I wasn’t sure how much use I would get out of this little guy because I always have Siri in my pocket and on my wrist. I have been pleasantly surprised with how useful it is and how much we end up using it. The sound quality is great in our kitchen. My kids even love using it.

Better then expected. Answers questions asked. Great for my calender events. Songs that you want to hear. Also set up the shopping app. Anything you want to research just ask. Directions, travel time etc just ask. If thinking on getting a google home, I highly recommen.

We currently have two of these set up in our home, and they're a great tool for home automation by voice. I use Google Home primarily to control lights and the thermostats, but I could imagine the uses are infinite with the smart home equipment we plan to add in the future.

My kid loves it since it plays the songs he wants, tells bed-time stories. I like the way it tells you the weather followed-by current news from NPR and Fox News when you just say: "Hey Google! Good Morning!". We are still trying to figure out the maximum use of it like home control

    Better than the Echo

The Google Home is a pretty handy home assistant. The A.I. and sound of the speaker is way better than the Echo which I have as well. When connected to other things like a Chromecast, Sonos speaker, or Philips Hue it becomes a command center. Tell it what to do, and watch it happen.

Was hesitant to get this Google Home device as it seemed too niche and unnecessary...while that might still be true, we absolutely love it! Simple to set up and we're finding new ways to integrate into our daily routine each day and it's exciting. Well played, Google!

    Smarter than Alexa, but......

I bought an Echo and Google Home on the 2017 Amazon Prime sale. Both were extremely easy to install on my home network. The Google product (at this time) can answer far more questions presented than Alexa can. Both say they are "learning" so time will tell who can provide the most relevant information when asked. Both can control home automation devices (I bought TP-LINK and Philips Hue) and are easy to setup. However, the Google Home device still has some setup kinks on both TP-Link switches and Philips Hue lights. Hope to get this working later on. Echo device worked flawlessly first time and so I use it for house automation for now.

    Great voice assistant, decent speaker

It's wonderful to have Google Assistant in the room, even when my phone is at the other end of the house. However, that convenience does not justify the cost of this product, since a Google Home Mini can serve the same purpose. I was hoping the added cost would buy me a solid speaker so my music could follow me around the house as well. Sadly, the sound quality on the Google Home does not meet my standards. Surprisingly, for such a small speaker the bass is overpowering, with a veiled character that makes it rather unpleasant for music (to my ears) and downright disruptive when listening to spoken word. I decided to spend a little more to get the Sony S50G, which still has Google Assistant, but also features audio that I find much more pleasing.

Goggle Home is good for many reason. Some basic questions asked to it, it will give good answers such as weather, recipes, etc. Many intricate questions get a response of "I am still learning" Plays music well, great for a quick question or look up instead of opening a browser.

I used to have an Amazon Echo, but I switched to Google Home due to the fact that I can speak to it more naturally. Calling the Echo "Alexa" does seem more personable than saying "Ok Google/Hey Google" but I'm sure there might be a way to change that in the future.

Google Assistant in general is very useful: lists, news, shopping, search, alarms, etc. Voice commands feature is good, but still being fine tuned as wording has to be exact or the assistant won't do what you want. Ability to sync multiple Home devices is very useful, can have whole home sound without volume being too loud in any one room. The full size Home is a great standalone speaker. While not a Sonos product, it isn't priced like one either. It is incredibly easy to cast music to, and the sound is very good for a relatively small foot print that can be placed in a corner or on a shelf.

I love it! It’s very easy to set up. I have it connected to Philips Hue Lights. It’s another expense but it works awesome!!!! It turns it on/off and it dims the lights. I also have it connected to chromecast and it also works awesome. The intelligent speech recognition is awesome and the sound quality is also great for small rooms. I was very impressed by the number and variety of commands it understands. Just for the music alone it's worth it and it has access to so much information. The only downside is that in order to get the most out of it you still have to spend more money and wait for future updates.

I Tried the other one and the 1st question I asked I did not get an answer. With the Google Home I get an answer to all my questions and it knows what my day will be like from my calendar and plays all my music so easily. Would like to have one in every room.

Hand-free, voice-controlled devices are easily accomplished using this remarkable gadget. I am requiring all my new home purchases compatible with it. It is super fun, entertaining and with excellent sound quality. The voice recognition is impressively good too.

Fairly Useful Assistant For Elderly Mom

I ended up getting two Google Home devices, primarily to make things easier for my elderly Mom in her two story home. I helped her set it up and she has grown into it. She won't want to use it as much as other heavy users might, as she doesn't listen to much music nor wish to smarten up her home. But for what I was looking for there are a couple of quirks, one of which was unexpected. First of all I entered her contacts and had her do the voice training thing. And that works for her. And I, myself, can even ask the Google Home questions, find weather and traffic insights, set alarms, and the like. But because the contacts are associated with my Mom's voice I can't make phone calls with it, or ask it to set reminders. I assume I could add my account information and train it to recognize my voice, but i don't have all the same phone numbers (like police) that I might need to use when I'm visiting my out of town Mom. If I can ask it questions ("when's the game"), you would think I would also be allowed to make calls through numbers associated with the device. Second, it is not possible to call 911. I assume since it's VOIP calling, no address is provided so the dispatch folks at 911 won't accept it. But it doesn't make sense. We've added her home address when setting up the system so that Google Home knows precisely where she is, and can provide precise mileage and "nearby" tidbits instantaneously. So why can't that location information associated with the Google Home be provided to the 911 operator? This would be a really important feature, especially since the Google Home microphones and speakers are excellent, picking up and projecting voices from long distances away -- and, thereby, a potentially critical emergency "assistant" for folks of all ages. Finally, I was disappointed with the so-called intercom feature. The Google Home does NOT have an intercom. We can communicate from different devices on different floors, but one cannot talk. The "intercom" is actually called Broadcast -- whereby one says "Ok Google, Broadcast" and when prompted one records a message. That message is then played on the other Google Home. If the recipient of that message wishes to reply, they will in turn have to say "OK Google, Broadcast," wait for the prompt and then record their response, which in several seconds is played on the other Google Home. I had expected an open channel between devices, whereby an actual conversation could be exchanged. Instead, it's like a WW II movie with walkie talkies, and I'm tempted to repeatedly say "over." All in all, the Google Home is a nice addition, which fits well in the Google/Android/ChromeOS worlds. But the main features I was seeking fall short. If you aren't looking for these same features yourself, i'm sure you'll be happy getting several Google Home assistants.

I fired Alexa, not because she was a bad product, I just wanted something better. While Alexa has a ton of Apps and integrates in pretty well with some stuff, I found that getting her to work with home automation was very cumbersome. Google Home for the products that it supports is seamless. I have Philips Hue lights and a few other SmartThings and it was quick and painless to get them all working from voice commands. The voice recognition of the Google Home is better than Alexa and give much more information. I am happy with the product now and am looking forward to new innovations that Google is brining down the line.

This is an amazing device. It packs good sound for its size. I have been using it to set quick reminders, kitchen timers, play music, relaxing sound, play games and even tell a story while I doze off. I am excited to use it with smart things around house hold.
