Customers are saying

Customers recognize the high build quality and fun factor of the Labo Toy-Con: Vehicle Kit, frequently praising the engaging gameplay and creative aspects. However, some customers note that assembly can be time-consuming, particularly for younger children, and that the cardboard construction may present storage challenges. The price point is also a factor, with some finding it worthwhile, especially when purchased on sale.

only complaint is its 90% cardboard. Wish they were more sustainable but its a fun thing to build and use. Got them for $20 so can't complain about that price but normal price is pretty high.

The whole kit is very well made. The cardboard is really precisely cut and easy to pop out and fold. The game cartridge contains all of the instructions and you can go at your own pace building the different parts. The games that come with it are really fun and easy to play. I wasn't expecting much but this is well worth purchasing and exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend this.

These are cool little things that are fun to put together and see how they work. I got them it on clearance for $20 and it is definitely worth that price. Buying precut cardboard might not be worth more however just on principle...it is cardboard. That being said I would recommend for anyone that has younger kids that enjoy crafts and games as you get to enjoy both. Make sure they are old enough to follow directions and be careful though. You can ruin the cardboard easily if they start bending in wrong spots and stuff.

    Great Labo set

While my favorite Labo set would be the 01 Variety Pack, just because it has several great builds including the mini piano, this game has perhaps more content than the past sets. The builds are fun and take roughly an hour each, and I found to be really enjoyable. The build quality is great though I have a couple of complaints including the pull slider of the steering wheel how the part lifts up when it slides, but in practical use it isn't an issue. All the builds are smartly designed and fun to build and play with. Also it would have been nice to have some rubber bands pull the steering wheel back to a home position like other racing wheels, but as is it feels like driving a typical car especially with the HD rumble of the Joy-con. And make sure whoever plays has dry socks or considering the foot pedal may warp slightly, or simply devise some type of plastic covering for it. The gameplay is great and intuitive, and has a lot of Nintendo style and humor. Case in point you come across random shiny plastic toy characters from talking cows, cheerleaders, ghosts, snowballs, sumos, etc that bob around and give you various tasks on this fairly large variable climate island. As all of the builds give you new unique transportation some tasks require certain vehicles, and there are easily dozens of hours of gameplay here. The plane and car build are fairly intuitive while the submarine had the biggest learning curve for me and likely others. Some challenges alter the controls of your vehicle to amp up the difficulty for a few challenges. I have yet to try the two player mode, but it does require additional joy-con for a second player to arm a weapon. If you enjoyed any of the past Labo games or just want to get into it now with vehicles, I can highly recommend this pack.

First, let me say I'm glad this thing was getting mediocre reviews because it helped drop the price down to "dirt cheap" levels! This kit is FANTASTIC. The builds are fun, there's enough geeky tech used to communicate with the Joy Cons to keep even the geekiest users happy. The cardboard is really sturdy. It isn't the same cardboard you'd get for a shipping box. In fact, the cardbox can endure being painted without getting wavy, soft, or structurally unsound. It seems to take a beating without getting damaged. I do love the level of creativity it encourages. The steering wheel and pedal box does seem to work with Mario Kart, or at least that has been reported to me by some little ones!

    Best Labo Yet

This kit was packed with content! As usual, there are three sections: Make, Play, and Discover. There are also three vehicle kits to make: the car, submarine, and plane. There are also two "keys" and a spray can you can build. The directions to building the kids are very simple and easy to follow. The instructions also include cute little quips, adding some character and humor to the whole process. You can move the pieces around on the screen, allowing you to look closely at the models, which are also very true to form. The engineering behind the toy-cons are very ingenious--the pieces fit together perfectly and there are many steps to making them more sturdy. This kit includes more games than the previous two kits. The adventure mode is jam packed with content but there are other modes like racing, fighting, and decorating. You can also play with two people in certain modes. In Discover, you can learn how all of the parts work and there are moments when you can see from the point of view of the infrared camera. There are also some very basic engineering and physics concepts discussed, perfect for piquing a child's interest in STEM. Alongside the garage, where you can customize the creations to do different things, there is also a new mode that allows you to reprogram the controls for the games so you can play it differently. Overall I'd recommend this for anyone who really likes building things. It's a great activity either with kids or to do alone.

I just started building this kit with my 7 year old. It definitely takes some time but it's really fun to put together. The cardboard is high quality and the directions on the Switch console are awesome. All I can think about when putting this together is how long it must have taken this engineering team to plan all of this out. Definitely high quality kit from Nintendo. Just be aware, it is not a quick build. You would need at least 5 hours to just build all of the pieces but that's part of the fun. Can't wait to finish it and start playing the games!

This product not only provided quality time with my 10 year-old daughter putting it together: but had a blast playing the games with it. A bit pricey but you're not just paying for cardboard as some reviews lead you to believe. You are also getting the games (software) that this is used with: that has value. But most important is the time and interaction you spend with someone you like to spend time with. Priceless!

The concept of these Labo Kits are phenomenal and are very well executed. This kits is the vehicle version and the games that come with it are better than some of the other kits. The kits are great for my 6 year old but is rather lengthy and requires many sessions to complete. It is a good way for my son to follow detailed instruction, learn how constructing something, and then rewarded by able to play it.

The cardboard pieces are easy to remove and put together. Instructions are easy to follow for my grade-school children with no assistance from adults. The different games that come with the package are fun and interesting. You can actually connect the steering wheel for use in Mario Kart on the Switch!

Let me confess something, first. We've purchased, and built, every single Labo kit Nintendo has produced. I have a five year old daughter who loves to build things, and work on mechanisms and machinery, and these kits have been fantastic. Is this the best of them? No, the best value, overall, was the variety kit; if you're only getting one, that's the one to do. The best single game is the duel from the robot kit, but you'll need to either buy two, or buy one and print and cut (on thick cardstock) the (free) PDFs for a second, and either buy the (not terribly expensive) bag of string and cams and rubber bands for it, or cobble together the appropriate parts (those cams are gonna end up costing enough to make it not worth it), and you'll need a second set of joy cons, but if you do get two robots, you can do live AR rock-em-sock-em-robot battles, and watching a delighted kid go full tilt with that is a treat. This kit is... well, it's a lot of fun, but the motorcycle (excitebike AR!!!) in the variety kit scratches a lot of the same itch, so this one ends up being more for the build, unless you really, really like remote control racing games.

This vehicle kit for Labo is just as cool as the other Labo kits. The best part about this is that you can use the steering wheel to play Mario Kart 8 on the switch! That alone is reason enough to get this but you can drive lots of different vehicles in the game. I definitely recommend this to anyone who got the other Labo kits or if you want a cool new way to experience mario kart.

I bought this when it was heavily discounted ($20 instead of $70) and for the price I paid, this was absolutely worth the cost. The cardboard construction is very fun and smartly designed. If you are building this with young kids though, they might get bored after a few hours of building. The games included are really fun for a while, however just building these sets was just as fun as playing the included games.

My son has always been into building and is super creative. We've tried to limit screen time, but playing video games has always been a part of my life and something that my siblings enjoyed together growing up. I was so excited to see the Nintendo Labo series. I could do some real world building with my son and then make that work pay off with some fun mini games on the Switch and not feel super guilty that we are just staring at a screen mashing buttons. This kit in particular is great as we're able to build the controls for various vehicles and then use them to play games controlling the virtual modes of transportation. We've gotten a ton of mileage out of this kit and it's super rewarding to see him follow the instructions for building the cardboard pieces and then seeing the pay off in getting to play the games on the Switch. Well done, Nintendo!

This is alot of fun and my sons love it. The only problem is.... I always end up having to put it together lol.... and then it leaves behind a huge mess of little cardboard pieces. But besides that, it's cool to watch them follow the directions and put the pieces together. Keeps them busy in-between feedings lol...

When I first saw the Labo kits advertised I was intrigued but skeptical: definitely a creative use of the capabilities of the Nintendo Switch but was the price justified? The vehicle kit is an outstanding bargain when you can find it at a discount: no question. Yet after building kit with my son, I believe the MSRP is justified. Undoubtedly there was a significant amount of time invested in developing and engineering this kit. It is incredible how well each cardboard piece fits with the others to form each component of the kit. My son was engrossed with the kit assembly for about 3 days. It is essentially a model kit that does not require glue or paint. The components interact with the game software to bring the kit to life. The Labo Toy-Con: Vehicle Kit was a perfect buy for the summer lockdown.

The main appeal of the Labo series, to me, is the building. With the simple, witty instructions within the software, it is very fun and easy to pass the 90+ minutes to build each project, but the mini-games within the software are a bit lack-luster. Each vehicle can be a bit awkward to control, especially the steering wheel when used in Mariokart.

On sale it is a must buy, but even at $70, the value is much more than you would think. It can be hard to look passed the notion that its just expensive cardboard, but once you make everything and see what this kit has to offer, your feeling of value increases substantially. Included is a game cartridge that has tons of extra features and mini games to utilize your cardboard creations. There is an open world to fly your plane, drive your car, and submerge your submarine. The builds can take a couple hours per peripheral, so it is a substantial time commitment, but you get a step by step virtual mirror of everything you need to make, that is easy to understand, in the game cartridge. You need a regular Nintendo Switch for all LABO products.
