A portable AC Unit that does the job

I've been trying out this Insignia portable air conditioner, and I wanted to share my thoughts, especially if you're looking for something to beat the heat without a complicated setup. Right out of the box, getting it up and running was pretty straightforward, which is always well welcome in my book! It definitely does a good job cooling down a smaller room, like my kids bedroom, and I found it made a noticeable difference pretty quickly. The price point is also really attractive for what you're getting. I'd say it's not whisperquiet (you'll know it's on, especially when it's really working hard) and it's got a bit of heft to it if you're planning on moving it around a lot, but the wheels do help. For the cooling power and convenience in its category, though, I think it's a solid little unit, especially if you catch it at a good price; it's been a welcome addition during these warmer days!

It seems to work but the product definitely wasn’t new. The parts in the box had all been open and the vent cover was cracked. Disappointed.

Usually, before I make a big purchase, I do a lot of research. I’ve never had a portable AC before so it’s pretty hesitant to buy one due to others reviews. When I received my AC, it was very easy to put together and install into my window. My main purpose was make my room cold enough for my dog during the summer. Thankfully the ac performed beyond its expectations. My bedroom felt like ice and my dog was more then happy and not once seemed to be bother. I loved the fact that there was a remote so I didn’t have to get up every time I wanted to change the setting or turn it off. My room is pretty small compared to the other rooms in my house. It does fight a queen size bed and big dresser and big vanity and two night stands. Not sure of the square footage but it does great. They best part is you can literally take off and move it to other room with such easy and you don’t even have to care it because it has wheels. I definitely recommend.

    Cooling a perpetually hot office

For years I suffered with the head that my gaming PC/work setup gave off. I bought little swamp cooling devices and had fans in the room, but it essentially just pushed the air around. It got so bad that I would straight up choose to work in the loud living room rather than sitting in the office in the summer. Eventually, I had enough. All of my tech was in that room and I needed the comfort and quiet of the room for my work calls. Well, this portable AC fixed one of those issues, but actually made the other worse. For starters, the room - it's a small offset room from the main bedroom. Think of it as a sitting room that is about 1/4 the size of the master bedroom. It has a window and opens horizontally. I was always hesitant on buying one of these portable ACs because of the vent that needs to connect to a window. I thought the horizontal opening window would be a problem but it absolutely was not. It works great and was incredibly easy to install. As for the cooling - it works! The office is now one of the most comfortable rooms in the house, even with my monster gaming PC that has a 4090 in it. It's essentially a PC that moonlights as a space heater when under heavy load. The unit was incredibly easy to set up, is small enough that it fits nicely under the window and the vent outside isn't unseemly enough that the HOA has said anything, so there's a win there. The one thing I do not like about this device, and I think it's just the nature of the beast, is the noise. This thing gets LOUD when it's cooling. So loud that I have to turn it off on work calls or wear noise cancelling headphones. I'm sure it wouldn't be as bad if it was further away from me, but the window and my desk are close to each other and I'm constantly turning it off and back on with the remote provided. It's not a deal breaker by any means, just something you need to know about. The noise isn't going to wake a sleeping baby, think of it more as a constant background noise that drowns out other noises. Honestly, if my kids were still babies - I'm sure it would work as a wonderful cooling device with a built in sound machine. So, should you get this? Absolutely. We have had it about 6 months now and it's still going strong. Cat jumped on the tubing that feeds to the window and we thought it broke the tube but it only disconnected it. Easy to put back in without any additional parts needed. We love it and it's been a game changer for my office at home.

Absolutely thrilled with the Insignia™ 250 Sq. Ft. Portable Air Conditioner! This compact unit has transformed my home office into a cool haven during Florida's sweltering summers. Installation was a breeze, thanks to the intuitive setup and included window kit. The remote control adds convenience, allowing me to adjust settings without leaving my desk. What stands out is its efficient cooling performance—it quickly brings down the room temperature, making workdays much more comfortable. While it's slightly louder on the highest fan setting, the noise is a small trade-off for the comfort it provides. The built-in dehumidifier is a bonus, effectively reducing humidity levels. Overall, this air conditioner offers excellent value for its price. If you're looking for an affordable, effective cooling solution for a small space, I highly recommend the Insignia™ 250 Sq. Ft. Portable Air Conditioner.

I've been using this AC unit in a 150 sq. ft. office packed with multiple PCs and 3D printers, and it handles the heat like a champ. Despite being rated for up to 250 sq. ft., it cools my smaller space very quickly — the room can get downright freezing if I let it. It’s especially helpful in the Arizona heat. Noise-wise, it can be a little loud at times, but nothing too distracting or unacceptable. The only real drawback is the short 5-foot exhaust hose, which I solved by adding a Havoc vent extension — a worthwhile fix. Overall, for the price, this unit performs exceptionally well. It’s powerful, reliable, and absolutely essential for keeping my workspace comfortable. Highly recommend for small to medium rooms.

I've had the item for about two weeks. I use it for my room and it works well. It cools my room down enough for me to get cold. It was easy to put together, it fit my window perfectly. I don't have any complaints so far. If I had any critiques, it would probably be that it is a little loud, which I don't really mind but it is something to keep in mind if you don't like too much noise.

I bought two yesterday. I expect my electric bills to be outrageous, but we have 100 degree days coming this week and there's no way my kids would survive it. Set up was relatively easy, although the adhesive weather stripping it came with is way too unforgiving. It was hard to place because it sticks to your fingers and rips, and whatever it sticks to, it doesn't let go. This isn't ideal for out windows. They're old and different that most modern windows so it took some fussing to get the window just right and there are still gaps. I will probably replace with a kit from a home improvement store. Overall, it did quite well with cooling down the rooms, except in both rooms, both under $250 square feet, it never really did quite come all the way down to the set temp on "Follow Me" mode., but it was only 2-3 degree difference. The instructions don't quite explain what "auto" mode does and it doesn't seem to work the way I thought it would. Neither were put on the timer or sleep mode and in the morning, both were off with the LEDs still on, and I was under the impression the fan would stay on. It also wouldn't restart pressing any buttons, so I had to turn them off and then back on to make them run again. I wish it had more consistent features that worked the way it's expected, or explanations of how they are supposed to work. I'm hoping they'll both work well enough to keep these two 2nd floor bedrooms cool enough to survive this week. We did not use the screws at all because we would like to be able to open the windows on days when cooling isn't needed. My only big complaint is that the window vent is supposed to be set up to one extreme side of the window, while the vent from the back is offset enough to make that difficult in spaces that doesn't have room to move it more one way or the other. It would have made more sense to design the window plates to either side of the window or the middle.

This portable air conditioner has been a reliable and convenient solution for cooling a medium-sized room in my home. The setup was simple, and the included window kit made installation straightforward. It cools the space efficiently and offers several useful settings, including adjustable fan speeds and a timer. The remote control also makes it easy to operate from across the room. While it does produce some noise while running, it is similar to what you would expect from most portable AC units and has not been disruptive. Overall, this unit has been a practical and effective way to keep my space comfortable during warmer weather in Northern Cali where most homes don't have ac.

In a small room, I feel this would be amazing. However on extremely hot, humid days you would not feel this unless you are directly in front of it. The air it blows out is cold, but the range is awful. I love the swing mode but I feel it doesn't help the range as much as I thought it would. It's stronger if you put on the fan while on cool mode but still doesn't help range much. It's not as loud as I expected based off reviews, seemed pretty normal. real compact and nice. I would recommend it for those who have small bedrooms, not for a living room. It was real easy to set up too.

The set up is really easy and it looks nice from outside my apt. It cools my living room and kitchen. (My whole unit is just under 800 sqft) It’s not loud, unless the sound similar to a regular fan bothers you. Overall , I am happy with the purchase so far and hoping it will last at least 2-3 years.

Works decently good needed it to fit my small window that has a small opening. Other window ACs did not work. Takes a minute to get cold but definitely works. Don’t for get to drain it every now an again with will either spill water out the back or wake u up 3am beeping and blowing out warm air. Overall good product.

    A Portable Lifesaver in Summer

I recently started using this portable air conditioner, and overall, it has been a great solution for staying cool, especially during the peak of summer. Performance & Cooling: The cooling power is impressive for its size. It’s not as strong as a central AC or a large window unit, but for small to medium rooms, it does the job well. I noticed the room temperature dropping within 10–15 minutes, which makes it perfect for bedrooms, offices, or small apartments. Portability & Design: The unit is lightweight and comes with caster wheels, so moving it around is very easy. I’ve been able to roll it from the living room to the bedroom without any hassle. Its compact design means it doesn’t take up too much floor space. Noise Level: It’s not whisper-quiet, but the noise level is tolerable. On low fan mode, it produces a soft hum that can even work as white noise at night. On high mode, it’s louder but still manageable. Installation & Setup: Setup was straightforward. The included exhaust hose and window kit made it easy to install in less than 10 minutes. No special tools were required.
