Customers are impressed with the Spectre x2's keyboard, which is a notable advantage over the Surface Pro. The price is also seen as reasonable. Customers appreciate the long battery life and sleek design. The inclusion of LTE connectivity is also seen as a bonus. There are some concerns about the bezels being larger compared to the Surface Pro 4, but overall, customers are positive about the Spectre x2.

I am very happy with me decision to purchase my new HP Spectre. I needed a laptop / tablet for business and after an exhaustive search I decided to go with the Spectre. It's a much better deal than the Microsoft Surface. I like the keyboard better than the Surface, and I love the fact that it comes with a Verizon SIM card. The Verizon pre-pay service is great! Sometimes faster than WiFi.
I did notice that it sometimes has a hard time connecting to my Microsoft Wireless Display adapter.
I also wish the speakers were louder.
Overall a great deal!

I don't know what's not to like. Windows 10...amazing, Intel M-Core processors...sufficient, Hp sturdy stamped aluminum design....GREAT and Amazing. My 3 year has already dropped it down a hill at the zoo and all it got was a little dink in a corner and of course a few scratches, but it's a PCI-E SSD M.2 drive so no worries about glitches or losing data as on an standard HDD. Super fast and supportive for games. I still play WoW on this thing with better performance than my AMD with Radeon graphics, yes my AMD is 6 years old, but keep in mind this is just an M-core processor. Thank you Intel for stepping up your GPU Game. So who ever says M-core isn't enough is way wrong. Yes the Battery life isn't 9 or 10 hours but I get a steady 7 - 8 hours of normal daily use. Color is great, camera is great. Pen support is amazing. I love the pen response and draw capability. It is even able to read cursive and translate to print, but that's another Windows 10 feature. Kick stand IMO is better than the surface. I use it as a handle all he time which it doesn't recommend, but It works...lol! Type-c ports are 3.0 and super fast in data transfer. 3.0 only works if whatever is connected is 3.0 as well. If it is 2.0 you will only see 2.0 data transfer. Only down side is that I can't seem to get Bang and Olufsen to work on external speakers. It only works on the built in speakers. :-( Wi-Fi signal is super strong. Oh yeah and backlit keyboard comes standard. If you can get the M5 or M7 go for it, but I love my M3 Spectre x2. I take it everywhere and use it daily.

Best lower cost alternative to a surface pro 4.

Lets be real, people are probably cross shopping this with the Surface Pro 4. They are possibly thinking that they want a surface pro 4 but can't afford it or can't justify spending so much for one device. With that said, even that this is a lower priced alternative it hits all of the main points and is truly a great value. The keyboard is great and has speakers in it... best of all, its INCLUDED. The kickstand is useful because you can hold it in many different ways. The battery life is great and no fans needed so it operates silently. Performance is actually quite good and this has the same CPU and Ram as the cheapest surface pro 4. There are some negatives... the large bezels and heavier weight (not by much). The resolution is lower than the SP4 but that can be a positive because it taxes the CPU/GPU less and saves some battery life. The ports are USB C (not the typical rectangle A port) and although this is the future, most people aren't there yet and most people use type A... at least HP includes a dongle (Unlike apple who charges you for one). The Spectre X2 manages to offer a "Surface-esque" product built with the same attention to detail and luxury at a fraction of the cost. Do yourself a favor and take a look at the Spectre x2 when you are cross shopping the competition, you may end up like me and find something that checks all of the boxes and costs hundreds less.

I was looking to replace my laptop and iPad and was originally looking for a surface pro. However, when I saw this at Best Buy it was love at first sight. The design is super slick and the fact that you don't have to purchase the keyboard separate is a plus. The kick stand is one solid piece of metal that makes it pretty sturdy and the overall machine is super light. I love it!

Spent several months comparing iPad Pro, Surface Pro 4, Lenovo Miix700 and the HP Spectre x2. Love this HP Spectre x2 so far. In my opinion it is one of the best looking 2 in 1 on the market and meets all my needs and expectations. Looks similar to iPad Pro 12.9, has 2 USB-C ports and comes with the an excellent keyboard that has a metal front and backlighting. As other reviews stated, the speakers are a little disappointing but they do work fine. 2 speakers in the tablet portion and 2 speakers in the keyboard portion. If it had the same 4 speakers as the iPad Pro this would be perfect. When watching movies, if you do not have the keyboard attached you only have 2 speakers which are okay but not great. Also, with the B&O name on them they should have been much better quality in sound then they are. I also had issues with the keyboard not working when I took it out of the box and had to follow the same procedure found online for getting the keyboard to work. Have not had any further problems with the keyboard. As for the reviews stating that the kickstand latch was confusing, I really do not understand this as the kickstand works perfectly fine and all 2 in 1's with a kickstand will require 2 hands to pull the kickstand out (1 for the kickstand and 1 to hold the tablet). I also like the 2 USB-C ports and have purchased the Dell Adapter, USB Type C to HDMI/VGA/Ethernet/USB (470-ABQN) so I will have all the ports I need for both business and personal use. Not sure why HP does make this. They do provide 1 cable in the box to go from USB-C to USB-A. Have not purchased the Active Pen yet, but do plan to in the future to complete the entire 2 in 1 package.
I would recommend this to any of my friends.

I loved my Surface but after discovering ads and researching the HP Spectre X2 I had to have one. For the price I figured something had to give, but I was wRoNg! This 2-in-1 is one awesome laptop-tablet hybrid. First, the all metal aluminum construction gives the device the a premium look and feel that makes my Surface look as if its overdue for an upgrade. The aluminum keyboard, which comes bundled with the tablet, is a great accessory that's perfect for composing the long or short texts. The built in speakers help to compliment the side firing speakers on the tablet which aren't so loud, but are fine for viewing video at home. In fact I've found myself attaching the keyboard just for a better audio experience while watching video and movies. I was surprised to find that this tablet was released last year, and its seems to be one of Best Buy's best kept secrets, hiding in the shadow's of Microsoft's Surface product line. The embedded 4G LTE is perfect for on the go computing, and takes a few minutes to set up. Verizon even offers buyers a complimentary month of service with no sign up or credit card necessary. The table is sold for a slightly discounted price through Verizon, but actually was only $60 dollars less than buy the machine without a contract. So I would advise all to save yourself from being tethered to a Verizon contract, and fully own machine when you step out from the Best Buy store. While the new Surface requires you to buy the Type cover, the Spectre includes a much better keyboard, but you do have to buy the HP stylus separately. Although, the stylus is the same cost as the latest gen Surface pen, so overall you'll save with HP's offering, and you truly will get a better machine if an m3 or m7 processor fits your needs. The stylus, like the tablet is hard to find, so I placed an express order for mine through Best Buy, and pleased to find that the express shipping was only bucks. I'm thoroughly satisfied with my purchase and can't wait to try out the stylus with One Note, the main reason why I've grown to love Windows 10 so much.

Paid $490 or so after tax with the $450 price point, and at that price it's a WIN. I also have an LTE surface 3 2gb 64gb verison, which i paid $330 from Cowboom, another great deal, but buy the time I purchase the keyboard for that it would cost more than the Spectre and have less ram and storage. Surface 3 is smaller and lighter but Spectre is not bad depending on your needs. Surface you could throw in the bag with no problem and Spectre you have to sort of make space for it. I'd love to keep both but With a Surface Book i thing I'll keep the Sectre and send the Surface 3 RMA back to Cowboom (Now closed down anyway)
Overall, it's a quality piece of tech "at the right" price point, if you have Verizon and want LTE.

AFTER I updated the drivers for Windows 10, the tablet was fast and responsive. Ever so often, Windows 10 crashes the graphics driver and has to recover it. I LOVE the 4G capability, but NOT Verizon.
When I purchased this tablet, I was told it would be $30 for the Verizon data plan, which I thought was reasonable...UNTIL I RECEIVED MY FIRST VERIZON BILL!! When I contacted Verizon about the extra $10 monthly line fee, they rather rudely told me Best Buy FAILED to inform me about it, so it is NOT Verizon's problem. If I do not like it, I can always return the tablet.

3D Scanning Unleashed!
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The HP Spectre X2 (M3) was purchased with one single goal in mind... to test the new Real Sense technology for 3D scanning. For some years I have been scanning 3D images for printing using a scanner that was connected via a USB cord. I was looking for a Windows based tablet that could be used to accomplish the same 3D scans without cumbersome cables. And, I found it.
I have tested both the ItSeez3D and 3D Systems' Sense for Intel's RealSense apps. Both work very well. I've included an image that includes both left and right views of the 3D capture. The colors are somewhat degraded in the image due to some post-processing I applied for using the scan in a particular software 3D printing application. It's actually an exceptionally clean scan in my experience using similar devices.
ALERT: Best Buy offers a discount for activation and the sales personnel had a tough time finding the required MEID number. It's written in very tiny text located on the bottom of the kickstand, Knowing that will save you a LOT of time! :)

Lightweight and great speeds. This was bought to replace an older laptop. Selling points were that it was lightweight and could resist scratches. HP salesman that was in the store stated it could take a short drop, it didn't. Make sure you get the protection plan with accidental damage!

I really like the design and performance of this tablet, except for two things. The battery is weak and the tablet does not always enter hibernate/sleep when it should so I have had many dead batteries after pulling it from my bag. Also the stand is a little flimsy, i like how it can be adjusted to many angles, but it also makes it fold up on itself too easily. Also it is a bit difficult to deploy.

I spent over 20 hours researching this computer and comparing it to others! So happy I got this instead of the surface 3 or surface pro 4 with the m processor! The price was amazing, the included keyboard is great to use(much better than the surface) and it runs fast. Included lte is a better bonus!

This HP is a top contender when compared to the surface pro 4 core m3 version. Its the same computer, same processor, same specs, comes with a nicely designed backlit keyboard that feels awesome to the touch, and its 100.00 dollars cheaper. In my mind, this is a no brainer. Its very snappy on startup and loading pages, handles multi tasking with ease, and just an all around beautiful piece of tech. Comes with BANG & OLUFSEN speakers that sound very low on the default setting but can be tweaked when you access the equalizer and choose from several different pre sets or customize your own sound. I personally love this 2 in 1 and would recommend it to anyone..

An extra USB port, broadband-capable and better price for comparable specs hooked me. I've been using for a week now - setup was flawless and it's running well. Windows 10 takes a little getting used to, but I've found most of the features I liked in W7. Only downside - I ordered the supposedly compatible stylus from HP and it doesn't work - now trying to get a return.

I think people are expecting too much. This is NOT a Surface killer but for the price, it is a Surface alternative. There features I prefer over my Surface. I am a bit of a geek and a device freak so I have plenty of experience.
I own 4 laptops, 4 tablets, 2 desktops, 4 phones, etc.
First, ANY new computer is going to require lots of update downloading. My Surface did, my Lenovo did, my Samsung Tab, the list goes on. Complaining about having to download updates makes no sense. Would you prefer to keep buggy software?
I bought this regardless of the reviews figuring I could always return it. Well I will be keeping it and selling my Surface Pro.
I had the 13.3" HP which had a lot of downsides. Especially the fact that if you picked the screen up, the keyboard would detach itself. This is resolved and this KB stays on.
Pros:
Light and thin
Very clear screen
Adjustable screen stand
Keyboard is better than the Surface options (lighted and more natural)
Speakers in Keyboard make a difference!
Battery life. Yes! It takes several discharge/charge cycles!
USB Type-C. Use a USB 3.0 drive and it is FAST!
(Even on battery it ran my 1tb external drive!)
As above, no certain way charger has to be plugged in.
Processor is plenty fast for most of my needs
WiFi is better than it is on my expensive Lenovo laptop.
Cons:
USB Type-C (comes with an adapter but it's another thing to lose)
Volume. As with all HPs it stinks.
(Download DFX audio enhancer ASAP! You will love it!)
Touchpad could be better (I use a BT mouse so...)
Micro-SD slot,. You have to press a paper clip in HARD to get it out.
(It feels like you're going to break it)
I can't speak for the pen use yet as I haven't gotten that far but I will be soon.
That's it. I will try and update this review after a few more weeks of pushing it hard.

Bought this for my brother-in-law. He was looking for a cheap laptop. This device was within his budget and also is a 2-in-1, so we bought it. It is primarily used for online video streaming. It has worked well and been reliable. The only issues have been Google Chrome crashing...we've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but there are still issues with. There haven't been issues with other browsers.

This tablet had a lot of potential to be a surface competitor. Unfortunately, it is held back buy poor battery life and sub-par sound quality. I got about 4 hours screen on time, and this is especially disapointing when the tablet is running a fanless Core M processor.

This elegant device is amazing with an 8 second boot time! I carry it to meetings and use it to Remote Desktop to my office and it really performs. I loaded MS office on it and it's speed even with the lower processor class is fully functional with no delays. Performs exactly as I need and the price was very ressonable
