When I first saw this item I didn't apy to much attention to it, I thought it wasn't the kind of laptop I was looking for, but I was so wrong. The HP Envy is one of the best price-quality realtion laptop out there, the solid Full HD screen have a nice bright and good colors and view angles, the hinge is not as sturdy as I'll like it but it works for me, and the sound is great the B&O speakers can be modify with and intengrated software program in wich you can change the bass, treble, among others and when we talk about power there'll be a meh taste and I'll explain you why: Everybody has this fear that it doesn't have an Intel processor but that doesn't mean that the AMD FX that includes is a bad choice, you need to be conscient that it won't be as faster and effective as an Core i7 but it is powerful enough to run programs like Photoshop and play some casual games with really low quality. For me the processor works fine, sometimes it can get a little bit warm but you don't need to worry about it isn't like is going to burn. You can definitely have multiple programs running (like Spotify, Chrome and Word) and it will work perfect (also because it has 8 GB of DDR4 RAM). The keyboard is pretty comfortable to type and the backlit extra is perfect, the trackpad is big and very soft I even like it. The battery is solid it can last up to 6 hours with 75% brightness and even 8 hours with 25% of brightness. If you're worried about the Hard Drive disk don't be, because is a 7200rpm hard drive it run fast and the boot time is pretty solid (3.8 seconds) The webcam is decent for the price but not the best of it. The I/O is normal it has two USB (the normal version), one USB type-C, an HDMI entrance, a Kesignton port, a Headphone/Mic jack and a SD card reader. It doesn't have a CD optical drive but I think that it isn't useful for me anymore. In few words this computer is a very solid option for the price I bought it (480$ + tax) and it can compete with any i5 laptop out there, but considering the details it has (backlit keaboard, Full HD touchscreen with a 360 hinge wich is pretty good, an audio quality that is perfect for watching media content and the design of it) is a very good option.

Solid metal chassis doesn't flex no matter where you hold it. Quick startup and speedy response from the new 7th gen AMD APU processor. The APU graphics are amazing considering they are integrated. It's good that fast DDR4 RAM was included as the apu shares the main memory. Can play newer games on low to med settings which is very respectable. Love the multiple folding configurations of the screen. Regular laptop mode for typing, tent mode for vertical touch, tablet mode for drawing. You can also lay the keyboard on the table behind the screen for a better movie watching experience. 1TB is tons of space with 7200 rpm boots quickly and is quicker than the older 5200rpm HP I had. Latest wifi technology can keep up with your MIMO 802.11 AC router. All in all one of the best bang for the buck vs Intel laptops.

I have been doing my research on a new computer for a while now and it it was finally time for me to make my purchase. I finally found computer that was good enough for what I needed it to do. The only problem is I didn't want a computer that was just good enough, I wanted a computer that was incredible. I am so glad I took one more look before purchasing that other computer because when I saw the HP envy at this price I rushed over to Best Buy and bought it. It has all the bells and whistles you could ask for, from speed, to more than enough power to multitask, to a full-size lit keyboard, and all of the top-of-the-line options that that you could want. I am very pleased with my purchase and if you are looking for a computer with these specs, you won't find one at this price. I would hurry because I have a feeling they won't last long.

I really like this laptop. I only gave four stars because I think it's too big for the tablet mode. I absolutely love the touchscreen feature! I love having the number key section on the side, too! I think it is priced accordingly, too.

I was looking for a larger screen laptop so I did not have to struggle to see the screen. After reading positive reviews and checking them at several stores I settled on this one. Cost was one determining factor. This has a traditional hard drive, not a SSD. It is also AMD. If you prefer solid state drive and Intel, then this would not be a good fit. The PC is fast, reliable and is just what I needed. The only drawbacks I have found is that it tends to heat up after about an hours use and the battery is not as long lasting as I had hoped. (about 3 hours of continuous use).

This notebook meets all of my needs. It is thin and light, and easy to take places. It is fast, and the touch screen is a nice feature that I never had on my previous notebook (a Lenovo X1 Carbon). The keyboard has a good feel and layout, though I like the keyboard of my X1 much better. My only complaint with this computer -- and the reason for only giving it 4 stars -- is all the extra stuff that HP adds to the basic Windows 10. I'll never use any of that extra garbage, but I also don't know what I can safely remove. I wish HP (and a few other vendors) would deliver computers that starts out with a clean, unencumbered version of Windows, and a utility app that lets me select any HP add-ons that I might find useful. Instead, all the extra garbage comes pre-installed and difficult for a non-IT person to get rid of.

    It's Been Great So Far

It's a little early, since we've only had them for about 2 weeks, but the laptop has been great so far. We bought two of them for my two nieces to bring to college, and they love them. The price was good after the sale and the student discount. It's a model that's just been replaced by a newer version, so it's new enough to still have modern technology but old enough to be nicely discounted. The machines look very sleek, and the girls love the touch screen, although that wasn't something we were particularly looking for. It's an 8GB machine with 1TB memory, which is what we were looking for. Our goal is for these machines to last them for all 4 years in college. It's a little heavier than some of the other laptops, but I'm hoping they don't carry the computers around with them too much. As I understand it, when they do need to take it with them they put it into their backpacks. It looked like it was put together better than some of the other machines we saw. The guy who sold it to us was a Microsoft rep at Best Buy, and he seemed much more knowledgable than anyone else we spoke to at Best Buy, Staples, and MicroCenter. He strongly recommended this computer over the others they had. Two weeks into our purchase, we're satisfied so far.

I bought this computer about a month ago to replace an older HP laptop whose hard drive had died. I wanted to get an inexpensive laptop, but didn't want to go too cheap. This HP Envy is a great option for a mid-tier computer. Here are my thoughts on it so far: -Great looking screen! -AMD processor is very good, especially when it works together with the Radeon graphics for gaming. Not high-end, but does a good job with games like Civilization: Beyond Earth, which is capable of taking advantage of AMD graphics. -Touchpad is excellent. After the horrible, nearly unusable touchpad that I had on my HP dv6, this one is wonderful. -Lighted keyboard is a great feature when you're trying to work in a low-light environment. -1 TB hard drive gives plenty of space, and it's fast, too. -Very thin and well built--gives a feeling of confidence in its build quality -Battery life is good (4-5 hours or so), but not outstanding. Still, this is a lot better than the 2 hours I got with my old PC. -Stays cool, even after hours of usage, and the fan is very quiet. -2 in 1 options are good to have, but I will pretty much just use it in regular laptop mode. -Touchscreen is a cool novelty, or a necessity if you use it in tablet mode, but otherwise it's not very useful. -B & O sound is excellent! Again, such an improvement over the old dv6. -Numeric keypad is nice to have. In short, I think this laptop is a really good value for an above-average performer. It sits at the low end of the the better computers that HP makes, and you can really feel the difference in build quality over their entry-level lines. This is a way to get good quality without breaking the bank.

I recently purchased this to replace my dell laptop which had a similar processor, memory, etc. I will say that my old laptop started much faster, however this laptop seems to be handling gaming much better and doesn't seem to have the same overheating issues. I do miss having win7, between HPs built in programs and all the app promos which come with win10, it's sort of bogged down, so you'll need to clear out some of that. The mousepad was a little tricky for me to get used to, I had actual buttons before but that's probably a preference issue. Overall between the processing power, the ability to use it as a huge tablet and the price I paid using my student discount, this laptop was a nice upgrade.

Can't say love as I spend my days on a macbook retina but this is, so far, a solid, enjoyable windows PC. I only have a few hours of use in so far and most of that is installations, config, etc. but being a veteran IT guy, having set up and used MANY pcs, I can already tell this is a quality machine and great value for $629. Performance: -I'm not much of a gamer but I am a software developer using tools with similar performance demands and this computer does not disappoint. -In the process of downloading and installing programs I was rather impressed with wifi performance (download time) and install time as well. -Unzipping a 300MB (385MB uncompressed) file seemed noticably slow but I am very used to dealing with SSDs so may just be perspective. -Again could be the difference in traditional HDD and SDD but start up on this machine seems slow despite finding no bloat in what is included in start up. 3-4 minutes to become generally usable then another 1-2 minutes of laggy response. Display: -I googled a test 1080 steaming video and display was excellent also with no stuttering or buffering. I'm not much of a gamer so can't comment about video performance in that arena. -I have display scaling at 150% to make icons, backgrounds look the best to me but at that setting common microsoft programs windows, and some third-party graphics and text are very slightly blurry. This, however, is common among windows 10 and not unique to this laptop or HP. -In summary, display is impressive for static and general video content. I had not planned on it but now imagine I will watch a few movies on this computer based on my experience so far. Physical: -keyboard: good, on par with macbook. As with any other full keyboard including 10-key put on a 15 inch base, some keys are rather small but placement and size of keys on this keyboard have not thrown me yet. -trackpad: better than most I've used in recent years. Pointer tracking (moving) and single-click respond to feather light touch/tap. If you press slightly harder there is a wonky, sort of uneven feel to it. Slightly harder still, at the bottom of the trackpad, feels like a normal, solid physical button click. -temperature: I've not yet experienced this laptop getting even a little warm, and I've used it so far only in my lap, for extended periods of time. However I've not yet began running any real processor intensive activities. Other - I use McAfee for antivirus on my other windows computers and this computer comes with McAfee installed but what seems to be a bug in the configuration step is preventing me from successfully logging in to Mcafee to add this computer to my existing account. I'm sure this is something I can and will fix with an uninstall/reinstall but still a minor frustration. Whether you are a casual computer user or tech aficionado, I believe this laptop will impress you and meet any needs. Though I plan to put in SSD and additional RAM, I could use this as-is for day to day efforts and probably not be frustrated, and I'm easily frustrated by underwhelming technology performance. Happy computing!

I bought this computer because I was returning to graduate school, and my old one couldn't keep up. I have been pleasantly surprised so far. It's fast and light weight with decent speakers, which was important for me. I really enjoy the backlit keyboard and touch screen features as well as the 360 degree design that basically converts to a tablet. The only drawback is not having a CD/DVD drive.

I am really glad that I made this purchase. At first, I was apprehensive about buying a laptop without a cd drive but I got over it. This laptop is lightweight and can easily fit into a sack pack. I like that it is touch screen and that the screen can rotate into tablet mode. I also had my 4-year-old daughter in mind when searching for a laptop because she was used to using a touchscreen tablet. IT serves its purpose in my household

I originally got this laptop because I needed a computer for college. I was also sold on it because of the AMD processor; I figured it could handle my light gaming (that's a mistake on my part). After about an hour of playing a non-graphics intensive game it overheated and shut off. So I took it back and just got a proper gaming PC- problem solved! Haha. But definitively don't buy this if you're looking to do any type of gaming. It simply overworks itself. BUT if you're looking for a beautiful computer to do your work on, watch Netflix, and play a game (as long as you don't play for TOO long), you're getting the right PC! The touchscreen/2-1 feature is awesome and convenient, it starts up quickly, it's easy to clean and the finish is brushed so it's not a fingerprint magnet. The numeric keypad is a plus and also the backlight. The laptop itself lasted a while on the battery- about 4 hours. Also it is very thin! It is by far a well built laptop and very much worth the price. I would suggest it to the average college student.

I bought this computer when my other laptop crashed....2 weeks before school started! I typically like to research everything before I buy but I was in a pinch. After hours in Best Buy, I finally decided on the HP Envy. I am very pleased with the speed of this computer. I had it for almost a month now & I don't have any issues (other than I wish there was a light on the num lock key so I know it's on). I love the separate keypad on the right. I got the black one instead of silver and it is very professional looking. This one is bigger than my last one and a bit heavier but it is still thin and not bulky. I'll just get used to the weight difference. I absolutely love the touch screen! It also has 3 USB ports (1 of which is the new USB kind), SD card slot (the same kind my camera uses....convenient!), and HDMI port! I can't say anything bad about this laptop. I hope this has helped someone!
