    Very good for the price.

I got it on sale for $555 out the door. It had a little too much crapware from HP, so I installed a fresh copy of windows and updated with the latest drivers from HP and Intel. Bios also had a very recent update which I installed. This is not a power house PC, but it runs very well for the average user. The 128GB solid state drive could have been a little larger for today's needs for larger applications running along side the OS, but since this wasn't for me and was for a very light user, it was a great option. The additional 1TB hard drive was a great way to make sure backups were happening frequently rather than not at all. 12GB of memory may not be running in dual channel, but it's a good amount for a light user and will not need upgrading anytime soon. Can't complain about the speed and efficiency of the i5 8400 six core processor it came with either. Powering on from power off state took me to the logged in desktop, ready to go, in 30 seconds. The built in graphics are weak, and the power supply is even weaker. If you decide to upgrade the power supply, be aware it's not a full ATX size, so it's a little inconvenient if you plan to put in a larger graphics card that needs more juice. That's the only reason for a 4 star rating over a 5. I'm rating this on what I got for the price I paid. I'd recommend this PC to light or average users if it's on sale. Currently it's sitting at $719 on bestbuy.com, which is more than I'd be willing to spend.

    Great PC - Meh Keyboard

    CrKeehn

Let me lead off by saying I love the computer. I'm not a gamer, I just needed a computer for general purposes; email, web browsing, streaming and some word processing. This PC has more than enough horsepower for my needs. It's fast and responsive, with the SSD, booting the PC is incredibly fast. I've connected it to my television with an hdmi cable and the graphics are incredible for my purposes. It did take a bit of adjustment to take care of overscan but that was the television and not the computer and the adjustment was applied only to that specific hdmi port. I am using the wifi to connect to my network and the wifi is awesome. Although the gateway and pc are on different floors, the computer is able to connect easily to the gateway and takes full advantage of the dual band ac gateway, the speeds are incredible and the connection rock solid. Now the keyboard. The keyboard is a very odd size, extremely narrow and with the keys a nonstandard size. I just couldn't use it for typing without constant errors and miskeys. I had a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse with my old computer and I switched out the HP keyboard for the Logitech one. Frankly, the poor HP keyboard is the only reason I downgraded what would otherwise been a 5 star review.

OHHH, and because I already hear you all out there going... get a new Power supply. You cant, its a HP Proprietary unit that they do not make anything more powerful of. I know 4 days 30 People and a hug pain in my ...... talking to hp has let me know. Ok, So The thing is a ok streaming computer and I use OK lossly. first off the thing is way under Powered for what they put in it to start. After Running bench mark Test on it for over a mounth and using it. I have found that if you hook up more than 3 Externals to it with out a powered USB HUB. the computer has issues starting up. the video card will not run at full power because the Power supply is way to small 180w lets you run the computer but nothing else. Even though the thing Has places for more stuff inside. You cant even get a sata hard drive to load. Let alone use the PCI 16x slot for a video card. Bench mark test so that this computer while running World of warcraft on graphic settings 4 uses all available power and you can still only get 15 to 20 fps. will not even load pubg at low setting with out glitching most of the time and that was with it right out of the box. nothing but pubg installed. This computer Only has one saving grace. The Processor is socket. so I can just use it to move to a new mother Board. where i will just need to buy a new case and Mother board, On top of the 700 plus for the computer, 250 plus for video card, and 160 for the ram chips I got already. But hay, the add and sales people all said this was upgrade able and a great intro gaming rig. LOL :(((((( Over all if you need this to do anything big time, Gmaing, editing, recording. This is not your computer.

my last computer was a dell and it lasted me 10 yrs before slowing down on me. It was hard to shop for a new one. but after much research I finally decided on this hp. I spend a lot of time on the internet, working, playing, researching, and communicating. this computer keeps up with all of my needs as far as speed and storage are concerned. I store a lot of photos and documents and so far it hasn't slowed down or shown any problems with space. it boots up super fast and is not bogged down with software. I often have 10-12 tabs open at a time switching back and forth between them all and I really feel like I blink slower than it takes to switch between them. it is quiet. and the wireless accessories are awesome.I hate wires &this thing has virtually none. I would buy this all over again and I have already suggested it to a couple of friends.

I was not planning on buying a new computer until the hard drive died on my windows 8.1 machine. I did not want 10 since half of my programs would not run on it. And they don't. But I had no choice. Went with HP again as I have always gotten long usage out of HPs. It set up easily and I do like the pin rather than a typed password. It found my printer right away. But of course some things won't run and I did replace one but the other is not made anymore so that is history Oddly one very very old piece of software runs on it using XP SP3 compatibility. I was amazed and very happy! It has a different monitor plug than my other HP did. We had a cable here that worked so that solved that issue. All in all, it's a good computer. Very quiet, fast and does most of what I need it to do. I would recommend it.

Never bought an open box item from Best Buy before. Was having big time issues with my old PC, and driving the Geek Squad nuts with frequent visits and calls for problems that were popping up. Was told I might consider upgrading because of the age of my old dell. They Recommended a new HP and said I should check it out in the store. It was on sale but still a little more than I wanted to pay. Wen home checked on line, found on that was open box and certified for much less than the sale price. I ordered it, it came in the original box. Took it to the store and let the Geek Squad transfer everything. They did a super job, not loosing any files or pictures. Got it home, and can't believe how much faster it is than my old one. And the Solid State is so quiet, now whir like the old Hard Drive.

Best purchase I've made this year so far. I am not an expert in computer at all. When I want to buy a desktop I gotta do lots of research to have a generally idea of what is what =]] So for those that are amateur like me, this HP desktop has a SSD that simply makes things you do faster, I am able to turn the computer on in less than 30 seconds as well as turn it off in about 10 seconds. My computer at work took literally 4-5 minutes to turn on so this is super impressive to me. The wireless keyboard and wireless mouse are also a plus to this purchase. Although I did not know how to put battery in the mouse, I finally saw the instruction printed inside the box. Another plus is that it is light weight. Although the size is not too small, I can definitely tolerate that.

Excellent Desktop for 4K Video Editing

This replaced a older Core i3 that was a dog when it came to video editing. I wiped the machine of all unnecessary bloat ware and loaded up my Adobe suite and this thing blazes through rendering 4K video. No lag and perfect, smooth 4K playback. I load the files to be edited to the 128GB SDD then render/save to the 1TB HDD. I will be adding a separate video card (Radeon RX 550) to free up some RAM usage. The only issue I had was the keyboard/mouse lagged but this was due to the minimal range to the USB receiver. I had a USB extension cable and moved the receiver closer to the keyboard/mouse and the lag went away. Additionally the supplied keyboard is very small and hard to use. I will be replacing this with another wireless set.

Computer starts and re-starts VERY quickly due to the solid state drive. Processes run quickly and everything I have done so far is smooth and error-free. Chassis is light and fairly attractive and has decent connections available. Comes loaded with some bloatware like HPs do, but not terribly onerous. The wireless mouse and keyboard are convenient and connected without a hitch, but the whole thing feels pretty minimalist. The keyboard has a very limited footprint and the power supply is reported to be underpowered (which doesn't affect me) but everything works well. Then there is Windows 10... can't escape it, but it is a step down from previous versions for an office environment to me. Overall a good product, but limited in expandability and not super quality construction.

For years, we only bought All-in-one computers. They just made sense. However, after our Asus had some minor problems and we tried to go with some others and had no luck, we decided to give a tower a try. We got so much more for our money by going with a tower computer. This computer has handled every game that we’ve tried on it. It’s super fast and reliable. I do miss having everything I need in one device. Instead, with this we have to buy the speakers, mic, web cam, and everything else separate. But that’s totally ok. Well worth it!! I highly recommend going with a tower computer such as this HP over an All-in-one.

Originally I purchased a Dell but it was lacking some peripheral capabilities plus I was scammed by an alleged Microsoft office support person. In working with Best Buy management, they were phenomenal in allowing my to trade the new corrupted Dell box in for this HP box. I have used HP systems in the past and have found them reliable. The solid state drive is fast, boot time is quick, and I like the various USB, SD card, and Bluetooth support. Best Buy was excellent to work with in setting up this system too. It came with wireless keyboard and mouse. I was pleased with system purchase.

I have bought three of this same model PCs and on two of them I have had a Thermal Event problem. It is not constant event, It's a random error. I don't really want to return this PC because from the specifications it looks and runs really fast. However, that thermal event is something to consider. By the way, one of them I had to return and get a new one because it never turned on. Seems like the power supply was dead even before the first use. I don't recommend anyone to buy this PC.

Set-up was ok and start-up is very fast. Took a lot longer to load Trend Micro Security than I thought it would which made the set-up a pain. Looks great and so far is very quiet. The one problem I have (and still do after calling Best Buy and HP) is when the monitor goes into sleep mode it starts making a noise as if you are inserting and removing a thumb drive in the HDMI port. They weren't able to fix the problem only solution (after the 4th call) was to turn off that sound. I'm sure it's still doing it but now it's silent. Hopefully that isn't a sign of something wrong with the computer.

Best upgrade into new wireless HP computer has helped me better navigate the internet, make family videos, faster movie downloads and multi-task between different applications. It's practically silent, doesn't take up much space, keyboard is wireless, mouse is wireless and the thing of all it is Wi-Fi ready. Happy to have a computer that fulfills many technology based necessities.

We needed a new computer because ours was 7 years old and the power supply was starting to go out. This is a much smaller unit than our previous one, but it is much faster and has serveral new features. I'm still getting used to Windows 10 and its components, but my son is computer literate and he can help out us older folks. Finding apps and programs is easy using either Kortana or the start menu. The storage capacity is just right for us and my son's many computer games. So far, this is a pretty nice machine with fast startup and shut down times.

i thought that nothing could replace my former PC (which died after over 7 years of constant use) but i am actually thrilled with this new HP pc ! It was so easy to set up, a 5 year old could do it. And, there are not a lot of garbage advertisements and unwanted files programmed into it. Just a few quality things like Office 360 that one can look at on your own without any annoying pop-ups. Thank you for this beautiful PC ! *Lots of bang for the buck too.*

Nice fast computer with the SDRAM disk but I was frustrated that there’s little documentation on how the drives work. I had to ask 3 different BB employees who assumed that I could look it up. It was only after I went again that I found a guy who really knew how things worked and how I could restore my backup files to D drive (Data drive). Then there’s the other partition that is the backup but not a regular backup. Before buying it you can save yourself a lot of hassle by having someone explain how those drives work. Good luck.

Very very happy with this PC so far. Lightning quick, and very quite. I've been messing around with it with heavy usage and it still doesn't stutter. Plays all my 2.7K videos taken with my Galaxy S8+ without hesitation or lag. Transferred all my files over from my Galaxy SSD T5 and was impressed on how quick it copies everything via the USB Type-C port. I dont play and games and dont plan to, so I cannot provide feedback regarding that. Overall, this PC is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks,

This is my 2nd HP Pavilion in seven years. It's a smaller unit that delivers the same functions as it's processor. It runs so quietly you don't hear it. Very fast indeed. So far the one flaw I have found is the disk holder is a very awkward and flimsy design. I had to pop the unit's cover back on two days after purchasing the unit. This seams to the industries new standard to cut costs not just on HP's, but all brands. This is why I could not give it 5 stars. Maybe 4 1/2 stars would be a better rating.

I purchased this system for my husband for his office. He does enjoy this system and has no complaints. The only thing I would like to mention is that last week (5 months after purchase) the system suddenly turned off while we were out to lunch and when we returned we could not turn it on. We had to end up taking it to Best Buy to take a look at it. By the time we got there it was working. Never was able to figure out what happened.
