Purchased the HP Envy Smart Touch about 1 month ago, so I am still learning each day about the computer. I really like the keyboard, the beats audio is really great, and I like the touch screen. The complete look of the computer is awesome. At first I was a little unsure about the computer and asked my manager and a couple of other computer smart co workers and they all agreed that it is a really good computer. So yes, I think the computer is a great computer for anyone!

The touchpad IS infuriating. The wireless speeds ARE slow. The silver plastic, simulating aluminum, looks cheap. The hinges needed to be stronger so there's less flex when using the touchscreen. The lighted keyboard is nice, but perhaps TOO bright. USBs don't insert ALL the way in. For the money, it should have come with 8 gb. RAM, not just six gb. The FX chip and R7 may graphics MAY be enhancing game play as advertised, as all Steam games are playing with little to no lag. Without a comparison laptop, it's hard to know if the extra money spent on the FX upgrade is paying off. Perhaps I should have stayed with the on sale A10/Radeon 8560 version that was $129 cheaper. HOWEVER, customer service in the BestBuy store was EXCELLENT, so there's that.

I bought it for gaming. The graphics are phenomenal. The laptop itself is not durable at all, and by simply running, setting idle, not on sleep, the battery lasts less than half of its advertised life time. The touch pad is atrocious, and because it runs on a Windows 8.1 OS, I have to fix my WiFi connection every time I turn it on. The touch screen is as good as one should expect. It's not a bad laptop, it's just not a good laptop. If it weren't so adequate for gaming, I'd regret it, but Christ that is one crisp image.

Windows 8 is strange to me only to have to learn the new windows 10 so im a little tired of having to learn everthing but Im getting there. The whole touch screen is nice but still getting used to it too but really cool. There is no dvd so kinda disappointed with that and if there is an option for a light up keyboard I still haven't found it. Things I didn't think about when I decided to buy BUT the beatsaudio sounds really good compared to my last laptop.

Caught this one on sale for $50 off. The FX processor intrigued me, I have an 8 core FX desktop that I game with, so I grabbed this one. Four processing cores and 6 graphics cores. It was a little poky, once I got it setup and patched, but 6 GB of ram is an odd number.Went to grab an 8 to swap out for the 2 GB stick that was in it (yes you can easily get to the ram) and brought it home. Matched all the specs for what was in it stock. The machine saw the ram, but refused to use it. A bit more digging showed that this machine needs LOW VOLTAGE ram. It will see other ram, even in the bios, but wont use it. Lucked into a sale on 16GB of Crucial, LOW VOLTAGE, on sale the next week and grabbed it. Dragon Age Inquisition and Evolve, on high settings, play flawlessly now. Does get a little warm, after a 3+ hours of playing, but nothing a standard cooling mat can't handle. It's not a gaming rig with the proper venting. But it's definitely worth the coin. I believe my son will be taking one to college with him next year. Yup, ,I'm that old!

I typically buy laptops under $500 but I wanted one that would last longer and capable of handling some light gaming. This laptop doesn't disappoint. It looks sleak, the touch screen is cool, but now that Windows 10 is out, I don't get to use it as much. I love the light up keyboard and all of the external hubs (HDMI and USBs, SD card). It handles gaming well too. So far I'm very happy with this great mid-grade laptop, I highly recommend.

Good looking, not too heavy, touch screen is a plus but I find I don't use it as much as I do the mouse. Overall I am happy with this computer as I upgraded from an ancient Toshiba, which served me well for many years. This is my first experience with HP and I just downloaded windows 10, although I haven't had but a brief experience with it. SO far so good but I have only owned it for a few short months.

I fell in love with the backlit keyboad, as well as the position of the keys. The speed is incredible. The only downside is that it doesn't have a disk drive, but disk drives are outdated so who cares!? I love this laptop, it is the right fit for me!

I bought this laptop to replace an older Samsung. This one has touch, backlit keyboard, dual wifi. All in all a lot of good features. But no DVD drive built-in I had to buy an external blue ray drive. So that in my opinion is a needed feature. 6 gig of RAM should be at least 8. That is why I give it 4stars.

I enjoy the beats audio. I am in a learning curve to remember that I can use touch screen as well as mouse. Once I coordibate this, I think it'll be great. I'm used to hp, so it was not too hard to navigate this one. Overall, I like it.

Keyboard - keyboard is great and leads to smooth typing, making this a great computer to get work done on. Sound - Plays music very loud and manages to keep the quality good. Visual - Clear crisp colors, the HD is great. Touch screen - can be difficult to use the screen to click on smaller items. Overall it's very convenient and it didn't take long to get used to after switching from a traditional laptop. Mouse pad - most of my problems with the computer come from the mouse pad. It's very touchy at times and inconsistent with what it does with you actions. For instance, I will intend on just moving my mouse up to click something and the pad will routinely drag and drop or minimize something instead. Speed - I haven't noticed any instances of the computer running slowly. Internet - does a good job of picking up signal everywhere that there's wireless.

Love the Laptop... Hate the Touchpad!

The laptop itself is great. Love the touchscreen, the feel/positioning of the keyboard, and the overall performance. Windows 8.1 is a huge learning curve (and I'm an IT professional!), but I'm getting used to it. The only part of the Envy that's driving me nuts is the touchpad. It jumps all over the place, highlights pages I'm not trying to highlight, and opens apps that I'm not trying to open. It's like the touchpad is possessed. I've tried turning down the sensitivity, turning off all of the "special" features that HP provides with the touchpad... but it's still very jumpy. I ended up using a wireless mouse and disabling the touchpad altogether to keep my blood pressure down. :)

I love this laptop. I had been on the shelf for a while about one to get to replace my dying Acer that was running slower than a turtle. After a lot of flip-flopping and recommendations from friends with HP laptops similar to mine, I finally bit the bullet. However, they did not have the machine I went in to purchase and when I asked about it the first sales rep to help me immediately steered me towards a $1500 machine. Really? I felt his sales technique was insulting and I didn't appreciate his attitude. I told him I'd be looking into it and wouldn't be purchasing. However, I got in contact with a friend with a similar HP model laptop and did some research and thinking and decided I really wanted this machine. The second sales rep was extremely helpful and friendly and he was the one I gave the sale to. My only complaint is not even with the system or Best Buy or in the manufacturer, but in Windows 8.1. I know it will upgrade soon, but shortly after I got my laptop, a BIOS update from HP ran and a bunch of Windows Updates ran. After that? My keyboard got a bad glitch in it where it would not recognize words with double letters. Like letter would be "leter." I contacted HP's support as the laptop is under warranty and they sent a box to me the next day. I got it back in about 8 business days and the problem was in bad updates messing with the keyboard driver where the driver had to be uninstalled and reinstalled. It was not in the hardware at all. Specs wise? This little guy performs really well for what I need it for and I really do love the Beats Audio. I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend this to anyone, but with the caution of being careful with updates etc and would steer anyone away from that first sales rep I had.

for the average user, this laptop is pretty great. It's not crazy expensive, but still has a lot of nice features. Said features include a touchscreen, 6gb of ram and a decent sized harddrive at 750gb. The biggest issue, and it appears to be relatively common from what I've seen, is the touchpad. It's quite finicky and can be very annoying/frustrating at times. But it's not always bad, however I'd still recommend getting a wireless mouse to help alleviate the headache it can be.

This laptops computer core functionality and multitasking ability will allow me to grow my business for quite some time without the need to re-invest or replace it in just a couple of years. I love the touch screen navigation ability (though still slightly intimidated by It) and the slimmed down design makes it extremely portable. Now, if I only had a teenager, I might learn how to REALLY use it.
