I picked this up during a sale as an open-box unit in excellent condition for about $80. It looked nearly unused, but I quickly understood why it might have been returned—my unit makes a noticeable screeching sound when it shuts off after reaching the set temperature.
Since I’m only using it in the den and not the bedroom, it’s not a dealbreaker. For $80, it does the job and provides some extra cooling where I need it. Plus, with Total Tech, I have peace of mind if it develops issues later.
That said, I wouldn’t recommend paying full price. But if you find it on sale and just need targeted cooling for a smaller room, it’s a decent buy.

I recently purchased the Insignia™ 250 Sq. Ft. Portable Air Conditioner in White from Best Buy, and I must say it has been an absolute game-changer during these hot summer days!
Firstly, the installation process was a breeze. The included instructions were clear and easy to follow, and I had the unit up and running in no time. The portability of this air conditioner is a huge plus; I can move it from room to room effortlessly, ensuring every corner of my living space stays cool and comfortable.
The cooling performance is excellent. Even in a large room, this air conditioner manages to keep the temperature consistently pleasant, and the adjustable fan speeds allow me to customize the airflow according to my preference. I've also noticed that it doesn't make much noise, so it doesn't disrupt my work or sleep.
The design is sleek and minimalistic, seamlessly blending into my home decor. The white color is a nice touch, giving it a clean and modern appearance.
Moreover, the Insignia™ air conditioner has various helpful features, such as the programmable timer, which allows me to set it to turn on or off at specific times, helping me save on energy costs.
In terms of maintenance, the removable and washable air filter is convenient and keeps the unit running efficiently.
Overall, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The Insignia™ 250 Sq. Ft. Portable Air Conditioner in White is a fantastic addition to any home, especially during the scorching summer months. If you're looking for a reliable, powerful, and easy-to-use portable air conditioner, I highly recommend giving this one a try!

This Ac is the best one I've seen so far! It does so many things such as comes with a remote that allows you to move the ac fan up or down in whichever direction. Has a timer, allows you to turn off the blue light LED light if needed while its still on. Also has many different options. It fit perfect on my long window and it will beep when it needs to be emptied, haven’t needed to yet. I love it so far and gets my room COLD while it being 105 outside. Great purchase also its not to big and not to small & has wheels

This portable AC was perfect for my studio apartment. It was easy to configure the window seal and setup. I thought it was potentially noisy to my downstairs neighbors, so I rolled it onto a rubber mat and it quieted. Even on the mat it was easy to move around and adjust. In usage it was never too noisy, even when directly next to it. It cooled my apartment down pretty rapidly and impacted my energy bill less than anticipated. I have not yet needed to use the dehumidifier function. Very happy with this purchase.

I bought this for my bedroom because that room doesnt get much airflow and it has alot of windows which means the sun always heats that room up. I hooked this a/c up (which was very easy to set up and secure in the window) and within minutes, thr room was already cooling off. And it has a remote so you can adjust the temperature without having to get up.
Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. Would definitely buy again.

Nice size. Easy to set up. Super cold. A little bit noisy when compressor turns on. But, quieter than the old window air conditioner that it replaced. I do love the pricing and quality of Best Buy's store brands.

Picked this up as a temp solution while HVAC was getting repaired. 2 weeks use before the HVAC system was fixed but when I say this little unit pulled us through... it's an understatement. It worked so well, I got 2 just for GP. Easy to instal, has a remote, and gets cold cold cold. Paid just over 20% of the original cost, but it looked and worked just like new.

Rough Start, Happy Ending

I'll start with the happy ending. This unit is doing its job, and doing it well. I'd heard that portable units are inefficient and not worth the money, but I needed something other than a window unit, because my windows slide horizontally. I decided to overcome my hesitancy and give this Insignia a try. Since it was recommended for rooms up to 250 sq feet, I figured it should have more than enough cooling power for my 175 sq ft bedroom. On the day I got it up and running, the temperature in the room was 77 degrees. I set the desired temperature to 68 degrees with the fan on high. I then left the room and closed the door. When I came back in an hour, the temperature had dropped to 72. So far, so good. But then I noticed that the exhaust hose was very warm to the touch, and was therefor radiating HEAT. Did I find the root cause of complaints about inefficiency? This was definitely a major problem, but I quickly thought of a solution. I shut the unit down; detached the hose; and wrapped it in an emergency survival blanket. As luck would have it, the mylar blanket I had in my First Aid kit was the perfect size to completely cover the length of the hose, and provided 4-5 layers of insulation. (I used small pieces of duct tape in spots to secure the layers while wrapping.) When the unit was turned back on, I could feel NO heat whatsoever radiating from the exhaust hose. Problem solved.
Now, about that rough start. The instruction manual was pathetic. At least it was written in good English, and the English manual was totally separate from the Spanish. But the illustrations of the "window slides" (panels) that needed assembly were basically useless. They showed only the outline of their shapes, with no mention of other distinguishing characteristics. Two of the slides look identical in the illustration, but they're actually constructed quite differently. The assembly instructions refer to these slides as "B" and "C," but there's NO way tell them apart. It would have been nice if the manufacturer had "branded" the letters onto the back surface, or identified them with stickers. Since they didn't, I had to spend a couple of frustrating hours trying to solve the puzzle. The process would have gone more smoothly if not for another problem: the "bolts." These so-called bolts are tiny, and made of soft plastic. They're optional if you're installing the window slides horizontally, because they can just rest on the window frame. With my vertical installation, I needed the bolts to attach the slides together and hold them upright. There are holes on both sides for the bolts, so to attach 2 slides, you'd need 4 bolts, right? But only THREE were supplied! My slides were wobbling all over the place, so I ended up pulling out all 3 bolts and attaching the slides with metal screws. Mission accomplished!
If I could rate this product on cooling only, I'd give it 5 stars. I was tempted to take away 2 stars for the horrors of assembly, but decided that would be too harsh. So if it's wicked good cooling you're looking for, go for it! And if I could face the challenge of assembly and succeed, so can you!

This portable AC is a bit loud, but honestly, for the price and the cool air it pumps out, it was totally worth it. It kept me comfortable all summer when things got unbearable. If you’re looking for an affordable way to beat the heat, this does the job.

I was hesitant to buy this portable Ac because all reviews can vary drastically. The local Best Buy had this available in store when the one on our wasn't cutting it. For the price it was the best bang for my buck.
Install went smoothly, with plenty of extra foam/sealant tape to help keep the vent stable at the window. The other bonus was how it can install vertically or horizontally.
Overall the unit is pretty quiet and has been keeping our room cool at roughly 73° while the rest of the house is hitting 80°+.
It can also work as dehumidifier or just a fan to circulate air.
We also bought a different brand off Amazon because it was cheaper by like $40 and we are sorely disappointed and that install required me to use extra materials from the Insignia to make the other portable AC sufficient.
It will take care of decently sizedaster bedroom. Probably not a whole living room. For us and the price we are g2g.

Works great and cools the space fairly quick—an office/guest bedroom 13’x10’ in about 20 minutes. It can be louder than expected but thankfully not much louder than your standard A/C window unit. It’s easy to port around on the same floor, but can be heavy and a bit messy to lug around between different floors—be sure to drain it before moving.

This bad boy is LOUD but will cool a good-sized room in just a few minutes. I was worried about my electricity bill after having it cranked for 10 days straight but the cost plummeted because I don't have 53 fans on now.
PROS:
-Cools well
- Low energy usage
- Multiple settings.
CONS:
- Heavy. A strapping young Best Buy employee helped me get it into my car at the store but I was on the struggle bus when I got home.
-Loud. Hope you like white noise.

This portable AC works fast and well to cool a small room ! It is a little on the noisy side and I have put it in “sleep” mode with the hopes that it would quiet down, but it does not. Set-up for the window was fairly easy (have vertical window set up) but I was only set 3 “pegs” for sizing of the window and needed 4.

I recently purchased the Insignia portable air conditioner, and I have to say, it’s been a real game changer for my home comfort. Living in a small apartment without central air can be tough during those hot summer months, but this little unit has made a huge difference.
First off, setup was straightforward. I didn’t need any extra tools, and it was ready to go in less than an hour. It came with a window venting kit that fit my window perfectly, which I appreciated.
Once I turned it on, I was impressed by how quickly it cooled down the room. It’s surprisingly powerful for its size, and I didn’t have to wait long to feel the difference. The temperature control is easy to use, and having a remote is a nice touch—no more getting up from the couch to adjust the settings.
One thing I really like is the different modes. You can switch from cool to fan, and even a dehumidify option, which is great for those sticky days when you just need the humidity taken down a notch. It’s also relatively quiet, which is a bonus; I can still watch TV or have a conversation without shouting over it.
There are a couple of downsides, though. It does need to be drained regularly, especially in more humid conditions, which is something I didn’t expect. And while it's pretty portable, moving it around can be a bit cumbersome since it's not the lightest unit out there.
Overall, I’m really happy with my Insignia portable air conditioner. It’s made my summer much more bearable, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an efficient cooling solution for smaller spaces!

Purchased for an upstairs office/guest bedroom. The room is small, and computers tend to overheat during the summer time. AC unit was very easy to install and does an excellent job in cooling the room down quickly. only reason I docked a star is because it's kind of loud. It's pretty tough sleeping with this running through the night.
