Did a lot of research before buying this. I don;t do anything special with it, no gaming, or high-tech working or producing. The battery life is non-existent. Literally, it discharges at nearly 1% per minute. I have never even made it 2 hours without having to plug it in and that is with simple email surfing and even some "sleep" time. The keyboard is not comfortable or user friendly from an ergonomic standpoint at all and the power cord is shaped like an "L" instead of a simple straight insert. This makes it awkward to use, it gets in the way of the your work surface, and is easily pulled loose without you realizing it (that is NOT why the battery is dropping). There is also no light on the cord/box to indicate that it is plugged in/running on AC which I had on my Dell and which was very convenient. No light on computer at all to tell you if it is even turned on. You have to go to it and mess with the mouse to find out. Still thinking about returning it just based on poor battery life alone. Feeling a little "ripped off"... Otherwise, it is a basic laptop - not super speedy - and it works, which is all I really needed. Could have gotten that for less money though.

Needed a laptop to support testing browser for grad school. I already have a Mac and was told by a professor I wasn’t allowed to test on my Mac and that I needed a pc. This computer is not my favorite. It feels cheap, because it was only $400 I guess. It has a Stone Age feel to it as you browse the Internet or use any of the programs. Not my favorite.

I never had any problems with this manufacturer before so I purchased another product which I had this one only for 2 months and the hard was defective. I was told this rarely happens. Well.. I received the rarely coincidence.

This laptop is fine -- nice bright, clear graphics and all. However, I don't understand how it could have been allowed out of the factory, if anyone at HP had actually tried to use it. The area all around the touchpad has weird striations that are extremely irritating to the hands. In addition, the seam all around the keyboard is raised and sharp. I had to buy pads to use for typing, or the palms and wrists of both hands would be a mess. I never had this problem with any other laptop. Who designed this thing?

My only complaint about this product is battery life. Outside of that, this computer is sturdy and the large amount of storage space makes it easy to download and work. I would recommend the computer to a friend but I would warn them about the battery life.

Good laptop as long as you don't mind plugging it in constantly to charge it. Works for my wife being that she uses it only at home for work.

Snagged a pretty good deal on this HP laptop. My wife needed a new laptop for work ASAP and this was on sale and in our budget, so we grabbed it, although wanted the comparable Dell, the store was sold out. She already had an HP so we decided on that. With the 6GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive, we expected it to be lightning fast, however, that was a disappointment. In fact, it seems to download and stream slower than her previous laptop that has nowhere near those qualifications. So for us, it does what it needs to, but nothing more, and nothing remotely impressive.

Disappointed in how fast the battery discharges. After one hour use, have to plug in to charge. Seems extreme.

I use to use the old windows xp version. This software seems so confusing. Can't navigate like the XP version. Battery life is very short. I don't like it. Definitely returning this.

I like this computer but would take a I5 over AMD-12 despite the AMD-12 having better rating. Tend to run a little behind. Durable though and I would rate it a buy ! BTW..I brought back 3 Dells before buying this HP. Never buy Dell !

Even with the specs, this laptop start up rather slow. The graphic is average. If you need a laptop to browse the web, doing simple tasks like using Word, Excel, etc., then this is an OK laptop.

This is a nice computer if you are looking for something basic. Plenty of memory and storage space. My displeasure is from the incredibly slow wi-fi speed. However, I have been spoiled by my MacBook which downloads 10x faster than this machine. This is however a tradeoff for the lower price paid.

I wasn't expecting top of the line performance from a budget computer but I'm still disappointed. My 3 year old laptop is faster working on the internet and the touch pad sometimes does not respond when attempting to move the cursor.

like other reviewers have said, it took a long time to perform the required updates and it is generally much slower than expected. It is only being used for basic functions. A little disappointed but price was fair.

I'm not a fan of Windows 10. The start menu failed within 2 weeks and I had to restore from a backup. My favorite is how it just shuts down or restarts randomly.

Love the ten key to the side and worked great to start my small business. Eventually though it slowed down. If you don't save alot of big files I expect it would have been useful longer.

Not sure if the issue is the laptop, the wifi system or both but the shifting between screens appears to be slow. Otherwise for a non-gamming computer it functions well.
