    I carry everything on an external HD and I travel constantly. This is a must have for me to be operational. Hoping this last longer than my previous WD that started to make funny noises and sounded like an antique computer hardrive searching for files like a librarian going through a card catalog haha.

    This is the third LeCie that I have purchased and I have been satisfied with all of them. None of my previous LeCie units have malfunctioned. I need multiple external drives and these do the job.

    Capacity was as advertised. Setup easy. My only complaint, and it has nothing directly to do with the hard drive, was that the Best Buy sales person told me that this unit had a Thunderbolt cable for my iMac Thunderbolt port. It did not, it had a USB 2.0 plug. This is not the manufacturers fault, but the salespersons fault.

    Best you can buy, especially if using Mac. We use it for back up of our entire system and video content library. Too bad you can't find it at stores anymore.

    It's supposed to be "rugged," but this hard drive started beeping (meaning serious failure, I later discovered) this week. It had been sitting on my table. I've reached out to their customer service for data recovery options, and will update this review if they provide meaningful suggestions for me to try.
