I just bought a Google home for my husband as a holiday gift. We connected it last night. And he just loved it. We paired it with my smart Samsung TV and my Philips hue lights. It's so amazing that I can control any smart device in my house with Google home.

This is an amazing item. I am learning something new everyday on how it will perform for you. Keeps my shopping list and then sends it to the app on my phone. No more written lists that I forget at home . Plays the music you request to hear and so much more.

We had bought the Amazon Echo unit back when they were on some great sale through Amazon and I liked it alot, but my wife didn't. We decided to try the Google Home unit and we both like it, however I think the Echo had better sound quality from the speaker.

Google is it! It speaks multiple languages and has a sense of humor. The grandchildren love it, Google is ready for a break when they leave. We use it with the Phillips Hue smart lights and it's a pretty good speaker when listening to music. Works perfect.

If you are deciding between the Google Home and the Echo consider what you will be using them for and how willing you are to set up linked apps. The Echo performs extremely well with regards to news updates, mood music, and generic commands - whereas the Google Home is more mercurial, but has a higher potential for full smart home useage. Currently, I have the Echo in the bedroom (better for weather, news, daily info) and the Google Home in the living room to connect with my chromecast. I've found the Google Home is better than the Echo for music, but only if you are willing to pay for YouTube Red.

I already own several Amazon Alexa units and wanted to buy this as a gift for a family member. They are happy with it and I now want to get one for myself. Setup was easy and it seems to be better than Alexa at data or finding information on the internet

Having used both Google Home and Amazon's Echo I can unequivocally say that Google Home is the superior product. The ability to answer random questions (how long should I cook a soft boiled egg) is simply better on the Home. Alexa was frequently unable to help with various inquiries. Both systems can integrate nicely with smart home control using IFTTT but, again, the Home has better native integration with Nest and SmartThings products out of the gate. The speaker is surprisingly powerful and the ability to use my voice to pull up videos on a chromecast connected tv has been a constant source of amusement and education.

It' easy to power-up and connect to the internet. Syncing of compatible devices with the app is easy. I use it along with my Philips Hue, and it works great.
Pros:
- Better Search
- Good Price
Cons:
- Sound could be better
- No Amazon Prime integration :-(

Just purchased a somewhat older house and wanted to get it more modern. Figured the smart technology would help. I'm addicted to this thing now and it's a great helper. Speakers are loud and solid. Commands are understood fairly easy. Unlimited options

Fun AI assistant to have in the living room. Unlimited possibilities tied in with the Google search engine. Good sound quality, especially bass coming out a relatively small speaker. Particularly like the top touch functions, such as volume, mute, etc.

The Google home is a super neat smart home device. My only issue with it is that everything it does, my phone can do. My phone can actually control more things on my TV than the Google home. They need to provide some more updates and then it will be worth 5 stars.

Good product so far. I’ve asked several different questions and she responds well. Main downside is that you have to speak loud and clear for it to pick up your voice. Good partner with Chromecast to turn on/off the tv and also play to play any shows on your tv.

I am still learning what it can do. I can ask it for recipes. It sets a timer for me. Tells me what time the Patriots are going to be on and plays music for me when I ask it. I probably would give it 5 stars if learning what it could do was a little bit easier.

This assistant is useful for weather, playing music, and reading news. It is less useful for making phone calls. It is really hard to set up to make calls, takes a couple of hours if you are savvy, minimum. Speakers have good sound. Overall, sorta cool device.

So I've had my Google Home for 3 months now and I'm still loving it. Mostly I use it for playing music and making quick queries. In the time I've had it the service has improved noticeably. When I first got it, Google Home seemed unable to stream any radio station that was owned by CBS. But this is no longer the case and I am able to stream any commercial radio station just fine through the TuneIn service. I am also a existing Google Play Music subscriber, which is one reason I invested in Google Home instead of an Amazon Echo. All of my playlists play flawlessly using a voice command. Also, discovering new music is easy by asking Google to play music of a particular genre or artist. The speaker sounds warm and full, although I have heard better sounding speakers at a higher price point. One thing to keep in mind though: the higher you place your Google Home, the better it will sound. I don't know why, but when it just sounds warmer on top of the cabinet in my bedroom than it does on a short table.
I have a Chromecast Audio connected to Bose speakers in my kitchen and have linked it with my Google Home using the app on my phone. Simply adding "in all rooms" to any request to play music starts the songs playing in both places in perfect sync, no lag in one room versus the other. I can also control the Chromecast audio by itself by speaking to the Google Home. So for example, if I'm leaving the bedroom and want to play music in the kitchen because I'm heading that way, I can request it before leaving the bedroom.
I also use it to set alarms and timers. The alarm tone is soft and won't jar you out of your sleep.
Google searches are very handy for basic information and updates of things like weather and sports scores, but limited for anything requiring visual aids.
One sore spot that's currently missing from Google Home is the ability to manage your calendar. Google Home can tell you what's on your calendar upon request, but if you ask it to create a calendar appointment or change an appointment, Google Home cannot currently do that. It also can't alert you to incoming email or even read messages back to you. I'm sure this functionality is coming, but for now it's not there yet.
Finally, I don't have a Netflix account, so I haven't been able to test controlling Netflix with voice commands through Google Home, but I have successfully and easily played YouTube video content on my TV through Chromecast with a voice command to Google Home. One drawback though: If you decide to try out some of the YouTube Red original series, you can't request Google Home play a particular episode from one of the series. You can only ask it to play the series and hope it remembers where you left off. I hope they fix this.
So overall I give Google Home 4 stars in the hope that future software and service updates plug some of the holes.

I was a little apprehensive about this device at first, but it really does listen to commands and has great sound for its size. Some claim that it doesn't sound as good as Alexa, but you can adjust the volume settings... so I bet it can get close.

Had an Amazon Echo for a year and made the switch to the Google Home. We like it better. Music sounds better and it's just way smarter. Got frustrated with the Echo not being able to answer questions. Not a problem with Google's Assistant powering the Home.
