The fun of old displays that don’t have hdmi built in. This adaptor made it an easy fix to continue using my old monitors.

Simple adapter that does exactly what it's supposed to do. I have it running from a rackmount pc to an extra older LCD monitor in the rack.

Old monitors need not go to waste. Best Buy has adapters for all older "just VGA" adapters. Saves $$ in long run for other electronics.

Use this to connect an old monitor to a new macbook and it does a fine job at that. One thing is that it doesnot have screw holes to sometimes it separates if it accidentally pulls

Saved money purchasing the insignia adapter vs purchasing an apple adapter product. No issues, has worked great with legacy projectors and monitors for presentations.

I will presume you already know the difference between USB-C (fully compatible with USB 3.1) and Thunderbolt. I generally use this device, readily available off the rack at BestBuy, when connecting multiple video outputs to an newer iMac. (Or whatever you have that has multiple USB 3.1 outputs!) For projection video, this gives you the computer's monitor and 2 additional SVGA outputs to your projectors that, of course, may be mirrored, or may be configured as totally discrete outputs. There are more and more applications in need of separate program material for the rear (stage display) screen and the front (audience) screens. Or, you may need to broadcast, say, text on one display, graphics on another while allowing the operator an overview of the multiple projected programs. Anyway, you get the drift.
What I like about it: Plug & Play, works flawlessly every time (as long as your software is configured properly.)
What I don't like about it: There are NO threads to accept the shoulder screws on a VGA cable! Really? Most of the time, I have to remove the screws from the cable to get it to plug in, then I have to tape the male/female connection to keep it from working its way apart. What happens when the preacher gets boring and the guys in the booth start horse playing and inadvertently bump the connection and break the connection. Well, you know where I'm going with this . . . .
All in all, put the screw connections on it and I'll give it 5 stars.

It does the trick...it’s a dongle. I only wish that it still had the thread receivers as I worry about this getting knocked and popping loose.
