    Great Machine But Tetchy Touchpad

Great overall but touchpad has a mind of its own. At times just touching the pad brings up the right-click drop-down menu. This is my second machine, having returned the first one for precisely the same reason. This is highly annoying as one can be in the middle of doing one thing and end up diverted to something completely unrelated... such as navigating the page code menu. I had to disable swipe from the edge because of all the random action it was generating. Being that I've now experienced this on both machines, I suspect it's a manufacturing defect with this batch of Synaptic touch pads. Aside from that I love the computer, the weight is decent, the all black look and narrower profile makes it look sleeker. The expanded keyboard to include number pad comes in very handy. There is good, if not great sound from the speakers and overall, thus far has proved to be a good computing choice. Great value for the money.

I caught this on sale for $250 because just needed something cheap. It's very light and thin, which is something I needed. My last laptop was 17", thick, and heavy, making me realize I prefer something easy to move. It's mobility makes it great for travel. If the battery lasted much longer it'd be perfect. As it is, it gets about 4 hours if you don't put it through too much off the charger. Handles simple tasks like Microsoft Office and web browsing without a hitch, so good for college students looking to save some money. It's also able to run older/lower end games, though to give you some idea of its limits it just barely struggles with Portal 2 on high detail, so I won't be installing any intensive games on here (but I have a gaming desktop for that sort of thing anyway, so I don't mind at all). TL;DR - For $250, you really can't get a better laptop.

I was skeptical about Windows 8.1 but I actually like it. Laptop is good speed and a lot of memory for the price! I use for both personal and work at home as well as connecting at work. Battery life is only OK.

I purchased two of these laptops, one for myself and one for a gift. Both have been great. Out of the box you shouldn't have any issues, it is a tad slow, but any laptop with a 5400rpm drive is this way, that is why in both laptops I upgraded them to SSD drives, now they fly! Reasoning for 4 stars instead of 5: 1. HDD - HP Could put a smaller hard drive into the laptop and utilize 7200rpm, this would increase speed a lot, or even put a small SSD into it, no one would complain at all... 2. Battery - There are two model numbers of batteries listed on the product information page, but I cannot seem to find the larger of the two, and the battery life though lasting a couple hours, falls completely short of the estimated time.

HP AMD A8 Processor 4 Mem 750 HD

I was happy to find a computer that would give up a little unneeded space on the hard drive, in my opinion 750 is enough for daily use, and give an AMD A8 processor with a standard laptop. This will work great for browser gaming, and streaming with no problem. 300 is a good price point for this computer.

Read all the reviews before I bought this. And yes, it's ok for a house pic and the price was right. Came loaded up with software and Webroot subscription for one year. Of course I will renew it then. I wanted a cd drive which feels a little flimsy so make sure you open the drive on a flat surface. For what I needed, this is good. I got this mostly for pics and music and does the deal for me.

I have had this computer for a little over a month and for the price of the computer its a good computer. If you're looking at getting a computer for a few games than I wouldn't get it but it's a good everyday surfing the net computer or things of that nature.

I was a little bit hesitant to spend on such a cheap laptop but I am glad I did. I've had it for about a month now and have yet to have a problem with it. It has upgrade able memory so I will be adding another 4GB when I get the chance but even without that I have yet to run into an issue. My only complaint is I do not like the touch pad at all. I invested in a decent wireless mouth and have been very happy with that.

Powerful and reasonably well built for the price. There are other HP Pavilion 15 laptops at Best Buy worth considering though, especially when Best Buy has deal-of-the-day discounts on them.

This $300 laptop still packs in a quad-core processor, and for an AMD it runs much cooler than I expected. While I would not recommend using it to play graphics-intensive games, otherwise this has been a solid performer.
