I’ve quite a few 4K televisions over the years, the quality has gone up and the price has gone down. At some point over the , the proliferation of low price 4K televisions has grown exponentially. I’ve avoided all the low tier 4k televisions, they tended to offer a lot but at the expense of poor smart features, sub par picture and questionable long term durability. This is not the case now , today's low priced 4K smart TV's approach or exceed the mid to the high end TV’s of a couple years ago. The Hisense H9F Series is the perfect example of this. In review : Build - The TV is very minimalist with a thin bezel and thin profile form the side. The stand is very stable and gives the TV a nice, high quality look. The all plastic back of the TV is cheap feeling plastic with no cable management. For minimal cost, Hisense could use a stronger plastic and put some basic cable a management. Controls – First, a minor annoyance. There is no external power button or control – everything is through the remote. The remote works well and is thoughtfully laid out with quick access to Netflix, Youtube, Google Play Store and Vudu ( not sure who really uses Vudu anymore.) Like nearly other remote, it is not backlight and I find myself fumbling in the dark. There is button for directly accessing Google Assistant and it works quite well. Press the button and speak a command and the TV does it job. Apps, Smart Features and OS system : As I mentioned above, the Google Assistant is built in. There is a good reason for, the whole TV is based on the Android TV platform. Android TV is a pleasure; it is satisfying to have access to the easy and familiar Google play store. All the appropriate apps are there. Set up is the best I’ve ever experienced, it interfaces to your mobile devices and pulls in all the appropriate info. Also, Chrome Cast is built in for easy casting from other devices. There are some slight deficiencies here. There is some latency in navigating between the apps and I did notice some slight hangs within apps. Nothing major but you will notice a difference from the high end TV’s with better processors. Additionally, sometimes right in the middle of using an app , the system goes to back to the home screen for all the apps. At first, I thought I hit the home button, but it did happen several times as I was looking through an app. It happened on Youtube, Hulu and Netfilx. Sound – At first, is not that good. It is relatively muddy across the spectrum. With a little tweaking in the settings, you can get noticeably better sound. I found setting it to “Theater “ for the Sound mode and turning on the “Total Sonics “ option dramatically improved the sound. You can change it further through the advanced setting. For the life of me, I do not why Hisense has everything set to “standard “ for the sound. While the sound is better with tweaking, you are limited by the relatively weak speakers so a soundbar is a must for those that want rich, deep sounds. The picture: Overall, the picture is impressive. I ran several formal tests for the Dolby Vision and HDR, they did look stunning. In 4k from Youtube, Netflix and Amazon, it all looked quite good but did have some blooming of bright objects on black or dark backgrounds. For me, I found it more noticeable on smaller objects bt maybe this is because I have the picture settings on vivid. When compared to other TV’s in this price range or even higher, it comes out on top. When compared to high end OLED televisions, you will definitely see the difference. For standard pictures ( as in from the cable box) the Hisense H9F was about average with some colors getting muddy or washed out in brighter sections of the screen. I did see some color uniformity issues on content that had a lot of white or grey. In fact, when you first start the TV up, there is a grey screen and you can see the uniformity inconsistencies in the picture. I can say the picture is amazingly bright, brighter than anything in this class. In a normal room, you do not need anything close to max brightness. Now I do not want to give the impression the picture is bad. I was able to make some changes that improved the picture quality. The picture overall for any television is good , for a $900 television – you will not find any better. Even for a couple hundred dollars more. Odd mentions: TV does turn off with Google Home commands but does not turn on. TV is hot and what I mean by that is it is literally a hot TV. All TV’s produce heat but it felt noticeably hotter than my 55 inch Samsung 4k and even more than my 77 inch OLED (in spots.) Conclusion: I put this TV up against my 6 year old 9000 series 4K Samsung and a LG C9 77 inch. It held it’s own in terms of picture quality against the 6 year old Samsung, it was about the same but with a little less uniformity but a with a brighter picture. Keep in mind that the Samsung I have was about $3500 at the time. The Android TV and apps was far superior to the old Samsung . Now, compared to the LG C9, there is no comparison. And there should not be the C9 is a $7000 television and an OLED. There are a few reviews here that state the Hisense H9F is “better than OLED.” I assure you it is not. However, this is best TV value you can get with great picture and an even better feature set. Recommend for those on a budget and those who are spending under $1500.

    Great TV for The Price

I am pleasantly surprised by my experience so far with the Hisense 65 H9F Series TV. I have generally been one to shy away from cost effective brands and gone for the higher end Sony or Samsung tv's, but I can honestly say that this tv stands up to my Samsung QLED and at a fraction of the price. The TV itself was easy to setup. I especially liked the plastic handled bag they put the tv in. It can always be tricky getting a bigger tv out of a box, but this made the process easy and smooth. The TV is Android based so you can setup everything in a few seconds through your Android phone. The Google Assistant account on the tv and the remote is a nice touch. I can control the lights in my home, my roomba, and the music, and search for anything on the tv with my voice all with my tv remote now which is pretty fancy. The only drawback in my opinion to an android based tv is they limit certain apps on the TV itself. I have Direct TV Now and I'm not able to actually download the AT&T app on my tv, I have to use a Roku in order to get it to work. Not a big deal, but would be more convenient if they just allowed all the different network apps like Amazon Prime, At&T and Xfinity etc. The software on the tv is slightly buggy, it does crash every once in a while during browsing, but that can probably be fixed in future firmware updates. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the tv has 4gb of internal storage which is way more than most people will need. The picture itself is crisp and clear and the settings out the box really aren't bad. I settled on Standard tv because the skin tones look the best imo. I usually always check rtings.com/tv for the tv I own and they always have settings for the tv model you have that are calibrated to better colors. The sound on the tv is especially well done and I was impressed by how loud the tv got during a netflix viewing. The thing that impresses me most about this tv is theres a ton of inputs. 4 Hdmi and old school component along with USB 2.0 and 3.0 jacks. For a sub 1000 dollar tv you really can't go wrong here. The Hisense offers incredible value imo compared to other brands. I am happy with this tv as I was with the 2500+ dollar QLED I bought last year and thats saying something. I would definitely recommend this tv to anyone who's looking for an affordable and beautiful sub 1000 dollar TV.

DO NOT BUY this TV if you intend to use ARC sound

While the television picture is excellent, the ARC sound feature is completely incompatible with any soundbar or sound system. I purchased several of the latest systems (Sony, Samsung, Bose). On technical measures, they should be compatible (4k, HDCP 2.2, HDR, CEC). Yet none of them work. I have spoken with customer service several times and am told that everything I try is incompatible. I even requested a list of compatible sound systems. They have been unable to provide one because no compatible systems exist. If you research a bit online, you will find this is a well documented problem. One that could likely be addressed with a software update. Yet Hisense refuses to do so. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this TV.

This tv looks really nice. 480 looks good, 720 - 1080 very nice and 4k is WOW! My only complaint is no Amazon Prime Video app. Many others report getting an update on this tv that installs Prime Video. My tv updated right after turned on but no Amazon. About once a week I check for update but no go.

I’m not an expert or a techie. I bought a Hisense TV 4 years ago & have been pleased. For a TV in this category it is a little high priced because it has been in high demand. It is one of the few lower end 65” TVs that has a center stand. The stand is very sturdy and you can put it on a tv stand that is smaller than the actual 60” width of the tv as long as it can support the weight. It has good ratings on ratings.com. I don’t have any issues with the sound but I’m not that particular. I’m not an avid sports fan so the few sports I watch looks fine for my needs. The GLARING NEGATIVE is the LACK of Amazon Prime Video App. Some people have stated that it’s available in the Google store to download. Well it’s NOT available as of the date of this review. And yes, I check for updates for the TV often & it’s still not there. There is supposedly a workaround by downloading a file to a USB drive and then download it to the TV. I do not know how to do this. The app should just be there. Google & Amazon supposedly have made friends again but still no app. I called Hisense and was told they are working on it. They also said that they do not recommend using the USB method but of course they would. This is rather strange because my 4 year old 50” Hisense HAS the app as well as a DEDICATED button on the remote. Yes, you can change inputs and use another device that has the Amazon app or mirror from a mobile device but that is really inconvenient. This is not why you buy a smart tv. Amazon Prime Video is not an obscure app. The other unpleasant aspect of this TV is the glut of Google Apps that cannot be removed.

    Beautiful Color and Contrast

The color seems so much more vivid on this compared to our previous set, and that is probably due in part to the Quantum Dot "wide color gamut". I'm noticing more on video when people wear colorful outfits on television where before it seemed more neutral. The default factory out of box settings provide a very good picture without having to tinker, which is more than I can say for our last Samsung. The sound quality is very good too. Again, I don't normally pay that much attention to sound quality on a TV, but it is more pleasant sounding, even without an external speaker connected at this time. Android TV with the included voice remote will mean I need two less HDMI ports because I will not need a 'smart' streaming stick or a Chromecast. It's all built in. The four HDMI ports will allow expansion a lot easier than our previous living room TV which only had half as many ports and had needed an HDMI switch (port extender, separate remote). To start with, we'll have a cable box, a gaming console, and a disc (Blu-Ray) player, which will leave one port for future use. The location of the ports, if you need to know, are on the left side in the rear (the power input is on the right side). Bluetooth support is a nice benefit of this set, and will allow wireless connections to things like external speakers and headphones (maybe keyboard for some apps too). Support for both Wired and Wireless networking is important, I am set up to run the network either way - I have an available ethernet wire which I can connect, but may leave it disconnected to minimize clutter. The stand installed easily, just two screws on the bottom (not back) of the TV for each of the two feet. It may be safer to mount it on the wall, but the configuration of our living room layout prevents it for us (the wall is not straight). Oh, on power up, you use the google app on your phone to link your accounts (on android, anyway). It's easy and it walked me through everything.

The first thing that struck me when I unboxed the 65” Hisense H9F tv is how good and sleek it looks compared to the price. Hisense in not a very familiar name for me, and frankly this is the first product of this brand I’ve used so far, and as such I was skeptical about it. However, the build quality looked sturdy, the panel looked perfectly assembled, and the two bottom legs looked quite cool. I was a bit worried about how the two small legs would handle a TV of this size - but I’m happy to report they hold up to their task really well. Next comes the setup, which is quite a breeze. It comes with Android TV OS, so there’s a lot of native apps to choose from. The only thing is you’ve got to sign-in to your Google account if you want to use it properly. Other than those first-time sing-in prompts, everything else is straightforward. I don’t have a cable connection, instead mostly use Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc. for my entertainment needs - and the Android TV is perfect for that. Now comes the picture quality. Now I’m upgrading from a 1080p 120 Hz Samsung 40”, so for me, the improvement in quality is immense. The increase is the screen size was needed since otherwise a 4k V would’ve been an overkill in my opinion. The size is perfect for the living room that I have. My previous Samsung had the regular array backlight, but the Hisense offers “132” local dimming zones which make the background lighting very uniform. The blacks are really black, and in scenes with high contrast you can appreciate the local dimming feature most. I, however, felt that sometimes, with fast changes, there was some lag in the dimming feature. Also, you can show it’s shortcomings when there are small but brightly lit objects on the scene. Overall, however, the images look quite well. There are 4 HDMI inputs, and even though I found out it probably has a 120 Hz panel, the input is limited to only 60 Hz options, which is a disappointment. There are also the USB and Digital Audio ports which are fairly standard in all TVs nowadays. The TV is unsurprisingly can be connected to the WiFi (it supports 802.11ac) or the ethernet cable. The TV remote is feature-rich without being too complicated. It has voice assistant feature (Google Assistant) and dedicated app buttons which makes opening them a cinch. The H9F, however, is not completely a flawless product. The sound quality is unimpressive, but that’s not a surprise since there are only two bottom firing speakers like most of the TVs nowadays. For better audio, and soundbar or some home theater setup is a must. The other thing that I’ve noticed is the viewing angle is not the widest of the lot. A view from an angle usually results in the black being a bit washed out. However, from my particular sitting arrangement, it’s hardly an issue. All in all, from the value perspective, the Hisense H9F 4k UHD TV is an absolute steal. The image is staggering compared to some other brands that demand double the money, and even though it has some drawbacks, the overall package is very well. If you want a decent 4k 65” TV without breaking the bank, I highly recommend to check it out.

    Amazing 4K Smart TV!

This has been my first experience with the Hisense brand and I must say that I am extremely impressed with this Hisense 65" LED H9F Series 2160p Smart 4K UHD TV with HDR and I am surprised it doesn’t cost way more than it is actually listed for. This TV replaced a 1080P LCD HDTV I had been using and I was immediately blown away by the improvement in quality as soon as I turned this one on. I wasn’t expecting to notice as much of a difference as I did and this still comes to my attention every time to this day. The color quality and smoothness of motion are amazing and it feels like what is being displayed is actually happening right there in the room with me. Watching TV is such a different and much better experience now. As if all that wasn’t enough, setting up this TV couldn’t have been easier although you will need two people because it is big! After installing the base with the included screws and plugging in the power, the rest of the setup process was a breeze and accomplished with the help of my Android-based phone. The only slight issue I ran into was when my phone was first searching for the TV via Bluetooth during the setup process. At first, I was sitting all the way back on my couch approximately 12 feet from the TV. The TV was not showing up in the list of devices available to add so I tried moving closer and restarting the search. Once I moved closer, the TV immediately showed up and I was able to proceed through the setup process without any other issues. I must have been too far away at first so I suggest you stay within 10 feet of your TV during this part of the setup process. After that, you can use your phone to control the TV and this works fine even when I am sitting all the way back on my couch. The TV comes with a wide selection of apps available via the Google Play Store. Since I had signed in to my Google account during the setup process, I noticed that many of the apps I have downloaded on my phone were available and suggested on the TV. Adding apps is very easy and straightforward but the only thing I haven’t been able to figure out is how to remove apps from the “Favorite Apps” list at the top of the on-screen menu. I’m able to add apps to this row but I’m not sure how to remove some of the apps that were already in this row by default. There wasn’t any information on this in the limited setup guide that comes with the TV and I wasn’t able to find anything in the complete manual online either but it’s not really a big deal and I’m sure I’ll figure it out eventually. Overall, this is an incredible TV that is well worth its price and I highly recommend it!

This Hisense 65 inch LED 4K Smart TV is a really good buy for what it brings to your room. From a picture perspective, the colors are crisp and clean with various settings to choose from that will help customize it for your preferred viewing. Settings like, day movie, night, game, etc. change it just enough to help make it feel like it’s not in the showroom. The sound on this television from its built in speakers was surprisingly good. I turned on “user mode” for the sound mode setting and I was shocked at how well the sound filled the room in front and behind me without having true surround sound going. If you prefer not to customize the sound yourself, there are once again various presets to choose from including sports, theater, concert hall, music, etc. As a SmartTV, it is configured very good from the start. There are several of the standard apps available to download right away or, already installed. Just some examples, GooglePlay Music and Store, Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, etc. I setup the wifi immediately and the apps I wanted were either updated or downloaded quickly and I was up and running with them right away. You can set the TV up using your android phone or tablet or choose to go through the steps manually using the television’s remote that has all the necessary options in good spots on it. Netflix, YouTube, GooglePlay and VUDU buttons are all dedicated buttons on it so you can go directly to them when you want. Lastly, there are plenty of ports on the set with 4 HDMI’s, a set of composite, digital audio out for surround sound or headphones, a LAN connection to hardwire your network connection and two USB ports so you can look at pictures, your own movies. I think this is a really good television with plenty of options. Great for a family room or basement at 65 inches it will not disappoint.

Went from a 7 year old 48" LG 3D TV that we loved. Just moved it to a smaller room. Hard to change from the LG brand. I was looking for another LG but open to other brand options as a lot has changed in 7 years. This 65" Hisense flagship model TV is beyond stunning! And at a lesser price I paid for my LG back in 2012. If your lucky enough to find one, simply buy it! Don't wait, don't hesitate! It is a viewing stunning gem at home! The brightness, the deep black and vivid colors are spectacular! The 65" could not fit and fill our family room any better. With our sound bar and sub it's like being at the movies without the sticky floors. I don't know how it can be priced in this range having a picture equal or better than anything LG, Samsung, Vizio or Sony offers, as it's an argument even against their flagship models. We are so happy with this purchase! Of course it's a brand new item, any long term quality issues come up, I'll update.

Hisense H9F 65" TV is an amazing TV - especially for the value. Quantum dot. Crystal clear, bright picture. Finally a TV where I can see something clearly in darker scenes. The setup was relatively easy. Let me say this is a humongous TV! 65" is a lot of real estate (and it's VERY heavy) and it is replacing a 45" Samsung...wow, HUGE difference. When I got the 45" over 5 years ago, it was very large to me and I thought it had a great picture. Now the size of this Hisense will take a little getting used to but the picture pops! No comparison. I love that there are 4 HDMI slots. That's hard to find but adds so much versatility to the TV. I can hook up everything so easily. The Blu Ray, my Tivo, a sound bar - all HDMI. I don't care that it doesn't have RGB input, but some might. The built in speakers are adequate for an apartment, but I hooked it up to a sound bar so I could feel the sound - some movies just need that. I don't always use it... Mostly when watching a video, not necessary with the Food Network ; ) If you live in a larger place I would definitely recommend at least a sound bar with this. All in all, it's a huge, beautiful TV that I hope to enjoy for years. I would absolutely recommend this TV. I was concerned because I wasn't familiar with this brand name - it's not Samsung, Sony or LG... But I'm sold on this TV.

I would recommend this to a friend
