Great Gaming Laptop!

Amazing laptop. It runs all tasks well. Especially day to day tasks. It is very well built. Sturdy and not flimsy like a lot of laptops. I mainly use it for gaming. It will run pretty much all current games on max settings. I am currently running TESO all out and it performs beautifully at 50-80 fps. It runs WoW even better. I really enjoy this laptop. I suggest buying a cooling mat as it can get a little hot. With the mat it is perfectly cool running games. Many users complain about the screen being washed out a little but a simple fix with the nvidia contrast settings makes it beautiful. No need to spend another 100 bucks on and new screen. Overall I would rate this 10/10. There is really nothing that I do not like about this laptop as a gamer.

Great For What I Wanted

I wanted something that is slightly more gaming laptop than light weight or tablet, but I didn't want to sacrifice power. This computer seemed to be the best balance of lightness, portability, and power. In 2015, they started using the i7 4720HQ, instead of the previous year 4710HQ, which is (0.1) Ghz higher clock. I wanted a little more graphics power and expandability, but I sacrificed it for lightness and the touchscreen. By limitations, I am primarily referring to only one hard drive bay and a max of 16GB RAM (2 slots). I was worried a 5400 RPM hybrid drive would suffer, but it's not much of an issue. I am actually pleased as far as my needs go. If the above limitations are not an issue, then I would recommend it. I use it for Internet, Photoshop, Web Dev, gaming.

High end gaming laptops run around 2,500 and up. The cost of the Lenovo is quite good with the secondary Nvidia 860 capability.
Games i'm playing: Minecraft, World of Warcraft.
Minecraft plays outstandingly well with the 128b texture packs installed, no stuttering or lag issues. No video rendering issues.
World of Warcraft plays outstandingly well also with video settings set to ultra for questing and high for raiding LFR and heroic modes. Some settings will be lower because it just improves framerates in raids. I typically receive 50 to 60 fps average doing LFR or heroic mode raiding with settings some settings on high, some medium and some low. I was pleasantly surprised to find that with the vibrance of the screen and the Nvidia 860M running, the graphics were very crisp and found that there was not much difference between Ultra and Medium graphic settings in WoW.
A few things to understand about this laptop before you buy. Backlit keyboard is wonderful, very nice in dark lit environments. Touchpad is very responsive, but make sure to press (Fn-F6) before you start gaming because you are going to constantly be misaligning your cursor onscreen with your left thumb if you don't. (Fn-F6) disables the touchpad.
The NVidia 860M video card is suppose to activate when graphics intensive programs are running, however I found that it needed a kick in the rear sometimes to do so. When you install the newest Nvidia drivers, you will also be installing, "Nvidia GeForce Experience". Once you get everything installed, log into your game and don't bother withg raphics settings. Exit your game and then run the Nvidia GeForce Experience. Within the NVidia settings you will see a tab to check for supported games. The software should find the game folder where your game is being stored and it should show an option to optimize the game for you. This setting will allow you to decide whether you wish for better performance or better image quality. I selected just a tad into performance over quality. Then click on Optimize! DONE! There is an option to set the graphics processor you wish to use with which program. Set your program to run with Nvidia high performance and click, "save" . I mention these steps because im sure most average users will not understand that there is an option specify and customize your graphics preferences in this way.
My only complaints: Hybrid drive or a 5400rpm harddrive with a small solid state drive running in tow. Startup times are insanely fast. Literally 5 to 10 seconds from full power off to login screen. But it's still a 5400 rpm drive. You can clearly see and feel the drive inadequacy when loading a game. Once your game is loaded it runs quite well though. Second is the bloatware, Bloatware is the software that companies include that usually takes up hard drive space and slows a computer down to a crawl because all these programs start with he computer and just run constantly while doing nothing that the Windows operating system itself doesn't already do in many cases. Lenovo has quite a few programs installed on this laptop that are just not needed. A google search will tell you what you can or cannot uninstall safely. I will say though that once I uninstalled the bloatware, this laptop became outstanding.
Pro's-Vibrant screen with outstanding colors, Audio is robust for a thin laptop, rubberized feel of the palmrests, ease of access to memory, harddrive and other hardware (entire back comes off in one piece) Fine screen inlay that catches dust etc on the air inlets makes for easy cleaning. One key system recovery with stamped bios makes for fast OS recovery.
Con's-5400rpm hybrid drive. bloatware, lid hinges. (The biggest complaint I have found on this laptop is the hinges, allegedly they are plastic and can break In some cases. I have had no issue with the lid hinges as of yet but read many, many complaints about the issue so thought I would at least inform future consumers.
In summary I am using this budget minded gaming laptop for minecraft and World of Warcraft with zero issues and it plays quite well. The memory can be upgraded to 16Gb Low voltage ddr3 ram. The harddrive can be upgraded easily to a good solid state drive. Keep in mind though that if you upgrade the harddrive you must download windows 8.1 from Microsoft to reinstall the OS.

Just picked up this laptop last week. It has been great. The first thing you have to do is update the antivirus software and let it delete the SUPERFISH malware off the computer. Don't let that scare you it will do it and you are done.
I picked this up to game when I am away and it is perfect. I play Battlefield 4 on ultra with no problems. Elite Dangerous, and Eve all run perfect.
This is the perfect gaming laptop at a great price.

I upgraded with 16GB of RAM and added and external 1TB drive and 23" Toshiba monitor so I can work on the laptop screen while viewing creative product on the added monitor. I can't begin to list all the ways this machine met or exceeded my expectations, but a few include: the hybrid drive works as an instant-access scratch pad for Creative Cloud apps and--combined with the processing power in this machine--actually (first time ever for me) keeps up with me. It's the speed and capacity needed for massive complex files and fast work, something I didn't think a laptop could do. This machine marks my first foray into tracking pad instead of mouse, and added touch-screen to enhance the keyboard and cursor rather than replace them. Again, the speed and choices for how I work are what this machine offers. The backlit keyboard and it's fast soft feel were unexpected bonuses. I intended to buy another brand, thinking Lenovo was out of my reach, but the package I put together at Best Buy fit my budget but offered a lot more. Two people I distance-work with have just upgraded to the same Lenovo model with expanded RAM.

Great laptop. Enjoying it lots. Battery doesn't last as long as I'd like, and I'm not a fan of Windows 8, but those are my only complaints. Quick start up, solid video for downloads and graphics for game. I like the speakers too!

I really don't understand people with these pros and cons. I completed my BS in computer science. I know about computers. Trust me. This is a great laptop.
Some people have the tendency to break down a product, for which I really don't understand. Hey man, all products comes with the good & bad, but in my opinion, this is a great laptop. It has awesome specs, a beautiful screen, has a touch screen, and a portable cd rom. How cool is that?
It is easy to use.
I just have issue with Windows 8.1 I can't stand the preinstalled apps. They're all trial versions. Uninstall them and you're set. O yea, the keyboard lights up red and the laptop is super thin, weights nothing practically.

I have been needing a laptop for a while now but couldn't find one that was affordable but still beefy enough to handle everything I need it to. Want it to be able to record and edit music, do some 3d rendering, graphic design, and of course play some games. This thing does it all and so easy to use. I'm still takes in the past with old versions of Windows, but the newer Windows 8 is not too bad. I learn new short cuts ask the time. Lenovo is one of my favorite companies for a reason. Light weight computer but intense processing and power. Amazing laptop.

The laptop is great in a sense that it runs almost all games I throw at it. The only problem I see like most people has mentioned is the screen. Its horrid. If I didn't put up with it for the two weeks I could have return it? I would. But the speed and snappyness were amazing. Guess it impress me more since I am upgrading from a five year old laptop that is still some how working after the keyboard died on me and the battery is pretty much destroyed. Anyways this was my first Lenovo laptop and I am loving it, but I do wish the screen was better.
Now for those who is looking for a gaming laptop for a decent price? Then this is it. Yet if you are willing to wait and save to get a better one? Then yes I would say so because the screen on this is bad! But if you willing to put up with it then go for it. It's a very good gaming laptop!

I bought this laptop off the shelf when my direct custom order from Toshiba failed to meet expectations.
In general this is a powerful laptop, and it serves as my primary machine. I am not crazy about the keyboard, and the over sized touchpad gets "touched" while typing too often, leading to some frustrating interruptions as the cursor jumps or the Windows dashboard opens up. I may be able to locate some settings to correct this, but haven't explored those options. For extensive typing I purchased a separate full sized keyboard and a larger screen which is set up to extend the workspace.
I don't use the touch screen much, but it is fairly responsive. Runs quiet, Battery performs fairly close to as advertised, but it has a shorter than average lifetime. Whoever thought the tiles interface from 8.1 would be a good idea on a computer should have been fired.
Overall I am satisfied, and it seems as if the machine will serve for a few years, barring any hardware failure.

This laptop was a smart purchase. Even included a separate CD drive.
Startup is pretty fast thanks to the hybrid drive. Great for gaming too as far as speed, however the battery life seems to drop by at least 60% [gaming can be pretty demanding on the system.]
In a nutshell, this was a good purchase.

This laptop does everything I need and more. I can easily surf the web, listen to music, and play a high graphics game at the same time with no issues. I play World of Warcraft on a regular basis, and it plays it at 98 fps! That is insane for a basic laptop. All of my games on Steam are smooth and perfect, no issues streaming anything. Highly recommend to anyone needing a decent laptop without breaking the entire bank!

I have really liked the laptop. I know people complain about the picture, but just needs a little calibration and looks fine. It's definitely fast and can handle graphics well. I just didn't like the fact that when I was browsing a site, I got an error and it was from superfish. Pretty lame that it was installed by Lenovo at factory.

I have had this laptop for about a month and it has thus far proven to meet all my gaming needs. It will run multiple games simultaneously. The only downside I have found is that gaming applications will eat the battery up pretty quickly, so stay near an outlet if you are going to do any gaming.

I'm on the fence on this product. I had to return it for a replacement within 30 days because of hard drive problems. The replaced product works well. If I didn't have the problem with the original laptop I would rate this as an excellent product with a great price point for the features. As with all electronic products, please beware. You may want to wait for the next version of this product after all of the 'kinks' are worked out.

Overall it's a great, simple enough, nice looking machine. It's been able to handle pretty much anything I throw at it reasonably. The speakers are definitely loud and proud, and a decent quality. I'd have to say my only gripe is the trackpad not having any definitive buttons. It's very easy to slip up and right-click by accident. But hey, I'm supposed to be using a mouse for a GAMING laptop anyway, right? 8/10

I didn't buy this for gaming, I have a PS4 for that. I bought it because other laptops I bought had issues connecting with my Motorola router. This works great. I have some issues now and then of the screen flashing. Apparently this is a known issue with these touch screens. For a gaming laptop you'd figure it would come with more then 8mb of ram. I may add the 16 to make it faster, not sure it would make a difference for the almost $200 it costs.
