We have bought another one of these we liked the first one so much. They are light and comfortable to hold and use. The different positions all are useful and come into play frequently. It starts up quickly and runs everything I need quickly. The leather just feels great on your lap and in your hand.

    Impressive/Dynamic/Reputable Computer

This is long over due. I got this computer 2 years ago when I graduated when my MACBOOK Pro died. I had the MAC for two years and it was the worst product I ever bought. Given that I had bought it for grad school, it jus gave out and when I took the MAC to get fixed they told me it was "too old" and the parts were not easy to find (I had the NEW computer 2 yrs) and the parts were $800 and it the work had no guarantee. Needless to say this HP computer didn't even cost me the $800 and I haven't had ANY issues with this computer whatsoever. As a matter of fact, my sister and I have an HP thats lasted us 12 years and we STILL use it to store photos and videos. As such, HP has yet to dissapoint me. The computer is super thin, portable and the leather case is sleek/fashionable in design. I love the tablet function and the fact that it is also a touchscreen.

Not like a traditional laptop/tablet. It looks elegant with the leather; however, it will need a very good care of. Good battery, but the speakers are below average. I wish it has a micro SD card reader.

Cool Hardware but Not a Powerhouse

Short review- I appreciate the hardware and the flexibility that it allows. I do design work and really wanted to love this notebook, but ultimately it was too slow for more than basic use. I attribute that to the 8GB of RAM and the dual-core processor. Even basics like browsing in multiple tabs proved a little more taxing than a cheaper PC with better specs. This would be an awesome computer for basic uses, but even students will find its power limiting. Perhaps if it ever became available with 16GB and a quad-core processor, it would be worth revisiting. At the end of the day, it's a beautiful PC with tons of unique hardware flexibility that is just too slow to use effectively.

I bought this to use for work when it was on sale for $750 with the student discount- I use it as my primary support machine in a healthcare IT role. The battery lasts forever, it's light and feels well made and people constantly complement it.

Leather binding peels off. It's structurally poor!

While this laptop has great specs and generally works well (sometimes doesn't turn on when I try to power it up even though it is charged but is a powerful machine once on), the leather binding is awful! It seems like a great idea at first, fancy looking and sleek and the binding is what allows it to fold into a tablet that covers the keys, but the leather binding on mine started peeling less than a month after purchasing it. It is advertised for "student deals" but if you're a student who needs to put your laptop into a backpack, this won't be a good fit! I even had mine in the compartment of the bag meant to isolate it ("laptop compartment") and it couldn't handle to ware and tear. Whats better? The Geek Squad told me that since it is only superficial (even though I can see parts of the inside of the laptop) that I should just trim the peeling part and super glue it!

The laptop really reminds me of a notepad. It’s thin and light demeanor allows me to bring this to different meetings, where I can choose to have a laptop or tablet. I also love the way that I can write or doodle with this laptop.

I researched laptop computers for awhile and had chosen the HP Spectre for it’s performance and features. When I went to Best Buy to purchase I took one look at the Folio and it was love at first site. The Folio has the power you need and the features I was after in an amazing leather case. I was not fond of the way the tablet was used in the Spectre (folding the screen back) but the folio takes care of that concern with the flip down. I will agree the speakers aren’t great but they work okay and the battery life-while not as long as advertised- still gets me through an entire day without having to have the power supply. I have been a longtime Apple user (iPad Pro, Mac Air, and the iMac) but the Folio made me fall back in love with a PC.

I'm a computer nerd and rarely buy one, but with kids learning from home I needed something and did not have a ton of choices. This pc has be great for school...it comes with a pen and folds any direction you choose. My daughter constantly works out her math problem with an app she downloaded and the pen provided...she also loves the kids games these days and it has been able to handle minecraft and other games for hours on end. The battery life is solid as you would expect on a new pc. Hope it hold up. I did not think I would like the cover, but it gives you something to hold onto as opposed to the slick covers of most pcs.

Very unique leather cover on the laptop which encouraged me to check it out. The Spectre Folio Leather is an awesome laptop with great capability with its i7 core and 256GB SSD. The touch screen and pencil make it easy to navigate whether using it as a tablet or a laptop. Its quick, multi-functional, and a great price if you catch it on sale. The screen could be a little larger for the size of laptop it is but overall its a great machine with a very unique encasing.

If I would have paid full price for this laptop I’d have been heated. For $1000 price tag, the trackpad feels like cheap plastic. I’d go back and spend the extra $200 and get the 16 GB ram, sometimes there is a lag. Maybe I’m harsh because I got this as a backup to my 5 year old MacBook, which still outperforms this setup by a long shot. Ok for a personal computer but at this price range I’d pay the extra and get 16 GB ram, you won’t regret it.

The luxurious leather, attractive form factor and bright, crisp screen make this laptop a joy. I find myself electing to pick it up instead of my iPhone X even for casual surfing. The Intel chipset has no cooling fan but somehow the laptop runs cool regardless of duration of use... something my Dell XPS13 cannot boast. And we love the fact that its chassis is not cold to the touch thanks to the rich, top grain leather. The bottom line is we love this machine and highly recommend it.

I’ll start with the pros: gorgeous industrial design - the genuine leather and integrated components makes this a joy to use. Light weight, thin and remarkably fast. Easy to set up. So what could possibly be a “con” after such praise? It had a hard failure, meaning that after 3 months of extremely light use, it could no longer boot past its blue screen. Tried everything from online chats with Best Buy and HP, to in-house repairs at Best Buy then HP - all to no avail. Its integrated design has the ultimate downside in that the entire product has to be disassembled by a subset of HP experts who never got it going due to out of stock issues on the motherboard. (I had specially purchased extended Geek Squad care to prevent having to go back through HP for service.) After many months and my consistent follow-up phone calls, HP finally sent a replacement. But I’m so over this device now I can hardly bear to turn it on.
