Saved Basement After Water Heater Fail - Grateful!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this dehumidifier to deal with water damage after our water heater leaked about 8 gallons of water in our carpeted basement. I needed something fast, and powerful to help assuage my concerns over potential mold, musty and moldy smells, and overall peace of mind that the issue was resolved. Since my husband is a steamfitter/ pipefitter by trade, he was able to replace the water heater, and use our shampooer and wet dry vac to address the residual water. However, the carpet felt soaked for the following two days and the overwhelming musty and mildew smell was extremely troubling since I knew that significant damage was already done. When I came across this little guy and the positive reviews, I knew it was a worthy investment to try before calling in experts. The price was surprisingly less than others with less power, and since we trust Insignia products, I knew it was the answer to our critical need. Thankfully, it was on sale during our crisis, so I even saved $50 off an already competitive price. I was extremely grateful. As soon as my husband set it up, it registered about 75% humidity. This little guy kicked on immediately and by the end of the day, had already filled with water. Prior to this event, our basement had a musty odor which we assumed was just the smell of a rarely used basement. However, since using this dehumidifier, the musty odor we had grown accustomed to is also gone. When I walk in our basement now, it is odd to not smell the mustiness any longer, but a fresh smell. There is no sign of mold (we treated all areas with strong hydrogen peroxide as recommended and continue to monitor the situation), so thankfully, no need to call in the expensive experts. This dehumidifier is also extremely easy to use for addressing the collected water. Though my husband has not yet ran the line to the sump pump for it to drain continually, my 11 year old daughter often goes to see if it must be emptied since she can do it by herself…(she just likes being helpful!) This now runs pretty standard and keeps the humidity at around 45% which is what my husband feels is a comfortable level. I am truly surprised at the difference this dehumidifier made in my situation and I highly recommend it to anyone trying to address a similar problem, OR, just to remove the musty humid air from their basements. I am pretty confident that if this unit eventually fails (it is worked pretty hard), I would replace it with the same unit because both my husband and I see the difference this has made for our situation and our basement, and we both love it.

Nice unit nice price
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great little unit, runs reasonably quietly and does a great job pulling the moisture out of my house. I have a central AC that runs mostly decent but it struggles to keep up on hot humid days. Supplementing with this dehumidifier really helps it feel appreciably cooler in the house. It does blow out some heated air, but it doesn't feel like enough to have a noticeable warming effect on the overall temperature of the house. Always blows my mind when I go to dump the reservoir and seeing all the water collected there, just from running for a few hours.

Straightforward and Effective
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this dehumidifier to reduce the amount of humidity in my apartment. It has not disappointed. I'm surprised at how much moisture it's been able to pull out of the air. It's simple to use: I just turn it on and let it go. It will automatically stop once it detects the moisture percentage reaches a set percentage. The container to empty the water is large and easy enough to remove and re-insert. My only complaint, which is something I've noticed on other Insignia products, is that the plastic over the buttons begins to bubble and peel after a short period of time (as seen in the second image).

Solid choice
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first unit stopped working after about a year. The radiator would freeze over after a few minutes. My replacement is working well so far though. I like this model because it blows the exhaust vent is on the side instead of the top, where dust can collect.

Love my dehumidifier
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been looking at a few options and the rating on this product made me take interest. I really didn’t want to spend more than $200 so I had been watching and hoping for a sale. This model came up on the “deal of the day” and I jumped on it. I’m very happy with my purchase so far! This model does have wheels for easy mobility around the house. I really like knowing how humid my house is with the indicator on the top panel. I haven’t used any of the timed features. I normally turn it on at night and it’s full in the morning. I live by the ocean where it is extremely humid so having a good dehumidifier is a must.

The only review you need if you are looking at rev
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't really understand any reviews positive or negative. Mine has been running for a week straight running straight into a pump. Not to loud. Not so quiet I don't know when it's running. Basement is less musky. Job accomplished.

Great machine and it really draws out the moisture
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am renting a small farm house and it is really musty smelling. The basement leaks every single time it rains. I bought two of these two use in this house on opposite sides of the house. Both of these machines really pull out the moisture. If I put them on continuous I have to empty the 50 pint bins several times a day. I have now changed to 50% moisture as I have turned on the heat, which is a monitor heater. I figure the heater will help with the moisture problem also. That way I don't have to empty the machines as much either. They both are very good! I have no complaints at all. There is a place in the back to put a hose for emptying into a drain or bucket, but I haven't done that. The front bin pulls out and has a very strong handle to carry it to the sink and empty it out. I just slide the bin back in and gently hit it to make sure it's secured in the machine. Then, it comes back on and starts automatically when the bin is reinserted. It is very easy to operate. I highly recommend it.

Keeps the basement dry
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this because an old unit died after a couple years. Takes care of the humidity problem in the basement. I wish we had a floor drain to connect a hose for the auto-drain feature because having to empty the bucket constantly is the only issue I can think of which goes for all dehumidifiers. The air output blows to the left of the unit and not directly up like our last unit did. Probably diesnt make much difference in the performance, but its something to note. Hoping this one lasts a good while.

Broken pieces right out of the box, new
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.New out of the box, the 'full bucket' sensor was broken and laying in the bottom of the bucket. The two cheap plastic ends were snapped off. I already had tossed the box into the smelly outside trash can and I wanted to avoid loading the whole heavy dehumidifier up and hauling it back to the store to return, when I really just needed a new bucket sensor. I attempted to get a new plastic sensor sent by contacting Insignia but she said I need to contact BB at their 888 number to get a part delivered to me. That's when I got caught in the vicious circle of NO real customer service. Just AI and auto options and when you call the store DIRECT you actually just get dumped back into the main BB number and it's not the store. 2 phone calls and one online chat that is only with a fake AI computer and not a human - and NO OPTIONS THAT FIT (and I had already contacted the manufacturer!) I just wanted a new plastic piece, not have to return the whole thing (and knew there was only 1 more at the store and it had had an open box, that's why this one was chosen). I've resorted to attempting to super glue the tiny plastic bits and hoping for the best.
