Left 4 Dead has been out for quite some time. Games have come after it that took the zombie genre to new gameplay and immersion,with games as recent as Dying Light and ZombiU doing great and unique things to keep this idea fresh. But playing Left 4 Dead now, I can say this: nothing has come close to this kind of experience before or yet. So Left 4 Dead is as simple in concept as it can be. You along with three other survivors(be it A.I or your friends) must get from point A to Point B. Offering 4 Campains which are short and mostly the same, you would think this game can get repetitive. And you'd be right. Hell the variety of weapons you can use are very limited,only having 7 different guns and 3 different explosives. BUT,like Destiny,the core gameplay here is fun as hell, so after long hours it might get stale, but in short bursts this is a simple drop in and play,no need for remembering details like "where you left off in the story" or "remembering what you have to do". Graphics are nothing amazing in this day and age right now,but they aren't ugly either. They are the definition of average, making things serviceable at best,and bland at worst. Sound is done really well,with the voice overs for each playable character and their contextual interactions feelin genuine when say someone in the team finds medicine or health packs,they will in game yell out what they found for the rest to use. Guns sound average,music is not a big highlight here,but the best sound comes from ambient noises and the variety of zombies and the infamous Witch you may come across at certain levels. What keeps this game from being REALLY repetitive early on is a mechanic they built into the levels called A.I Director,which randomized where and what enemies are in the levels everytime you load it up,so in one level there might be a good amount of really difficult big mini bosses,while playing that level over again might just have higher numbers of regular zombies in different locations with a witch instead. I will say the limited selection of weapons is dissapointingly,but really they all work different enough that it's not a game breaker. You got your typical assault rifle,sniper rifle,shotgun,in pump action and auto,SMG,and pistols,which have unlimited ammo but a long reload time and short bullet count for each clip. The Campains have a movie-like appeal to them,with credits at the end of each campaign emulating a movie style,to the movie poster showcasing each character with either the Gamertag playing as that character or just their character names with "as himself" added to it. It keeps track of a huge amount of interesting stats that are presented after every level in all 4 Campains,showcasing feats such as Most Enemies killed to Least Damage Taken. Co-op is strong here in terms of completing levels. Almost every enemy requires great teamwork to either survive of kill. The emphasis here is quite big,making this game impossible to go at it alone. Luckily the friendly A.I is rather quite impressive. Almost better than human players,as they are more centralized around you and helping you instead of having a every-man-for-himself attitude. If you were to pick up this game,just know these things going in. This game is filled with a lot of run and gun action,team work,and becomes repetitive after long hours of playtime with it,even with the random enemies in each play through. The controls are not typical FPS controls,as there are no iron sights to speak of. You would be best playing this in short bursts, but there is no other game that can match the fun of mowing down hundreds of zombies with little to no break I'm the action. So mindless shooting, constant gunfire, working as a group, and nothing more. That's what this game is about,and in short bursts, that's all right with me.

My son loves this game and can't stop playing it he can't put it down. The great part is that he can also play with his brother and also play online with his friend there also. It's no too gory but just enough. My son has even gotten me to play and I think the controllers are easy to use. Great price for the game he was able to save his allowance in order to buy it the day we where just checking on some stuff. If you want a great zombie game this is it. The reason hey son wanted this game is because he already had the second game and wanted to lay the first game. Would really recommend a third game because the other two where such a great hit with my kids.

this game has countless hours of fun, survival mode is a blast. you go against waves of zompbies. it can get your heart pumping. its an adrenaline rush. this game is a classic. so worth the 20 bucks. go get this game.

I enjoy playing this game with my wife and brother-in-law over the internet. The graphics and gameplay are both realistic and very challenging. The AI is very adaptive and responsive to your movement and interaction with objects in your environment. I simply wish the stages were a bit longer and there were more types of guns. However, changing the difficulty results in a new level of surprise. The special infected also offer a great challenge. Overall I enjoy playing the game and would recommend it to any adult, especially fans of the Walking Dead series. Just be careful of the horde.

I use to own this game then I sold my Xbox awhile back and I bought it again just because I loved the gane so much

Defiantly worth the rating of game of the year. The action is very good and it is easy to get drawn into the excitement of playing.

Brought this game for my nephew and he enjoys playing it and he said it's the best left for dead game.

By far one of my favorite games. It's fun playing alone but even better with friends!

Really easy game to pass need more to it passed it in less than a hour

I played left 4 dead on the day it released and found it to be a really exciting game. Left 4 dead holds a strong value to me because it focuses on the apocalypse. To me, the idea of slaying zombies who are literally running after you, sounds amazing! the game offer's chilling moments, and definitely keeps your adrenaline going and always gives you the feeling that you are not alone. The chapters are very detailed, you have access to a variety of weapons offered in the game that give you the motivation to just sit there and really put time into it. Overall, if you are searching for a game that allows you to take matters into your own hands, this is the game for you! if running around with a group of people and dominating the apocalypse, sounds fun and exciting, just pick up a copy of left 4 dead and start your journey.

My kids enjoy this game. It was great for the price and keeps entertained for hours.
