The 16' has a remote. The 8' section has an in line control meaning I would have to get on a ladder to change brightness or color. The ad gave choices of 16 or 8 and I assumed both were operated the same. I will find a use for the 8' strip that is easily reached.

Bought for accent lighting in the bedroom of our travel trailer to plug into an existing usb outlet. Works great! Color & lighting options are great. May get another.

This one is much improved in several ways - the control buttons have a more positive click, there are more color variations, and the adhesive is quite sticky. For the money, when it's on sale, it's hard to go wrong.

I will use smart plug and make it smart. An extra work but fun and cheaper.

I was going to put it on the back of my 4K TV but I decided to return it, and I got the two Blu-ray movies instead of happy with my decision.
