I used to have this as work laptop in my office. When I returned to college for pursuing graduate degree, this laptop was my first choice. To my shock it wasn't available as new but was available as refurbished. Reviews looked promising, so I went ahead and took the plunge knowing I could always return it. But boy I was correct. Laptop looked brand new. Joy Systems did good job in configuring the OS removing any bloatware that tend to slow the system down. Only grouse is that the charger isn't original, but hey I can't complain when I got this for almost 40% price of what the same laptop retailed for. So far it's working without any lag. Hope this continues(touchwood). By the way biggest positive for me was it's build. It's sleek looking with awesome backlit keyboard that is of immense help for students who can't type without looking at the keyboard(read darkly lit room). I haven't tested it's limits yet, but day to day software like web browser, spotify, outlook app, Ms Office & study specific Pycharm IDE,RStudio etc runs pretty good without any noticeable lag. Even battery life ~6 hrs is not bad for a refurbished laptop :)

    DO NOT BUY, ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE

Horrible, do not buy. I am on my third laptop and still having issues. The first one after a week, during startup had a pixelated screen, so they sent me a call tag to return it, which I lost all software that was installed and had to buy again. And they sent me a charger that did not work. They sent me a second one that looks like it was thrown in a dryer it was so banged up, and had dead pixels in the screen. I can understand scuffs, but when the whole cover of the laptop is torn and peeling off plus dead pixels, that is a bit much. They reluctantly sent me another call tag and received the 3rd laptop. I don't use it very often, but I am pretty confident the 3rd one is the same as the first one. The screen started doing the exact same pixilation during startup, and the touchpad and everything else would constantly freeze up. Now it just froze in the middle of using it and started making some loud crackling noises, and then a screen came up telling me that there is not an operating system. I would love to just get rid of this thing and get my money back to buy something else.

So far this device stinks. I'm getting the blue screen of death. Hoping Best Buy will support this blatant disregard for NOT refurbishing properly before selling.

Best Laptop I've had So Far

I switched from desktops to laptops around 10 years ago, and have used or owned so many varieties that I can't even begin to keep track. This one, refurbished, is BY FAR the best I've owned for sure. I upgraded from a mid-grade Lenovo that was starting to show its age (going on 4 years since original purchase) in slower speeds and a greater need for maintenance and I wasn't relishing the idea of trying to "clean it up" to get the speeds up since we have 3-4 Users designated on the laptop whose data would need to be purged. My husband's brother, who works in IT, introduced me to the idea of looking for SSD (Solid State Drive) in my next laptop purchase a couple of years ago. When I was enrolling in college again and planning to begin my classes during COVID completely online, I realized it was time to upgrade and I put the SSD on the "ideal but not required specs" list, knowing the price differential and not realizing just what a huge difference that technology can make to the usability of the laptop. I found this, refurbished, laptop which met (or exceeded) all of my specs, including the SSD at price point almost $200 less than I had planned to spend. The backlit keyboard, which I had considered unnecessary before, is worth it to work on homework in evenings. I never understood the need or value of a touchscreen in a traditional laptop and had no need for 2-in-1 functionality for my purposes at this time, so I am grateful not to have my computer susceptible to command by my one year old reaching out the pictures on the screen or grabbing the screen from behind. It's incredibly well-made, high-quality and feels sturdy without being too heavy. It has both a touch pad as well as an eraser option for mouse utilities built in. The touch pad is sensitive and responsive and can be shut off if you prefer the eraser or use a USB or Bluetooth based mouse. The SSD keeps the unit lightweight and cool on my lap. I don't have to worry about leaving it on my bed or couch against the fabric and it overheating. It's an ideal size for portability. My only complaint is that when I type, and reach for the BKSP (or to type an a or TAB key), it's less wide than on a standard keyboard and i often accidentally hit the "home" button or take a quick screenshot instead of correcting as I'm typing (On the left I toggle in and out of CAPS more than I would like. Other, extremely minor complaint is that the power cord delivered to me with the laptop is a Universal adapter rather than a designated HP made for my computer. It charges fine, but the L-shaped tip that goes into the computer disconnects quite easily from the cord and having to reattach or find a way to secure the two charging components every time I adjust my seating or where I'm working is a minor frustration. Added bonus to having purchased a refurbished laptop as opposed to a new one: far less bloatware and adware installed alongside WIN10 and it required far less setup/cleanup than I've seen. The technician who rebuilt and refurbished this machine did an excellent job of removing the software options and free-trial software I usually see on a new laptop I'm wrapping up my first two classes these next two weeks and I couldn't be more satisfied with my purchase. Highly recommend.

I am very happy with my purchase of the HP Elitebook. It’s what I use for work so I knew it was a great device..software and hardware.. pleased with the quality of the refurbished laptop. It seriously looks like a brand new laptop. No scratches or blemishes. Comes with a 1 year warranty so I did not think it was much risk. Thanks to Best Buy for providing high quality refurbished products at a discounted price...

I really like this computer so far. It runs smooth. My two complaints are: the quality of videos isn't the best when played on it and unless u make your screen at like 90% on web pages u have to scroll sideways to see your whole page. I'm guessing that's because it's a smaller computer and it's designed so u can see everything alright. Over all though I like it so far!

The refurbished computer works great. I was unsure how it was going to turn out but I am extremely satisfied. Yeah it's not new but it works like one. I love it for what I use it, which is work and school. It's pretty fast at all it's functions and I can honestly say they did a great job.

The laptop is quite fast and great. When my laptop was stolen and I needed another laptop to replace it, I couldn’t think of any other laptop than HP Elitebook because of its light weight and it is a business laptop. I will recommend it to others.

I could not be more pleased. I was skeptical but needed an expandable laptop to replace my older one but did not have the funds to buy new. This purchase was a very good fit and already had all the junk free trial subscriptions already removed. A+ condition, just as described.

So my online school is partnered with Best Buy and gave me a voucher of $400 to purchase a laptop. I have a toddler so most of my work is done at night hence the main feature I needed was a back-lit keyboard.. this was the most reasonable priced one. Once I received it, it had a scratch.. OK its refurbished no big deal.. then I had to spend hours updating it to have simple features work (ex: touch-pad) after all time spent updating/installing software... THERE IS NO BACKLIT KEYBOARD.. asked for hep from a BestBuy employee they helped with the brightness... not the keyboard.... beyond frustrating.. I might as well had but the $400 voucher towards a better quality laptop and came out of pocket for the remainder balance... Since I'm stuck with this due to this pandemic... any suggestions on how to get it (backlit kayboard) working

I feel very cofidant behind this laptop. It gives me a lot of help and info when and where I need it which is the most important part of being somewhat of a beginner with computers but like everyone else is more apprehensive to work and move forward with our studies when its not easy to find the info you need.....

The HP EliteBook is a great laptop in terms of storage space, speed and reliability. This is going to be used for a college freshman and it is a solid laptop for school work & research with power to play a few games. The laptop is in great shape for being refurbished, very few marks or scratches on the laptop.

I’m not sure about this computer yet. It started out with teetering feet. I could get new rubber feet or send the computer back. The feet have not arrived yet, since they weren’t in stock. Now I can’t turn the computer on at all. I have never had an issue with refurbished before, I don’t think I’ll buy refurbished again.
