The HP - OfficeJet Pro 9730e Wireless Wide Format All-In-One Inkjet Printer with 3 Months of Instant Ink is a massive big boy of a printer. Set up took a few minutes then i was able to easily add the printer to my home network using the HP Smart app. There's so much added convenience when you're able to print from any device wothlut additional setup. Ive had no issues with the quality of the printer. There are 2 trays, one for 11×17 the other for 8.5×11. I print 11×17 for work, as this has saved me a few trips to the office. Printing speeds are much better than the prior HP printer i reviewed prior. Scanning and copying are both very fast and simple to use. Overall, I think this is printer does a fantasic job for production printing. Weighing in at 55lbs, this thing is also a beast. It will take up some space, but your alternative after this is gonna be something like the copier you see at offices. The instant ink and paper trials are also a nice touch. I had received my first shipment of ink about 4 days after set up. Overall great product and tremendous value.

This is not a review of the printer but of tech support for HP. I called having issues with connecting my IPad to the printer wireless. I need to print out 11 x 17 drawings to review while working at home and corporate does not allow us to connect wireless or with cable to our computers our personal printers. Called and talked to 3 different agents saying they have to send this to up the chain. Get a phone call to help with agent and he diagnosed my printer had a virus without having me check anything on my printer and wanted to send a tech agent to my house for $50 dollars on a brand new HP printer. I finally got it working on my own but support was useless. The printer works fine but it is too early for a review of the printer.

Large Format Printer, Easy Setup/Use, Great Screen

I'll start by saying the HP 9730e is big - yes, it's a wide format printer, but I was a little surprised by how big it is, and it's also got some serious weight. I would encourage you to check out the HP 9730e in store before you buy, because on reflection, its size makes it best suited to work vs home (unless you have a large home office). For this review, I setup the HP 9730e first at home, but then decided to move it to the office, so this is a two part review. First Impressions I've said it before, will say it again, the HP 9730e is a BIG printer. Fortunately, HP make it easy to lift out of the box thanks to handles on the bag. In the box you get: - HP 9730e wide format printer - HP Instant Ink Cartridges (Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, Black - Black is twice the size of color, nice) - Power Cable - Various Leaflets, but these direct you to HPs website and app Setup This was the nice surprise. Aside from a lot of blue packing tape to remove (check the trays carefully!) and the foam on the scanner, then power on. The full color touch screen is excellent quality (smartphone like screen) and if you follow the steps, you'll have your ink installed, wifi connected, and be doing your first test print - in my case, documents I needed to file my taxes. I will say, even getting the HP OfficeJet Pro setup in my office on the corporate network was easy, it was just getting it loaded into the car and into the freight elevator that was hard (again, big heavy printer, ha! ha!) The best part of setup and use is the touch screen. It's just clear, vibrant, touch is responsive, and the design is smart. I also love that you can til the screen, so you can have the printer desk height and not have to squat down to read the screen. Using the HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e I know people have mixed views of HP Instant Ink, which is what this printer supports. There's, to be fair, some anxiety on first use as you print test pages and get a feel for the printer. But, the HP Instant Ink pricing has become much more reasonable. I got $10 credit in the app when I signed up and there's 3 months included, and that should give me enough to know my average print needs until I settle on what I really need month to month. You can also change you subscription at any time, and, at least for me, it's not hard to predict if I will need to print a lot in a month. I will say that what's great about the 9730e is the dual trays. I am splitting the trays between plain white and colored paper - the latter is a work requirement, we use yellow for invoices. In use, the OfficeJet Pro is quiet and I, while I'm no expert, it seems more energy efficient than the old black and white laser I had in my office that I replaced (no flickering of my desk lamp as it powers up). Printing speeds are also fast, I did a stopwatch test and got about 16-17pages per minute on documents that were an even mix of text, images, and some color (internal finance reports). The A3 scanner is huge. I don't really need to scan at A3 size - this is probably the one thing I am not sure how to comment on the A3 scanning, as I never need to scan anything that size. I tested a letter sized scan, and the scanning speed was a fast as I would expect. Verdict. Overall, I think the HP 9730e is a great office printer - especially if you need to print wide format. This is the sort of printer built for anything you need for work, and those science fair projects where you family needs to print something a little bigger. The trade off is the size, but for office use (which is where I am using it now) it's definitely great. If you're thinking about it for home, I would (again) encourage you to see it in store to make sure you have a desk or shelf big enough for it. I only gave it 4 instead of 5, because I think it's important you read this review and consider the size before you make your decision. Otherwise, recommended!

I’m used to Laser Printers and their size and weight. This is larger, but lighter. One aspect I really like about HP is the ease of setup. Using a smartphone or tablet you can easily set it up with an app. Setting up with Windows 11 is as easy as the Android app, but the Android app has a lot more options and a faster use. I did run into issue trying to print in the Wide Format. I setup Tray 1 with Letter and Tray 2 with Tabloid (11x17). Try as I might I could not get my poster image to print to Tray 2 even though Tray 2 was selected. Via the Android app no issues at all. This was a JPG document, printing a PDF did not have this issue. Unboxing the printer was very easy, even by myself. The top two pieces of styrofoam are easily removed and the printer is inside a large plastic bag with handles, so lifting it out is very easy. The build quality seems to be good overall. The paper tray slides do not slide out so smoothly, but they are secure and not flimsy. The scanner bed and is wide format, but the ADF can only scan up to Legal size paper, which is pretty typical. Print quality is really good and definitely has a bit more vibrant color than laser jets that I am used to. The heat really changes the look a bit. I was shocked at how quick it could print a colored poster from hitting print to finished, in around 20 seconds. Ink obviously is a little heavier and there needs to be a bit of drying time, so remember that when you are printing a poster. On a monochrome poster that was used, there is a gradient in the background and not sure why but it had clear lines when it was printed. I did print from PDF at highest quality so its possible there was an issue with the file type. My daughters are taking classes in digital design and have some projects requiring 11x17 printing and unfortunately at school there are always issues with their printers and/or getting connected. So having this on hand definitely helps them get their jobs done and move on. For the price, you really cannot beat the feature set and print quality. I know I spoke on the build quality and it was more of FYI. This will be used for home use and so will last a very long time. In a business setting, a small office I think this would last. The duty cycle per month is rated at 30,000 prints so at least the internals are designed to keep up with high print office demand. I can easily recommend this printer if you are looking for cost efficient wide format printer.

I want to start off be addressing the elephant in the room. Its this printer. Its the size of an elephant. That is all. Ok, well maybe I exaggerated a bit, but when compared to your typical desktop printer, this thing is HUGE. Its footprint is just shy of 2 ft wide, by 16 inches high, by 20 inches deep. That being said, it will fit on a typical filing cabinet or end table, however if you get any foot traffic around the printer, I would definitely allow yourself a little wiggle room on your placement. After getting past the mere size of the printer, I will say that this HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e has made my small business printing a breeze. As usual, the HP setup was simple. Everything is handled through the HP Smart App. I do prefer physical setup on the printer, however I did not experience any frustrations in setup, and actually quite the contrary. I was up and printing in no time, and on to the more involved settings. On previous printers, I have struggled to figure out how to set up "Scan to Email", which is something I utilize a lot for data retention. This is the first time I have seen this process simplified in the app and I was able to setup up email destinations for scans in 60 seconds or less. I was over the moon for this setting! When it comes to print quality, it is as you would expect from a quality printer. I have not tried any banners or posters yet to utilize the 11x17 print option, however it has handled my day to day needs flawlessly. The two paper trays will nearly handle a reem of paper each and you can program these trays to default to specific sizes. On previous HP models, I had a standard printer paper in one tray and envelopes in another for when I printed labels. Another great HP feature. I will say that after a recent power outage during a winter storm, the printer did fail to self rectify when power came back, however a manual power cycle did seem to rectify the issue. Overall, this printer will definitely handle the needs of a small office or student lab. I would not hesitate to trust this printer to get the job done when needed. And on that note, I am off to print invoices for this upcoming week!

I've been putting this printer through its paces for a few weeks now, and I've got a pretty good feel for what it's all about. First off, let's address the elephant in the room: this is a wide-format printer. If you're just printing standard 8.5x11 documents, you might be overkilling it. But if you regularly need to print larger documents, blueprints, posters, or anything that goes beyond the standard letter size, this thing is a lifesaver. Setting it up was surprisingly straightforward. HP has really streamlined their setup process. I used the HP Smart app on my phone, and it walked me through everything step-by-step. Connecting to my Wi-Fi was seamless, and I was printing in no time. Even if you're not particularly tech-savvy, you should be able to get this printer up and running without too much trouble. The print quality is excellent. Text is sharp and clear, and graphics are vibrant and detailed. I've printed everything from standard documents to high-resolution photos, and I've been consistently impressed with the results. Especially on the larger format prints, the detail really shines. If you're doing any kind of design work or presentations, this printer will definitely deliver. Speed-wise, it's pretty quick. It's not the fastest printer I've ever used, but it's definitely not slow. For standard documents, it churns them out at a decent pace. And even when printing larger, more complex documents, it doesn't bog down. One of the features I really appreciate is the automatic duplex printing. It's a huge time-saver and paper-saver. It just automatically prints on both sides of the paper, which is great for reports, presentations, or anything where you want to reduce paper waste. The touchscreen display is also a nice touch. It's responsive and easy to navigate. You can access all the printer's features and settings directly from the display, which is convenient. The interface is intuitive, so you don't have to spend a lot of time digging through menus to find what you're looking for. Now, let's talk about the ink. This printer uses HP's Instant Ink service, which is a subscription-based ink replacement program. I was initially a bit skeptical, but I've actually found it to be quite convenient. You pay a monthly fee based on the number of pages you print, and HP automatically sends you new ink cartridges when you're running low. It takes the guesswork out of knowing when you need to buy ink, and it can save you money in the long run, especially if you print a lot. The printer is also relatively quiet, which is a plus. It doesn't make a lot of noise while it's printing, so it's not disruptive if you're working in a quiet environment. One thing to note is that this is a fairly large printer. If you have limited space, you'll need to make sure you have enough room for it. It's definitely not a compact printer. Also, while the paper tray capacity is decent, if you're doing very large print runs, you might find yourself having to refill it more often. Overall, I'm really happy with the HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e Wireless. It's a reliable, high-quality printer that's perfect for anyone who needs to print wide-format documents. The print quality is excellent, the setup is easy, and the features are convenient. The Instant Ink service is a nice bonus, and the printer is relatively quiet. If you're looking for a wide-format printer that can handle a variety of printing tasks, I would definitely recommend giving this one a look.

WOW, I needed a new home office printer and I needed to be able to print 11x17 documents. This is EXACTLY what I needed. I have been an HP fan for years. And this lives up to the HP reputation. Unboxing was easy. Be sure to locate all the blue tape and remove it prior to turning it on. The setup instructions are super easy to follow and guide you step b step. But this printer almost sets itself up. SO EASY. Just follow the on screen prompts and you will be set up in no time. The only speed bump I hit was installing the ink cartridges. The instructions indicate there should be a “click” when you press the ink into the slot but I never heard a click. Otherwise this was the easiest set up of any printer. The 2 large paper trays are awesome. The bottom one can be extended to allow for paper up to 11x17 size which is exactly what I needed. You do have to extend the BACK of the tray as well, I missed that at first. But once I figured that out I was off and printing. The touch screen on the front is quite large and tilts out for easy reading and interaction. The paper trays hold a lot of paper, you have an auto feeder on top as well. This has IT ALL for a home office. I downloads the app to my phone and I can easily control scanning from my phone. I also had NO issues locating the printer on my home network from my other laptops, phones and tablets and was able to PRINT. with ease from all devices,. I can even control the type of printing and get 2 pages on 1 for example and duplex printing. I am signed up for the Instant Ink 3 month trial as well and look forward to seeing how that goes and how much I really print at home. It does need a large space to sit. I have put mine on our entry table in our front hallway for now. Honestly it is not an issue but it is visually larger than most printers I have had in the past.

If you're in need of a reliable, fast, and color-accurate printer for your office or workspace, the HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e could be the perfect choice. As a wide-format printer, it can handle print jobs up to 11x17" and delivers vibrant, screen-accurate prints thanks to the cutting-edge P3 Color technology, which offers a wider color gamut than the standard sRGB. It also features automatic two-sided printing, an auto document feeder, and two 250-sheet input trays—perfect for high-volume printing. Wireless Connectivity and App Integration: This printer has a reliable dual-band Wi-Fi, it can automatically detect and resolve any connectivity issues, ensuring smooth operation. Plus, the HP app allows you to print, scan, copy, or fax directly from your smartphone. I like this flexability especially with teenage kids that need stuff printed. HP+ and Instant Ink: The OfficeJet Pro 9730e offers an added bonus with HP+. By activating HP+, you’ll receive 3 months of free ink through the Instant Ink subscription service, ensuring that your printer is always stocked up without the hassle of running out of ink. After the free trial period, a monthly fee applies, but you can save up to 50% on ink delivery. It's a convenient way to keep your printer running smoothly. User-Friendly Touchscreen: The touch screen is a nice touch!! Navigating through the printer’s settings is a breeze with its 4.3-inch color touchscreen, which offers a user interface that’s similar to using a smartphone. This makes it incredibly easy to set up and operate, even for those who may not be tech-savvy. Final Thoughts: Overall, the HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e offers fast, high-quality color printing with a variety of features that make it a standout in its category. From its impressive print speed and large paper capacity to its advanced security features and the convenience of HP+, it’s an excellent investment for any office or small business. This is an overall great printer for home office, small business, and personal use. We print a lot for both business and personal purposes. I love that this printer supports A3/11x17 paper for larger printing as well as down to envelope and photo sizes. It's not nearly as fast as a laser printer but it does the job. It does take up quite a bit of space but with all the features it has, it's worth it. I haven't had double sided printing work ver well on some of the laser or desk jet printers, and it works flawlessly on this printer. The ink cartridges have also lasted as advertised so far. It also has a really large flatbed scanner for scanning larger documents or images. Overall, it was quick to setup - maybe 25 minutes, but a lot of that was idle time for me while it ran through the setup processes. I simply ran the initial setup then scanned the QR code in the box and the app did the rest. After that, I was able to add it to other computers quickly and seamlessly within seconds. Overall, it looks like a well built printer that should last a long time.

The HP Office-Jet Pro 9730e is an all in one printer featuring a wide format (A3) paper capacity. The printer has 2 high capacity (250 page) paper trays and an output area that holds 75 pages. The automatic document feeder will handle 35 sheets at a time with a size limit of 8.5x14 while the flatbed will scan A3. 1200x1200 dpi is the maximum hardware scan resolution. The printer will make up to 99 copies at a 600 dpi resolution. The printer is fast, printing B&W and color at up to 34 pages per minute in draft mode and up tp 22 pages per minute in normal mode B&W and up to 18 pages per minute in normal color mode. I found the 2 sided color printing to be much speedier than my current printer. There is a one year warranty with an option to extend for another year. This printer comes with a 3 month trial of HP Instant Ink where for a monthly fee they will send ink as you need it. I really like the instant ink type programs because retailers seem to have discontinued or run out of the ink I need when I search for it. HP is offering a similar program on paper which I have not yet tried. Speaking of paper, I tried photo printing through the included app. I have a number of ink jet photo papers, mostly made by other printer companies. These papers were purchased in the past to be used with the printers in the 4 offices I worked out of. A couple of the photo papers gave me horrible results but a third brand gave me a great result in both B&W and color printing. I will soon buy and try HP branded paper which should be the best match for this printer. I loved the color printing adjustments in the included app. This is much simpler to use than the professional software that came with my camera. I have had a couple of minor issues with this printer in the week I have had it. Setup took more effort than I am used to. At one point the included app sent me to do a task on the printer touchscreen and the touchscreen told me to perform the task in the app. After initial setup, adding additional devices took some added effort as well. The paper options on the touchscreen do not match the options on the print menu in the app which gives a paper mismatch error. These issues were minor and I guess part of the learning curve most new electronics require. This printer, while probably overkill, is a vast improvement over my current home office printer. I am "retired" (or as retired as one can get from ongoing family businesses) so my printing needs vary wildly over the year. I create and print large databases and spreadsheets at times. This printer will allow me to print these large sheets at home when needed instead of having to take it to an office. I also look forward being able to print larger photos at home. Aside from the initial learning curve hiccups this works printer great for me.
