Android app won't. I don't know if it's a thing with the tv or with the OS. But as I write this, the u7G has been reduced in price to $600. Use that savings to also get a roku and you'll have the best of both worlds, the better picture and the better apps and more accessible OS.

Extremely pleased with my purchase, BEAUTIFUL premium display Hisense U7G offers cutting edge technology & features at a GOOD price point especially compared to other brands with similar specs.. picked this TV in hopes it lives up to the hype that it's "For Gamers" and let me tell you it pairs GREAT with my PS5!! the U7G display hits a sweet spot with contrast, HDR & SDR brightness, FULL-ARRAY local dimming, 2xHDMI 2.1 4k@120Hz ports, VRR, FreeSync, ALLM game mode I haven't noticed ANY distracting issues on my panel like blooming or ghosting‼️ I'm NO EXPERT so if it is there it's VERY MINIMAL.. Movies & TV shows looks pretty good too with IMAX, Dolby Vision, HDR10.. even the settings menu for picture & sound controls are extensive and changes can be set to specific input sources if you don't want it to change everything the remote is backlit, lightweight but solid ..I'm not sure why BB says this tv has "direct lit panel" but it is a FULL-ARRAY Display as stated everywhere else.. I haven't tried the tv speakers because I have an Yamaha Sound bar connected to the eARC port....loving this TV‼️

The tv is pretty good. Beautiful graphics and an all around great gaming tv. My only issue is that I still have issues regarding the tv sometimes turning off on its own or not being able open apps with the tv returning to the Home Screen. Average tv. Fix those issues and it’s even better.
