For the amount of money these and other vacuums now cost I figure it better do the work without me and finally it does! I love this machine. It is easy to use, maintain, and does exactly what you expect and then some. Does it get stuck sometimes? Yes, BUT it also announces that its stuck so you can go find and help it. Do you have to empty the bin everyday? Yes, takes seconds. Do I still have to vacuum behind it? NO!! Even with two dogs this thing gets more dirt in more places than I ever imagined! I haven't vacuumed since I bought it and don't expect to do so anytime soon.

I had wanted a Roomba for years. We bought the Roomba with some initial buyer's remorse because of the price and told ourselves if we felt like we could do without it before the return period was expired that we would return it. We have a low carpet in our bedroom, wood and tile in the rest of the house and several low and high rugs throughout, plus a four year old. On day three, we knew we were keeping it. Some reviews harp and moan about it not cleaning everything on a single run - that's not how it's designed. You schedule it for a reason. I purposefully let the floors go a week to see how well it would do. On the first day, it missed a dust bunny in a corner of our hardwood floor living room and I could easily see the dog hair on the runner. Day two, dust bunny was gone - nice job - but hair on runner was still there. Day three, hair on rug was gone. I caught it going on the rug over and over again to get all the hair! It was the coolest thing. It's been several weeks and our friends are amazed. I've never seen another dust bunny. I dust less because there's less dust. Roomba gets it. Under the beds where you can NEVER vacuum, Roomba gets every day. We love knowing that I can let our two dogs in the house and not have to worry about vacuuming the next day just because we wanted to spend some indoor time with them. Oh, and our four year old? If he didn't get a chance to clean his room that day, we just put out the virtual wall and Roomba stays out of his room. Worth every penny. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Works well on multiple surfaces (tile, laminate, and carpet). Pleasantly surprised at how well it works on carpet... Like to come home and see "the clean tracks", in the carpet... (a little additional evidence of the work being done, while we are out of the house). After completing it's cleaning cycle... It returns to its charging dock, to be ready for its next assignment (whether scheduled or initiated manually). *Especially helpful in minimizing pet odors.

Wonderful being able to set when I want my floors vacuumed! I just make sure all wires are out of reach and pick up anything that will be caught and let him do his job! When I get home, my floors are clean and I feel like wow I didn't do a thing but it looks like I worked all day!

I got this because I recently changed my floors from carpet to Laminate. I have recently over the past 3 years became very allergic to almost everything. I am 30 now and have a cat so making sure that everything is clean is very important now. When you have carpet the day to day particles and dust will sink into the threads of the carpet but with laminate or wood they just sit there and get pushed around. I hate sweeping and would have to do it everyday for it to be clean as my wifes hair and my cats are always everywhere as well as all other particles. I went out to home depot the other day to get the swifter jet to use on the floors and got some extra throw away pads to use. I spent around $45 for all this. It didn't make sense to me to spend all this when I have always wondered about the Roomba. I finally went out two days ago after reading all the reviews out there and made my decision. I used my BB card for the 18 month financing they have and got the 4 yr protection plan. Now for $600 it's expensive but I just finished my first cleaning here as I have a two bed two bath condo and the job it did was just amazing. I just cleaned the bin that everything goes into and it was filthy full of so much stuff. Don't let me forget to tell you that I had maids come over yesterday and all this stuff the Roomba picked up was in the last 12 hrs or so. I have set this up so it works everyday. I really can't say enough about it. I will hopefully come back later and do an update after I use it more and learn more about it. One thing I should mention is that it never actually made it to my second bedroom for some reason although it did go to the second bathroom. Anyways I would highly suggest this to anyone and everyone. It's pricy but your health is priceless and it will be so much better. Also if you have the BB card it's only like $30/month which anyone should be able to afford. So go out and buy this one. I'm in love!!! The pictures below show you what the Roomba picked up even after my maids come through, and no the maids do a great job :)

This little marvel was easy to set up and does a great job cleaning. I was a bit skeptical with its ability to remove dog hair from my living room area rug (the rest of the house has hardwood floors), but it did a fantastic job. I schedule Roomba to clean two hours before I get home and pick up all the dog hair that seems to be never-ending. Occasionally it gets stuck under a bar stool or up on an item I left lying on the floor. The best thing to do is “Roomba Proof” your home (LOL) by uncluttering stuff on the floor such as cables, books etc. I have to clean the dirt bin almost every day (which is easy) and the beater bar and wheels about once a week (again, no big deal). I personally keep it out of the bedrooms and bathroom (where it will vacuum the rug on the floor and because the rug is so lightweight, it bunches up and Roomba gets stuck between the rug and tub) and let it roam the living room, kitchen and dining room with no issues. I was one who vacuumed EVERYDAY and yes it’s a bit on the pricey side, but now I vacuum just the bed rooms and bathroom each week (pets stay out of those rooms). I would personally recommend this little guy.

I love this thing! Program the time you want it to run and it automatically takes off. I schedule it to run during the day when we are gone so that noone gets in its way. I first set it up to run during the night but it was so noisy it woke us up. It is too loud to watch tv while it is running. The bins need emptied and brushes need cleaned everyday - it's amazing how much dirt and fine dust it picks up in addition to dog hair & other stuff. It has a sensor to stop at stairs so it doesn't take a tumble and goes from area rugs to hard floors with no problem, however, it sometimes gets stuck on the plush furry bathroom rugs. It also occasionally gets caught on electrical cords and will eat small cords like phone chargers so I put the electrical cords next to the wall and make sure phone charging cords are out of the way. I'm not sure the lighthouses work. I shut the doors of rooms I don't want it to go into because the lighthouses didn't seem to do the job? Roomba is able to move small lightweight objects left on the floor, it seems to bump into things kind of hard. Dispite its downfalls, I love it picking up the dog hair & dirt tracked into this farm house everyday. I just bought another one for a wedding present.

My housekeeper comes once a month which is fine as I live alone and don't make too much of a mess. I have 2 cats, though, and their litter and fur spread exponentially through the house over time. The Roomba is great for touch ups. It's astounding how full the bin is every time I use it, so I believe it to do an excellent job. My cats (who are fascinated with it) and I have watched it very closely, and it doesn't appear to have a plan as it goes about it's business. It does seem to get the job done, though, in a round about sort of way. I've used it upstairs which is mostly carpet and some tile and downstairs which is all hard wood floors. My one complaint is that it won't go into my closet which is the size of a room with an open door or through the areas of the kitchen where I cook and are therefore the dirtiest. I don't know why that is. Neither area is obstructed with a door or wall. I can pick it up and start it in those areas, but it escapes quickly and never returns. Of my 2100 square foot house, that's about 150 total so it's not that bad. All in all, I like it a lot. I can schedule it to do its thing when I'm at work so I don't really care that it takes a while to complete a cycle. If it gets stuck, which it hasn't done since the first time I used it upstairs and down, I know it'll turn off and wait for me to get home and rescue it. The full bin shows me that I've been living with a lot of extra dust and pet hair, so it's good to have around. I honestly don't know if one of the lower priced models would be as good. I definitely recommend the product, and you may want to try one of those if the price is holding you back. I'm very pleased that I took the plunge.

I purchased the Roomba 770 to do the vacuuming I seldom did. The living room and kitchen are approximately 1300 sq ft and the 770 handles these just fine. Never gets lost and always finds its way back to its base. These rooms are hardwood and tile. However, if I forget to block off the bedrooms on the other side of the house it will run out of charge bouncing around in one of the bedrooms trying to find its base. One time it managed to closed the bathroom door on itself, that was a very clean room. We have Brazilian cherry floors and the Roomba does not scuff or mark up the floors. The programming function works very well. I have it programmed M, W, F for the living room and kitchen. The other days I drop it in one of the bedrooms and turn it on manually before I leave for work. You need to use the towers they give you to block off areas you do not want the robot to enter. This allows me to separate the house into two sections. The robot has been running non-stop since the first week of July 2013 and has had no problems. I did purchase the extended warranty just in case I needed it. You need to clean out the filters and brush every time you run it for the first month but after that it should only need cleaning about once a week. Spot cleaning works well but it is definitely easier to grab the broom and dust pan. You will need the remote to get it out from under the bed. If the unit cannot detect the base in a room it will just stop when it is done and it doesn't know it is under the bed. Funny thing, it seems to stop every time under the bed. The Roomba does not pattern your rooms and run in straight lines, it just bounces around willy nilly but it does cover everywhere about 3 times. If you want straight vacuum marks in your carpet look to the Neato. I will be getting another robot for the basement. I think I will try the Neato for that. House size; 2200 sq ft single story, 3 bedrooms, living room, kitchen, laundry room and one hallway.

I say with confidence that this vacuum improved my quality of life. The first floor of my house is all hardwoods. I was sick and tired of constantly stepping on things as I walk barefoot. I have no interest in vacuuming myself every day. This little gem runs every night and in the morning, the floors are clear and debris free! I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Just remember to clear the floor of electrical cords and small items. This robot will be your new best friend!

First of all, love the Roomba and run it every night. It does a great job of controling pet hair on my dark hardwoods and tile floors between weekly standard vaccuming routine. It handles thicker rugs with no issues. If the rug is a cheap, thinner model, it can sometimes be an issue for the Roomba getting sucked up and entangled in the roller. Battery life has been good on mine. It does approx 1000 sqft/ night and usually find it charging on the stand in the morning with a full catch bin. When it does have an issue, it can be a bit like easter egg hunting trying to find where it's hiding. We have developed a routine of going around and picking up anything that may cause an issue, as well as closing any auxilliary doors to rooms we don't want it to go. We back a couple chairs away from tables so it can get underneath with less obstacles. The machine is easy to empty and clean. My animals don't seem to mind it at all if it is operating when they are around. We set it for midnight most of the time, and wake up the next morning to clean floors having never even heard it working. It is very quiet aside from the occasional door bump. It doesn't "bump" walls at all, but on closed doors it does give a light tap before it realizes there is an obstacle. Overall I would say it was a very handy litte tool, especially if you have pets that shed. For us it takes a daily, sometimes multiple times a day vaccuming chore and makes it only necessary weekly for a deeper cleaning. We have been very pleased with this product.

We're really enjoying the vacuum so far. It's amazing how much stuff it picks up every time it goes to work which is every two days. It's nice being able to walk around in bare feet on the hard wood floors again without always picking up stuff on your feet. The only downside, which should be intuitive, is you have to keep the house vacuum proof, meaning you can't have cords down or any other items that could get wrapped up in the unit. It also gets stuck under the dining room table in between the chairs sometimes.

My husband purchased this for me to help since I am busy a lot I was hesitant that it would do anything but I love it! It will go over the tops of throw rugs that my upright always sucks up. I do once in awhile do a big vacuum I call it with the upright because of furniture and our stairs, but to keep the everyday mess clean its handy I will be cleaning and it will be vacuuming. The only time it gets stuck is under our wine cabinet which I do not understand it fits under everything else I have. You will see a little icon blinking on top when it needs emptied and that will fill up fast when you first start using it because it get s under furniture you never do Would recommend

If you have hard wood floors and low pile rugs, this item is a dream come true! We were having to sweep and dust mop every day befor our IRobot came to live with us. We have two dogs and a cat and we're constantly embarrassed by all the junk they dragged in the house, dirt, sticks and all manner of stuff. This IRobot comes out of its dock, sweeps EVERYTHING up, dust bunnies included, then puts itself away! We have it programmed to work while we sleep. Our friends can't believe what a difference it's made in the way our floors look. Why have beautiful hardwood if you can't see it because of a constant layer of dust bunnies and pet hair? Goodbye to daily sweeping FOREVER!!!!

This little guy really works! The first two times I used him, I had to empty the dust bin mid-cycle; but now, he cleans the entire downstairs (kitchen, den, dining room, office, laundry room, pantry, hall, and half-bath) in about an hour - and returns to his charging station all by himself. The dust bin is always full, so I know he is doing his job. I use the two virtual walls to prevent him entering rooms I don't need cleaned, and he traverses tile, carpet, throw rugs, and hardwood floors with ease. I had to raise the sofa about 1/4 inch using spacers from Loew's, and now he vacuums under the sofa and the beds - places where I rarely bothered to vacuum by hand. (You will be amazed and disgusted by what he sucks up under your bed!) He does not like yarn, so move your wife's knitting supplies off the floor; and he will occasionally get himself stuck and need help. He locked himself in the laundry room once by bumping the door closed, but if he gets stuck, he will sound an alarm and eventually turn himself off to await rescue. Our house is cleaner than it's been since we moved in. It is fascinating to watch him search for the edge of a wall and then run all the way down the edge to clean ... or work his way around multiple chair legs under the kitchen table. They programmed some very interesting logic to help him navigate almost any situation. He will bump your bedroom door lightly, though, so I use the virtual walls to keep him away from our bedrooms if he runs at night while we sleep. I love this little guy, and my daughter named him Bernie. I did buy the two-year Geek Squad protection - just in case.

I didn't know what to expect at first but I am glad I bought this little guy. when I started it up the deal breaker would of been not being able to pick up dog hair. pleased to say it picks up all the hair off my area rug and wood floors. I live in a apartment not a full sized home. so I can not speak for how it would do in multiple rooms or not falling down stairs. all I can say is it does a great job on my first floor living room and kitchen floors. the dirt bin will fill up quick but after awhile it will take longer to fill. due to the fact it runs every day. easy to do maintenance on brushes and filters. front bumper will get scuffed up.. but that's the price you pay for this thing doing so good of a job.

Easy to set up and do other chores while it cleans up room after room. Saves several hours of vacuuming each week. Much better on carpet than on hard wood, and will not get into nooks or corners, but definitely recommended for the price. The. 770 is a good level as the vacuum path is much wider than the lower models, and you aren't paying for style features that are unnecessary like iPhone control or room to room cleaning.

My wife and I both work full time, we have a large home with various floor types including hardwood, carpet and ceramic tile, have two dogs and two boys. In general makes keeping the floors swept and clean next to impossible without a full time housekeeper (not in the budget.) I had considered the Roomba a few different times, but had been skeptical. However after reading the reviews I took the plunge. AMAZING product. It cleans under the bed, under furniture (height dependent,) against the baseboards etc. and never once complains about how long it has been cleaning. Yes I have to empty the collection bucket occasionally (especially the first few cleanings,) and yes I need to maintain it by cleaning the brushes, but all in all SUPER. Well designed for home use, easy to clean and maintain, and just great. The schedule function is nice too as it cleans while we are away. Arrive home, empty the collection bucket, and I'm done. Floors have never looked better on a consistent basis. I am considering another one for upstairs, and a Scoomba for the hardwood floors. Lastly, I emailed Customer Support at iRobot and they responded, and followed up. Amazing stuff and super pleased.
