Customers frequently mention the Pavilion Desktop's ease of use, performance, and attractive price as significant advantages. Many appreciate its ample RAM, storage, and hard drive capacity. However, some users express dissatisfaction with the operating system and the lack of an HDMI port. The computer's quiet operation and lightweight design are also frequently noted.

My old Win 7 computer finally conked out and I was forced to purchase a new computer. Even thougth I prefer Win 7 over Win 10, I was really impressed with the features and performance of this Win 10 computer. My pros and cons are listed below.
PRO;s - 1TB Hard Drive, 8GB Ram, Wireless, Bluetooth, Easy internet setup, 6 USB Ports (2 Front, 4 Back), slim design, Lightweight (easy to move or re position, pairs with my HP Tablet and other Bluetooth devices
CON''s - No Mic Jack on the front of unit (only one jack for headphone). This is an issue for me because I use a headset that requires a Mic and headphone jack.
This unit has a vertical multi-drive instead of a horizontal drive. I prefer to insert my media horizontally.
The con's on this system are minor and reflect my personal preferences. This unit performs well for both everyday use and moderate gaming. With this system the pros outweigh the cons.
Overall, this is a good system at a good price. I am very happy with this product.

Thought I got it for a good price during cyber Monday deals. Was able to load in 16 year old MS-Word 2000 and MS-Excel with the New Windows 10 which I really like. Even working with old Adobe PhotoElements II. Also hooked into a 2006 Samsung Laser Printer which fortunately Samsung basic drivers will let it be recognized and work with Windows 10. I am so happy that all I had to do was buy an inexpensive tower and still be able to use older software and hardware with this unit.
Seen complaints that this will not keep pace with the more serious gamers. However AMD just offered an update in their graphics software in December so it might make a difference in how it performs. Not an automatic update so one needs to check it out.
Runs very quiet and whole unit is very light.

I got this to replace a pavilion a1220n which was and is still usable offline, but was not capable of being updated past windows 8, causing many connectivity issues. Basically everything about the 550-a114 is an overall improvement from the ten year old model it replaced. Windows 10 does present somewhat of a learning curve, but I think it is a smoother system.
The cd tray is a bit "minimal" when compared to the older model, but such is the trend with all manufacturing nowadays. It also runs far more quietly-almost can't notice that it's running

I've always had an HP desktop. It was time to upgrade after 8-9 years! I knew I would be sticking with HP since my old pc never gave me any issues. I've had this one for about 6 weeks. Works great! It is fast and quiet. It is more compact than my old HP and I like the metallic front.

Replacing a desktop XP system

I purchased this system to replace a much older HP system running XP. My main requirement was that I was running 4 monitors on the older HP and wanted to maintain using at least 2 of the monitors. The older HP had a special graphics card that could drive the 4 monitors. I was also looking for something with over 4 G memory and a lot of storage (for photos). The system's main purpose is to surf the web, and store and edit pictures. Like most others, I do most of my "daily routine" on a laptop or tablet. This system is "the little workhorse in the basement".
After looking at the selection of desktops at BBY, I selected this model for the following reasons. Price was right; it has 8 G memory and a 1 TB disk; it has both a VGA and a DVI connection for connecting 2 monitors without any special cables / adapters.
In the Store, I wasn't certain if the VGA / DVI video connections were an “either/or” or “both” type of connection. It turns out that it is a “both”, meaning you can plug one monitor into the VGA, another into the DVI, giving you “side by side” screens, not just a “mirror” of the other screen. Windows 10 recognizes both monitors separately.
Pros: 8 G memory, 1 TB storage, can drive 2 monitors, pretty quick system.
Cons: I just want to point out two things. If you look at the back, there are faux slots on the back, meaning you would need a hack saw to cut out any slots to add cards. The power supply is probably just big enough to run what is in the box. In my situation, this is fine, so really isn't a “con”. Your situation may be different.
Overall I am very pleased with the system. It does exactly what I need it to do.

I had avoided replacing my computer for far too long because of all the horror stories about new operating systems. I simply didn't want to deal with the hassle. Now, I have to say I'm happy my old (Windows Vista, anyone?) old, old computer decided to finally give up the ghost. The computer is both lightweight and has a nice footprint. I am disabled and it was easy for me to manage. The setup software process was incredibly streamlined and intuitive. There were no glitches; it was blissfully stress free. The system is speedy and very user friendly.
Remember to buy a microphone if you don't have one. It opens a whole new world of features which are, again, intuitive to use and very useful on a daily basis.
A side note about the wonderful people who comprise the Geek Squad -- I chose to purchase additional RAM as I do a lot of graphics, and they installed it on the spot with no additional charge for that service. You can't ask for better than that!

Very fast. I didn't realize how much more capable 8GB is. Absolutely in LOVE with Windows 10 and the package. New Media Players absolutely blow away everything before them. OS is so much easier to use and more concise. LOVE the package. Graphics and storage, speed on this machine are superior to my greatest expectations.

Works fine for everything but high graphics gaming. Does what any good computer is supposed to do and it is perfect for newbies. If you plan to upgrade parts then this computer is not for you, as the processor is soldered on to the motherboard. Overall great computer if ur on a tight budget.

I'm very happy with this computer and was amazed at how light it is. Windows 10 is easy to use no confusion and watching movies browsing the Internet as well as paying bills online has been no trouble now with is computer that has plenty of space and no issues with hardware. Great look too

My old system died, so I saw this guy on sale at Best Buy. 8GB and 1TB at a good price so I went for it. Setup was a snap, everything worked first time. Unlike my last system this has wireless and bluetooth built in which is a plus of course.
What is interesting is that it has a power supply external like a laptop would. That makes the system lighter, more quiet, and somewhat smaller profile. 1080p graphics built in.
Overall has been good for me.

I was a little afraid of buying this pc based on some of the reviews, but there were enough good reviews I took the chance, and I am glad that I did. I got the computer on sale for $320 and I couldn't be happier with the 1TB hard drive and I'm loving 8GB of RAM. I always buy the discount computers since I am not a gamer, but I do work online and need speed. I gotta say this computer works great, and was super easy to start up. I was able to import the docs from my former computer without a problem, as well as install the programs. A few reviewers complained about the power cord because it's like a laptop, but I'm not finding that to be a problem. The only item that caught my attention, which hasn't been a problem, is that I think this computer originally had Win 8 as the OS, but was updated to Win 10. There are places in the system where I see the remnants of Win 8 (of which I am not a fan). I am able to ignore this since it hasn't created a problem.

I bought this to replace a 5 year old HP mini-tower that was failing. The computer works well, with more and faster memory and a better cache system than my old computer, as well as a faster disk. I never came close to using the 1 T Byte capacity of the disk on my old system, so I'm fine with having the same disk size.
While I never used the expansion capability on my old computer, I did on the ones I owned before that. My first thought was to install my old disk as a second drive on this computer, both to recover my old data and provide extra disk space. However, there were no extra SATA connections, no free memory slots, and what first appeared to be openings for expansion cards in the back of the case turned out to just be impressions in the sheet metal. I ended up buying a USB3 enclosure for my extra disk, which when used with one of the two USB3 ports on the computer operates close to the speed of a normal disk interface. About the only expansion capability on this computer is through the USB ports.
This is a nice computer if you will be satisfied with it just as it comes, but do not expect to be able to add additional capability. It is very limited by the small power supply and lack of free expansion slots.

This PC has pretty much everything you need as a basic PC. Plenty of memory and hard drive space and the processor is relatively fast. The graphics are reasonable at this price point. The PC has a separate power supply (like a laptop) which is OK and is very quiet. The cons are a very flimsy DVD drive and the unit is not expandable (other than memory) - no connections for an extra hard drive or slot for a video upgrade, It is essentially a laptop in a box.

To start, it's basically a laptop inside a tower case. The laptop power supply brink was my first clew. Then the light weight. But, it performs well, the processor is plenty speedy and a terabyte of disk is wonderful. Couple things I learned - it works better for me as a FAT desktop computer, laid on its side. And it would have been very nice if there were a real desktop DVD/RW drive installed instead of the "ultra slim" laptop piece that actually is there. Still, it's well worth what I paid - especially after I got rid of the "trial ware".
