Customers are delighted by the Bluetooth connectivity, sound quality, and ease of use of this in-dash receiver. Many appreciate the affordable price and straightforward installation process. However, some users find the display brightness insufficient, particularly in sunlight, and the lack of a CD player is a drawback for some. The detachable faceplate is a positive feature for security.

Easy to install, affordable, customizable look. So far it is holding up well in my motorcycle. No, it's not waterproof, I had to take the precautions to keep it dry. Has more than enough power to be heard at highway speeds.
Only downfall I can find so far is, when you have the volume above 28 and the track changes (via Bluetooth) the Volume resets to 15 and there is no way to change or turn off this feature. Which means I need to take my eyes off the road to turn it back up loud enough to be heard at highway speeds. This would not be much of an issue at all in a car. When I am in town, 20 is more than enough volume to be heard.
I will be purchasing this same radio for my 16 year old daughters car as a giftsoon.

First time going backwards.. removing CD deck and putting non CD deck in lol!! But let me tell you, this deck is far more advanced than any standard CD factory deck. Especially out of a 97 land cruiser! Kenwood has always been a good brand in my opinion. This particular design has Bluetooth, so all the "bloat" ie ihart, Pandora etc.. is not necessary when connecting to a smart phone. I am a android guy, syncs right up when I get in the vehicle. Super easy to navigate functions. Comes with a microphone via hands free driving. BUT.... let me remind us all to be responsible while driving and not be distracted! Also comes with a remote..really see no use for it.. kind of like having a side burner on a gas grill! The microphone works well, no echo and very little wind noise.. can you hear me now? I would recommend this deck, I installed it myself. Just recommend getting the factory harness kit. Around 15 bucks, rca plugs for speakers easy to hook up. Or you can let the pros do it! Either way you'll be styling with some good tunes with this deck!

Use mostly for aux, usb, and bluetooth functions. Buttons for radio functions are pretty small so a little difficult to use. Display brightness is very distracting a night.

After over a decade with the stock radio in my Wrangler, I finally decided to replace it with a new one where I was able to get ALL the satellite radio channels. (my old radio only got half due to it being so old)
It can be a bit tricky to use. But the Bluetooth from the phone sounds great. No feedback when playing music via Bluetooth or USB. I also like the mic it came with for the phone. It was attached on the steering wheel by the installer.
I was able to take advantage of a Best Buy promotion for free installation, but they did knock me for $40 for the satellite radio install. Honestly, you're already back there and the radio is out, is it really worth $40 it plug in an additional thing?? I get it though, it's a business!
Overall I'm happy with it for the price. It also detaches so when I have the top down and doors off I can remove the faceplate and lock it up so no one steals it.
Lose a star for the $40 extra satellite install (whatever I'm salty)

Perfect car receiver upgrade for teen with old car

I bought the Kenwood to upgrade the receiver in my teen daughter's older used car. She loves it; great sound, AUX, Bluetooth, hands-free telephone and she likes how the illumination constantly changes color.

This (finally) replaced the stock AM/FM/CD in my 2005 Mustang. Ironically, I was going to buy a similar unit by JVC, but the Geek Squad associate suggested this Kenwood as a comparable unit with better specs and EQ. Being over 40 years old, it felt weird to buy a unit with no cassette/CD, but the plethora of digital inputs makes up for it! The AUX input and USB on front make for easy plug-n-play, but pairing a wireless Bluetooth device is easy. Installation was simple using the installation kit and wiring harness (each sold separately), but I found I needed the 1' antenna extension to avoid struggling in my '05 Mustang.
User interface is not intuitive and can be confusing. Be patient during initial setup and make sure you're not driving. The color of the LED display can be changed to one of a multitude of hues, but none of them are bright enough to cut through the glare produced by the plastic cover over the face of the receiver during daylight hours. They look great at night, though! The numbered preset AM/FM station buttons are fine, but searching and tuning can be cumbersome using the small oddly placed buttons. Lastly, the single power/source button requires you to press and hold it to turn off the unit. If you need it off quickly, you are better to just turn down the volume. Selecting an input demands that you cycle through each source, pausing briefly between each. Going from Tuner to Bluetooth audio takes a little while. Don't linger too long on Pandora or it just may launch the app on your phone!
When it comes to hands free phone use, I find it's easier to make and answer calls on the phone itself, rather than mess with the Kenwood's buttons and I am not the first person to lament the poor range of the supplied microphone. I have tried placing the microphone in several locations, but the best performance is had when I clip it on myself!
Like any product, you have to learn the precise idiosyncrasies of the Kenwood's operation. However, with all of this unit's capabilities and more power than the competition $99 is a bargain asking price. You'll invest a little more for the required installation parts and/or professional installation, but this compact in-dash receiver is worth every penny.

Bought the cheapest deck I could find that had an aux input, Bluetooth, usb charging, and color choice for the lights on the deck. Extremely happy with this purchase. I highly recommend it if your a first timer getting a deck for your car. Only downside is that because it's a discontinued item, bestbuy can only ship to your house and not ship to the store. Had to come back twice to a local Best Buy just to get told that they can't ship this item to their store but they can ship to my house.... But overall great pick up for 72.99

I have always been a Pioneer advocate until my last head unit purchase of a Kenwood. It has everything I need, great sound quality, and a lot of options that can be customized for my needs.
I love that I can "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" via the remote for Slacker Radio and Pandora, as well as change my streaming songs through the remote without having to have my phone in my hands. The Bluetooth feature is clear and cancels sound well. I'm very happy with my second Kenwood purchase.

I got this headunit for the display, the changing colors, Bluetooth and front USB, along with the hands free calling. I am not disappointed one bit with my purchase, it is a great radio, but that's Kenwood quality for you. And this headunit is such a good price for its features like Bluetooth and front USB, etc, while the Bluetooth picks up your device in just seconds from turning your car on!

Fantastic stereo! I bought this to replace the OEM stereo in my 1997 Chevy Blazer. I bought the harness and the adapters for the vehicle and installation was a breeze. The only issue we had was with the grounding wire. It interfered with the other wires even after it was connected with the electrical tubing and wiring. We simply moved it away from everything else.

I use this to play music off of my phone while I'm driving. I have to use the Bluetooth connection because the official Kenwood music app, which is required to link up through USB, doesn't work right on my phone (HTC One M8).
Other minor issue: there's no option to adjust the display brightness. I often find it too dark on most colors.

Really good car stereo with really great features (and lots of them). Bluetooth to connect phone is a great extra. The only downside is the color of the display which can disappear in the sun. Otherwise no complaints. I would definitely recommend to someone looking for a good car stereo that won't break the bank.

Was a simple Radio that worked flawlessly. Microphone worked well even when windows was down. No problems with bluetooth linking with phone. Very easy to install. The power was good for the stereo, it would be unfair to expect a booming sound from this price point.

We purchased this radio for our sons truck. It has all the features, plus some, we were looking for. Bluetooth, phone capabilities, programming, easy to use. Easy to install and the hardware to install it was not to expensive. Very happy with our purchase.
