    Some issues

I didn't want to buy another Apple laptop. So I researched the newest wave of mac lookalikes and thought this would be a good replacement. I really thought I was going to love this Laptop. It's sharp looking, got a beautiful screen. The first morning I used it I literally couldn't see the letters on the keys. The keys are silver and the letters are... kind of silverish. No contrast whatsoever . Turning the backlighting on actually reduced the contrast in the light. And I found that under most conditions other than complete darkness, the backlighting was actually worse than no backlighting. And the backlighting is completely uneven, one or two keys are overly bright, several keys get no light and the rest get varying levels of dim light that under most conditions reduce the contrast between the letters and the surrounding color of the keys. The keyboard is a disaster. I've attached a photo of it and my wife's MacBook - Apple felt black and white might be a better choice for keys. I concur. Nevertheless, I thought I could live with that. Five days in the laptop stopped charging. Would say "plugged in, not charging." I returned it and got another one. Got it home and the Enter key was broken. Clearly HP has some QC issues. Took it back and got a third one. The next day I was using it to stream a live video presentation to 20 people via a hdmi cable to an 80 inch TV. Half way through I decided to plug the power cord in it. The screen went black, flickered, video came back after a few seconds - no audio. Messing with the audio options did nothing. Audio completely gone. Pretty embarrassing - all I did was plug the power cord in. When I stick the power cord in our MacBook nothing happens except the battery begins to charge - no flickering, no excitement . I returned it. I didn't want to buy another Apple, But I'm going to.

I really wanted to keep this computer. The design was sleek, it was fast, and had great specs. The qc from hp's higher end laptops has apparently accepted a ghost touch flaw (google it) for multiple generations of laptops. Buyer beware.

This laptop has a very premium look and feel, the screen display quality is excellent, but it has some serious issues like Overheating even when performing a normal update. Random ghost touch/phantom touch on screen which prevents you from moving the cursor. WiFi network connection issues. May be i received a faulty unit. But it was good enough reason for me to switch over to Dell. HP you gotta do better with your premium units.

Great machine with a few gotcha's

The size, power, resolution, versatility are all great on this machine. But I have noticed two issues. 1) It runs hot. Very small heat flow vents. Sitting on your lap will get quite uncomfortable. Suggest you throttle power if you don't need it for a given task. 2) ... and this is a biggie. When you get the HP it works fine in normal mode, but after the first MS Win 10 upgrade it gets an intermittent fathom "touch" to the the screen that renders the machine unresponsive to the keyboard and basically useless until you perform a full reboot. HP suggested turning off the touch screen and indicated that it had been reported to MS and they hoped it would be fixed in a not too distant release. Not a great answer especially for anyone that uses it as a tablet routinely. Frankly disappointed in HP for not having a temp work around. Apparently is is a well documented problem. the didn't offeer any "follow-up" so I guess I will have to try enabling it again every once in a while to see it the issue has been resolved. Again, not a great solution. I ended up buying 2 of these over black Friday at a great price, but will have to return if the latter problem is not resolved in a reasonable time.

I loved the design and function, but it ran too hot. It was uncomfortable to use as a laptop due to the heat. I returned it.

I was excited to purchase this computer, I did not read any reviews because there were none available at the time. The computer setup and worked very well but the display had yellow areas that would migrate from 2 or 3 locations. I did a search and found that other's have had this problem. I tried to fix but got frustrated so I returned the computer to the store. When I tried to clear my history / user information the computer would not restart and instead kept giving me an error message and would not reboot. I think it was a good decision to return to the store, there is no telling what trouble I would have had in the future. I had the computer for 16 days before returning. The yellowing of the display did not occur until about day 12.

Bought this laptop to replace my 5 yr old HP. Read many reviews and decided on the Spectre. Bought more memory/bigger drive than I needed thanks to a great Black Friday sale. Unfortunately, the laptop that I thought would blow away my old one for speed is actually freezing up all the time. The only way I can unfreeze it is to shut it down and try again (cntl/alt/del doesn't even work!) VERY disappointed and I think I will be visiting the Geed Squad with this one. I hope they can help!

I buy this laptop expecting to be fast and use multitasking, but it keeps freezing when I have few tab opened of Internet, Microsoft words and other applications running at same time. Had a surface pro 3 and I did run the application and never crash!

Returned to the store twice. Ultimately returned the device because after upgrading to windows 10 pro the device kept having boot issues and disc issues. Stop being able to boot into windows so it went back for good.

    Glamorous but faulty

My first initial impression after seeing and holding this product was "extremely impressed". The design, look, feel, and overall experience looking and holding it were very impressive. I read the reviews and it was 50/50. Lots of positives in the same category as mine (look and feel) but many cons in terms of battery life, over heating, hard drive malfunction, touch screen and touch pad malfunction. I thought I would take a gamble because my old laptop was an HP and it is now 12 years old and is still a beast. I was so happy with the former product I thought I would stay loyal to the company. I cant tell you how excited I was when I got the computer and unwrapped it. unfortunately the bad news set in immediately. Upon initial startup the touch pad was not working. After getting through the initial setup of the computer, the touch screen began to malfunction (ghost clicking insescently). I had to restart. Second start touch screen worked but still not the touch pad. I used HP support online to help delete and reinstall a new touch pad driver. This solution took over 1.5 hours to solve and worked for 5 minutes. Almost immediately after closing the support chat window the ghost clicking started again and I couldn't even get to the windows menu to shut down or restart. I powered down with the power button and restarted... the touch screen worked again but still not the touch pad. I revisited HP support for a fix and they did the same fix (driver update). we then did a BIOS update and immediately after that finished successfully the computer died. It crashed three more times until on the fourth start it proclaimed that there was no longer an operating system or even a hard drive. I was astonished - I couldn't believe it. I should also mention that while we were problem solving I noticed my battery life had dropped almost 30% in 30 minutes or so. Even the tech saw it drop quickly and remarked that it seemed a little fast for a brand new computer. At this juncture I was on the phone with tech support and they had been disconnected from my PC. I was reading them the prompts on my computer and we tried 3 or 4 more fixes and there was no success. The problem was deemed unsolvable by phone and I was instructed to send it in. No thanks - that is proof enough for me to move on to another product. There were enough bad reviews similar to my experience that it is clear that this product's quality assurance is just not there. How can you sell a product for $1000 and not have it function? That is a lot of money for me and I expect a lot in return. I will likely move to the similar lenovo YOGA, or Asus Zenbook. Best Buy has accomodated an easy return for the disfunctional Spectre. HP support staff were great. So is the design and manufacturing team. However clearly there is room for improvement in the engineering and hardware/software department. I have heard that the new Spectre doesn't even have a touch screen... I wonder if this is a response to the poor performance of previous models touch technology.

Beautiful, but HP hardware and Support is faulty

Computer looks great, keyboard has great travel and no weird key placements. Everything seems to work great. I used HP support to get a recommendation on which stylus to buy - they said get the HP Active Stylus. It didn't work so HP chat support started to install new drivers, etc - they ended up disabling my touch screen. When I tried to refresh the drivers, or reinstall the new BIOS, it still wouldn't work. So I was told to Reset the PC - meaning go back to the beginning and have to update all my settings and reinstall programs. This didn't work. Another hour on chat support and they said I would have to send it in to be repaired - with no loaner PC. So I'm out of a laptop for two weeks and it is only a month old. Shoddy craftmanship.

    Touch Screen Malfunctions!!

I purchased this for business use. This model of the HP Spectre x360 is premium priced because of the added features - namely the touch screen. Unfortunately, I have not been able to use the touch screen functionality because it malfunctions as soon as it is enabled - the screen acts as though it is being used and begins opening, closing and minimizing windows, programs etc. It occurs randomly and cannot be replicated "on demand". When HP Customer Service was consulted, their solution was to disable the touch screen... so I cannot use the feature that was the primary reason for the premium price. I purchased Geek Squad protection, so I'm hoping Best Buy has a viable and fast solution, because I depend on my laptop to run my business. It is really too bad the screen doesn't work properly because the machine is pretty good, but definitely not worth the price based on the issue with the screen.

    Nice Laptop but Screen Problem

Great service from Best Buy, arrived quickly. Laptop looks fantastic, very fast. BUT screen has a problem out of the box and seems there are many similar stories on YouTube. Bottom left of touchscreen activating rapidly like it is getting and input / touch. HP support ran through a few diagnostics, check up to date BIOS etc then said they will send a box for it for screen replacement and didn't seem surprised. Will be taking back to Best Buy this afternoon for replacement.

    Short Battery

I returned this laptop because the battery drains very quickly, it didn’t last more than 5/6 hours in saver mode (screen bright 50%), wifi and Outlook. 6 hours was far away of the 14 hours advertised and furthermore, the CPU was too hot. The notebook is really nice but battery and CPU changed my mind and I returned to MacPro.
